She slowly approached and almost started cursing, as she realized she can't start speaking right away. She would scare them and they might kill her right away.
''Miu!!!'' She yelled as loud as she could and the two young children saw a small kitten standing there and watching at them with her blue eyes. ''Miu, miu!''
''Sister... why do I have feeling the kitty wants to tell us something?'' The boy saw the small cat looking at them and then moving towards the fireplace. Then she stopped and called them again with a long. ''Miuuuuuuu!''
The girl was astonished as well. The unusual motion of the cat made her curious. She went to the cold fireplace and then watched the kitty staring at a certain direction and making sounds. ''Miu , miu , miu!!!''
She looked up and then at the kitty. ''Impossible. How...?'' But stopped as the kitty softly patted her leg.
With her soft paw, she pointed at the box and made it again. ''Miu.''
The girl realized it was high so she started climbing up. Lilly stepped back as whole black dust and ashes started falling down and she really had no wish to get a bath. Not with this fur.
She stepped back and saw the young boy coming near. To stop him getting dirty as well she bt into his trouser and tried to pull him back.
''You are some weird kitten. Why are you biting my trousers?'' He was curious but soon saw his sister climbing down and looking dirty from top to bottom. ''Wow, sis...''
She chuckled and showed a big dirty box in her hands, but when he wanted to get close she stopped him. ''I think kitty tried to Stop you get near the fireplace, as the ashes would have dirtied you as well. I am going to wash a bit. Stay here. I will be right back. I need to wash the box as well.''
Jacob saw her leaving and turned his head towards the small silver cat. ''Who are you?''
The small kitten jumped to the nearest chair and then started cleaning herself up. She didn't make sounds as she had an idea. That could make them believe. Right?
Not long after the girl came back and put the slightly moist box on the table. ''Should we open it?'' She looked at her little brother and was about to reach after the box when a small kitten jumped on the table.
''Miu, miu, miu...'' The kitten tried to explain, but then rolled her big blue eyes and used her head to push the box towards the girl. ''Miu, miu.''
''Sister, I never saw such a strange cat.'' he boy was actually delighted and happy. Such a smart cat in their house. At least he won't be alone again.
The girl calmly looked at the small kitten and then at the box. ''You want me to open it? Is there something for you?''
To her surprise, the kitty nodded. Did she understand her? But as they spoke about the inheritance the cat appeared and pointe dit out. Could it be that her parents send this creature to help the two of them? Mother always loved cats. Maybe...
