Chapter 5 - Recalibration & Conviction

We got back to our room safely which was a major relief as I had a very strong feeling that if something happened during that walk I would not have had any say in the matter. On to the nicer topics though, the equipment arrived expectedly in perfect condition.

I drooled over the Black Ops for a few minutes, especially as its wind & metal enchantments guaranteed a fast, silent, no reload or bullets needed, and self-repairing gun. The pistols were the same and semi-auto oh how I loved enchantments, if I have the time, I am definitely joining a hunter school to learn how to work with them. Both also had a sleek royal blue on black design which I really liked as it matched with my style really well. (What? I had to learn to dress myself and Silvie I can appreciate a good match in clothing or equipment.)

The daggers were also made using a beautiful magic soaked damascus bringing that nice pattern out and giving it a dark green color due to the use of wind and shadow mana. The effect was a pair of daggers which were each about a foot and a quarter long with a stealth enchantment carved into the metal and a cutting strength higher than a water laser.

(Imagine daggers with a lot of swirly designs, if you search up Damascus steel it will help, in the metal color it a dark grey and then put make the patterns dark fluorescent green.)

I felt giddy as I tested everything not at all feeling the sluggishness of my earlier practice session with magic. I felt Silvie's look of exasperation on my back as I did so but ignored it as this had happened before and she can't say anything when anytime I buy something cute or pretty she also looks like a happy puppy with toys.

First, I tried on the clothes not all that surprised when they all fit pretty well and even resized to look skin-tight and very snug on me. They all had dark enchantments for better stealth and protection runes that will deflect or soak up attacks up to rank 1 stage 6.

Other than the random boxers with a self-cleaning rune the rest of the stuff was very well worth the money. The material for the cloak felt like a highly expensive silk while the pants and shirt felt like linen but really soft. The cloak had a leather edge and the boots were fully leather with some fur on the inside.

I went to the bathroom, putting everything on piece by piece and felt satisfaction at the way I still looked dangerous even with my new additions in fact I would say I look more dangerous with the fangs, slitted eyes, claws, and scales. I smirked in the mirror and walked out to my audience who clapped at my polite bow.

(The black coat is highlighted with green lines and swirls. The belt and holders are black with blue highlights same with the gun strap.)

The cloak made me blend into the shadows which admittedly made me look slightly like a vampire, according to Silvie at least. Well vampire Fuyu strapped the Black Op quickly nicknamed Starbolt to his back, twirled the pistols now called Meja and Maina slotting them into their place, picking up the daggers and giving them a few practice swings before naming them Fukuro and Karasu and sliding them behind his back into their holders.

I saw a smile on Silvie's face instantly making me wary as that smile could only mean one thing.

"Brother, you look like a wannabe Alucard…" - Silvie a closeted otaku who dragged me into her hobby.

I narrowed my eyes as a tick appeared on my forehead and stalked to the brat who called herself my sister and really gave her something to think about while I look at the other equipment.

'Ha, laugh at me now you little imp.' - Fuyu in his head.

I got back to my inspection after giving my impish sis a noogie leaving a pouting 12 year old in my wake. Giving her a look I sent the cat thing she named Nekoma to comfort the imp. I saw the box holding two of the most expensive things I had to buy and reach into the pile pulling out a space ring and the Moonlit Owl cores.

I felt Quartz stir from his place on my shoulders to look up at the thing which was calling out to us both. I sent a flare of warning through the bond 'patience' I reminded. I bonded with the space ring using blood and a bit of qui, sending a flare of qui through the ring which showed me that it was indeed worth its price. It had the space of a small warehouse around half a football field (yes sports still exist in this era).

I slightly nodded my head satisfied with my purchase, with a thought I moved the stun gun, transportation cages, tent, and consumable items into the ring. Leaving only my weapons, clothes, and the cores where there originally was a pile of expensive items.

I called to Shio, the little leviathan, and had it wrap around my upper arm because it was causing the carpet where it was laying to freeze. I nodded to Silvie who was giggling while playing with Nekoma signalling that I was going to absorb the core and not to disturb me.

Going outside with Quartz, I gave him one core to eat while I swallowed the other. I instantly felt the power of moonlight spreading dangerously from the core as it traveled to my daintain. I didn't contain the power instead directing it throughout my body using the Mythic Winter Jade manual. As I cycled it I felt the moonlight affinity in my body, more specifically my flesh, grow in strength and the feeling of my shoulder blades pushing into my skin signalling the growth of what will eventually become my wings.

This took a few hours as my moonlight affinity paled in comparison to my ice and life affinity. While it took me a pretty long time Quartz finished in less than an hour looking like an extremely happy snake all the while. He even burped from the feeling of being full of moonlight qui.

I saw that it was already 2pm and stood waiting until my legs didn't feel like needles were stabbing into them before going inside to the sight of a Silvie curled up with Nekoma. I shook my head gathering anything we cared about into my space ring lifting her up in my arms in a princess carry as Nekoma walked by my side as my shoulders and arms were taken.

It was time to move on to the next step of our journey.
