Quint and the Gate Guardian stood toe to toe, facing each other. The Gate Guardian then attempted to swiftly kick Quint, but his kick was blocked. Quint, almost instantly, grabbed the leg, after he blocked it, and tossed the Gate Guardian into the air. Flames ignited under Quint's shoes and launched him into the air after the Gate Guardian. As Quint closed in on the Gate Guardian, the Gate Guardian smiled and flexed his fingers, pointing them all downward towards Quint. The nails of the Gate Guardian extended towards Quint at a great speed, forcing Quint to defend himself by crossing his arms in front of himself. The nails went right through Quint's arms and body, causing him to crash into the ground. The Gate Guardian recomposed himself and landed on his feet. Quint started frantically checking his body for wounds, but found nothing and felt no pain other than the pain from hitting the cold ground.
"That was an illusion!" yelled Quint, "You're going to pay for that!"
The Gate Guardian raised his arm and motioned Quint to come at him. Quint then angrily charged at the Gate Guardian and punched him in the face, but his fist went through him. It was another illusion. As Quint realized that he hit an illusion, two Gate Guardians appeared behind him, flanking him.
Quint smiled and said, "I can get rid of your illusions with ease!"
Quint then powered up and a ring of fire appeared around his waist. He moved his arms outwards and the ring of fire expanded and went through the Gate Guardians, but the illusions remained.
"Why didn't that work?!" yelled Quint with frustration.
All three of the Gate Guardians simultaneously said, "Because, my illusions are more concentrated. You destroyed my maze because it was so big and widespread, it's harder to maintain than what you see before you."
"Quint! Try to sense his presence! You can find him that way!" shouted Ariel, while also trying to sense the Gate Guardian.
"Don't you think I tried that, but all I can sense are these three copies!" responded Quint.
"You won't find me," said the three copies as they all converged onto Quint.
"Your illusions can't hurt me," said Quint confidently as he just stood there waiting on the illusions.
The illusions all used their long claws in an attempted to puncture Quint. The first one appeared in front of him, and the claws went, right through him, but he felt no pain. The second one showed up on his right side and tried to pierce his arm, but it went right through him. The third one, appeared behind him and put his claws into Quint's left shoulder! Quint yelled in pain as the claws was forced through his shoulder. Blood started pouring from his wound as the Gate Guardian pulled his claws out and rejoined the other two illusions.
"You have excellent instincts. I went for your head, but you sensed me coming and moved at the last moment, so that I wouldn't kill you. I don't know how you sensed me, but it won't happen again!" said the Gate Guardians.
"You've lost this battle. I can pinpoint you right now!" said Quint, as he ran right past the three illusions, ignited his fists, and punched what seemed to be nothing.
The illusion the Gate Guardian was hiding behind fell and revealed him as he hit the ground from the punch. The other three Gate Guardian illusions dropped and disappeared.
"How did you find me?!" asked the Gate Guardian as he stood back up and disappeared again.
After a moment, four Gate Guardians appeared, surrounding Quint. Quint looked at them all, but then began firing small, fiery energy blasts at seemingly random locations.
The four Gate Guardians smiled and said, "Maybe it was luck that you dodged me earlier because now you're just firing wildly. I'll give you a hint, I'm among the illusions!"
The four Gate Guardians charged at Quint again swiping at him, but Quint paid them no mind and kept firing wildly until his attacks landed on the real Gate Guardian. The illusions disappear as the real Gate Guardian hit the ground.
"Gotcha!" said Quint as he saw the Gate Guardian fall to the ground.
The Gate Guardian stood up and walked towards Quint. Won't watched him slowly approached him.
The Gate Guardian got face to face with Quint and said, "I give up."
Quint was dumbfounded about what just happened! "You're just giving up?!" shouted Quint in shock.
"Yes, I have no desire to fight you anymore," said the Gate Guardian as he sat down and crossed his legs, "I can't keep up this charade anymore. I don't even want to harm humans anymore. And you remind me of someone I cared deeply about."
Quint still looked confused by what was happening.
"You're serious, aren't you?" asked Quint.
"Yes! I'm done, just kill me and get this over with," answered the Gate Guardian while looking off into the sky.
"I don't think I can do that anymore." responded Quint.
Ariel ran over to assess the situation and see what's exactly is going on. "Quint! Why did you stop fighting?!" inquired Ariel as she rushed over.
"He's done fighting so I'm done fighting," said Quint.
Ariel became visibly upset and yelled "What?! He's the the enemy!"
"He's no longer my enemy," responded Quint and then he turned to the Gate Guardian and said, "I'm not going to kill you. Just don't interfere with us killing your bosses."
"Please kill me! I want to be with the one I love. Hopefully in death, we can be together," said the Gate Guardian.
"The one you love? Is that why you don't want to fight anymore?" asked Quint.
"Yes, the man I loved showed me a different side to humans. I always viewed them as an abomination, until I met him," answered the Gate Guardian.
"I'm Quint. What's your name?" said Quint as he introduced himself.
"Alvar," said Alvar, "Let me tell you my story."
