"Lin, can you hear me?" Ge Chen was worried that she might lose the ability to hear.
Xue Lin frowned. She said, "I cannot hear you. I cannot hear anything. There is a weird sound ringing inside my head."
Ge Chen was astonished. "Then how…"
She replied in a quivering voice, "I can read your lips." She was doing her best to control her emotions but her voice gave it away.
Ge Chen realized that she was scared but when he saw her trying to hide it, he didn't disclose it. He praised her warmly and tried to distract her saying, "That's great. Are you hurt anywhere?"
Xue Lin tried to figure out if she was in pain but she felt nothing. All her senses were dull. "I'm not sure. I'm not feeling anything."
