Chapter 12 - Arriving in Heaven...

Oliver woke up in a very well lit place. Did he arrive to Heaven? Well... He sure didn't expect to get here so soon. He imagined that he would be on the other side for a while longer. Well, now! There was no reason to be sad or mad about it. The past is in the past and he just had to live his new life the best way possible. However, he sure didn't expect that of William's father. He wandered how William coped with it or if something had happened to him for his father to act that way. From Heaven one should be able to look down on earth, right? Now he just had to figure out how to do that. He got up and realised that he hadn't been floating, but laying on the softest bed possible. That was nice! He could never afford such luxury in his past life. In front of the bed he saw a door and walked towards it. The moment he opened the door he saw a butler waiting for him.

"Good morning, sir! How can I help you?" asked the butler politely.

Oliver sure didn't expect this. Weren't angels supposed to be the creatures serving in Heaven? Or could it be that this is how angels actually look? Anyway, he proceeded and asked:

"Could you tell me how I can see William, please?"

"Of course! If you want to meet Master William, I can take you to the dining hall. He should be there having breakfast around this time." answered the butler.

"Oh, no... so that's why his father was like that..." murmured Oliver to himself. "Please take me to him!"

The butler took Oliver to the dining hall and there he saw William having breakfast being pretty depressed. Could he be affected about the fact that he died? Could it be that he watched his father go on a rampage after he died? Poor William! Oliver was set on making him feel better! He didn't feel any pain anyway when he died. He couldn't remember how he was tortured. He must have fainted before it all unfolded.

"Hey, William! Did that breakfast do you any wrong? You're looking at it as if you have a personal problem with it." said Oliver trying to liven up the atmosphere.

"Oliver! Are you ok? Are you mad? I am so sorry! My dad went overboard! I am so, so sorry!" said William apologetically.

"It's ok, William. I'm fine! It wasn't that bad. I can't even remember what happened. You don't have to worry!" responded Oliver as if nothing grave had happened.

"Do you hate me?" asked William dreary.

"What are you talking about? I have no reason to do that!" responded Oliver trying to make William understand that it wasn't his fault.

"When I saw you being brought in unconscious, I was so scared. I was sure you would hate me and never want to have anything to do with me or my family. However, don't think I didn't have a long discussion with my father when he brought you to our palace. That's why he isn't here for breakfast. I told him that after everything he did, he had no right to see you today, so to avoid accidentally bumping into you he decided to spend the day in his parlor, because I'm sure he traumatized you." said William in one breath.

His words came out faster then Oliver was able to actually process what he heard. After a few seconds he realized: he hadn't been killed. On one hand, he was happy. He didn't know how he survived and how come the Duke didn't kill him, but he was happy. On the other hand, he was embarrassed that until a few seconds ago he thought that both William and him were dead. If William hadn't felt the need to somehow try and relax him, Oliver could have made a big fool out of himself. However, he wasn't the type that would die of shame because of his errors, so he was just going to laugh about it.

"William, thank goodness!" said Oliver.

"I knew you would feel better if he wasn't around! Are you still scared?" asked William worriedly.

"Calm down. I thought that both of us were dead and met in Heaven!" said Oliver as he burst into laughter.

"..." William freezed. His first thought was that Oliver had been so scared and traumatized that he thought he died. Actually... that's probably what happened... However, just after seeing him laugh for a few seconds William realized how funny the situation was. Oliver woke up in an unknown place that looked very nice, so he thought that he died and went to Heaven. Then he probably wanted to see if William was the cause for his father's rampage and asked the butler to help him find William. The butler probably told him that he was having breakfast and Oliver supposed that William died as well and that was the reason that his father went on a rampage. Then, when they met, Oliver tried to comfort him about his own death and about the deeds of his father that came in the aftermath at the same time as he was trying to calm Oliver after what his father might have done to scare him last night. This was so tangled and, because of that, so funny. He also started laughing and for a few minutes they both just laughed. Both of them had been building up a lot of stress and tension for the past few hours, so when they were finally able to relax, all the emotions they weren't able to express until then just came out through laughter.

Finally, after a good laugh, William said: "Still friends?"

"What are you talking about? Of course!" said Oliver and went in for a hug. He had never thought that meeting an important person would bring such dramatic consequences, but now that he looked back, it sure was palpitating. True, if his life continued to be like this every moment, he might die of weak heart before the time is right, but some novel experiences from time to time could be intriguing.
