The leader checked the garbage container's perimeters to see if there any trapdoors, but there was none. He looked alarmed and signaled his men to keep a tight watch on the surrounding area. The leader's phone suddenly beeped, and he cursed loudly.
"Are there any sewer maintenance holes around here?"
"There is one about 200 meters away from here--it's sealed so there's no way he could've escaped through there," one of the men spoke up.
The leader clenched his teeth in frustration, "Keep searching." The mission they got this time around was no doubt S-class, even with all the preparations made beforehand. The slimy bastard was still here, he was shot in the leg. A good thing for them since he won't get very far. If they failed this mission…the leader did not want to think of the consequences. Those old men were very specific this time. They wanted that man dead and hiring men from their organization was proof of it.
He once again made sure that the red dot was no longer on the tracking device. Sure enough, he had disappeared. As expected of that man. Even an elite squad was not able to take him down, unaware. Yuan Xing was busy contemplating where the man could have gone when she saw a concealed outline of a shadow under the same garbage container. She furrowed her eyebrows, not sure of what she saw. The very same man from before was there! Her brain was befuddled with questions. 'How...?' She examined the area again. There wasn't anywhere he could escape from without being visible. The men were placed in particular positions that wouldn't allow him to move recklessly. If it was Yuan Xing, she would scale the wall to getaway.
It would work because of her much smaller figure but men with larger frames were more noticeable in such situations. Unless...he never moved to begin with? Which only meant that there was a removable panel in the base of the container that he could enter. If this scheme was premeditated, then the man went along with it with his own plans in mind. Suddenly, a number of shots were fired further down north, and the shouting resumed.
"He's here! Surround him with Formation X," a faraway voice cried. The leader took one last puzzled look at the garbage container and ran to the location. Yuan Xing had an urge to laugh. Who the heck was this guy? He completely played them. Yuan Xing sat still her in her position and waited for the moment he came out. Unknowingly, the man interested her. She stayed back purely out of necessity, but now it had shifted to curiosity.
She continued to observe until the voices of the team were completely gone. After seconds, the man crawled out from beneath the garbage container and leaned his body against it. It was too dark to see his face. If the team was from that organization then this man was dangerous. Very dangerous. This did not stop Yuan Xing from silently slinking closer to him. When she was 5 feet away from him, his aggressive voice reached her, "What do you want?"
Yuan Xing lowered herself to his eye level and could glimpse at the vague panels of his face. His hair was a startling blue with black highlights. From what she could see, he was handsome, nothing more. She huffed. "Calm your horses. If I wanted to hurt you, I could have already."
He leaned his head back and tried to squint at me. The effects of the shot must be setting in by now. "A woman? Whatever. If you help me, I'll owe you one favor. How's that?" His voice was smooth and confident like everything was meant to turn out this way. He's either stupid or brave, either way, this works out perfectly for Yuan Xing's plan.
Without wasting any more time, Yuan Xing abruptly took his free arm and slung over her shoulder. He yelped in surprise and she rolled her eyes. She carried him to her car and made sure his leg was properly bandaged with a spare shirt. The car took off, the silence in the car deafening. She turned to look at him in better lighting and was stunned at his Adonis face but shook her head. His chocolate brown eyes were cold and wary as they looked her over in interest.
"You don't need my name?" he curiously tilted his head.
Yuan Xing ignored his question, "I'm taking you to a local clinic. You should be fine resting there. "
The man looked at her strangely. He then flirtatiously grinned at her. "I would gladly repay you, sweetheart." Her lips twitched. 'Cheeky bastard.'
She stopped the car in a dark street. A fairly small building was still lit up. It had no signs outside and looked like an ordinary shabby home. Yuan Xing looked at the stranger beside her, who had not stopped observing since the beginning of the ride. If Yuan Xing could replace his face with an emoji, it'd be a devil. She had to praise him though. He looked quite harmless, and no one would suspect him of being dangerous. The suppressed power emitting from him was the real deal. He was most definitely the final boss.
