Chapter 10 - Breakfast and tea (6)

Akiaya trailed behind him like a sheep following a shepherd. She wanted to look back, but before she could even think to do it his voice wafted to her ears. "Don't look back. She thrives on being a nuisance." Obediently, she tried her best to keep pace with him. They managed to get a far enough distance from the restaurant, when a loud rumble stopped them both. Victor turned to look at her and she looked at him in return. "What?! I'm hungry. Geez, I'm pretty sure you are as well." Just before he was going to protest another growl spurt forth in time to shut his mouth. "See!" Akiaya pulled her wrist from his hand and grabbed her phone, going into her messages, she started to send a message to Chef Xeno. "We still have time so what do you want from Chef Xeno? I would prefer being at the company, now that I've been subjected to that abhorrent woman, where her likes cant just walk in." [chef Xeno my lunch plans were ruined :( please can you make me a side salad with spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread. I was with Victor too so he didn't get to eat either.] She looked up at him. "Seriously what do you want to eat? I told him I wanted spaghetti and meatballs. You want the same?" Victor, who mouth was gaping open at the fact that his stomach growl, finally gave her a nod of his head. Akiaya decided to flick his forehead to gather his full attention. "Yes?! I'll have the same it doesn't matter." He was embarrassed. [Make it 2 Xeno. Victor shocked his stomach growled as if it's a foreign concept. Thanks xoxo.] She grabbed hold of him pulling him along. "Victor I used to think you were… amazing but you're a bit dense. Now that I know you aren't perfect and in a relationship with Chun-Hei, I have no problem telling you that I'm glad I got over my crush for you. It was just a waste of time."

Victor managed to snap to attention when he heard her dismal confession. The notion that she had once held a torch for him was laughable. He never did anything to give her that impression. His mouth opened then closed several times. Finally, he managed to say something. "Why?" His question was a bit broad. Not that he didn't understand why she didn't like him anymore. It was obvious that she didn't want to have feelings for her cousin's fiancée, but why did she have a crush in him. Why didn't she tell him when she felt that way. What did he ever do to cause her to think that he would want a woman like her. Granted, if she looked more appealing he would have given it a thought but, despite her distinctive features, she couldn't hold a candle to Chun-Hei. Which made him go back to what he originally wondered, what did Takeyasu see in her that he couldn't see.

Akiaya realized a little too late on what she had actually said to him. Hearing him ask her the simple why showed it was loaded with so many unasked questions. Her options were to either tell him the truth or ignore it all together. Maybe that brief time she spent with Takeyasu was indeed a great thing for her. She no longer felt butterflies when she was near Victor, nor did she even want to be in his presence. He didn't understand her the way Takeyasu did. Those key feelings were what caused her to be open and be honest with her feelings. "Ok, it seems you're both asking why I had a crush on you and when. The thing is it happened two years ago. It was when I first started the company and was a mail clerk. Do you remember that?

People didn't know I was the CEO's daughter, since my Mother's last name was once Jefferson, so they were cruel to me. It was a horrible time honestly. That first week was a nightmare. I didn't realize that the weight of my name carried so much until I used my mother's maiden name." Akiaya looked around until she spotted a bench, pulling Victor towards it she sat down on the opposite side turning her body towards him. "You know you were different. When I would deliver your mail, you would always smile at me and had a kind word for me. It got to the point where you were the highlight of my day. When I realized I wanted to be near you, I worked extremely hard just so I could be in the same room with you; maybe even work under you.

I mean if you thought I blackmailed or used my daddy to get where I am you're mistaken. This is all my hard work." She looked into his eyes smiling. It was a genuine smile her hands even touched against her chest. "So, that's when and why but now I don't feel that way anymore. I actually, well honestly I think I found someone that I want to get to know." She looked down at her lap clasping her hands together. "Thanks for being the reason I worked so hard and I really do want you to make my cousin happy. If you don't that promise I made to you will be kept." She met his eyes, hers shining with a ferocity that he never thought possible. Akiaya stood up and started to walk again on the sidewalk. "Since it seems you need time to think. I will let Chef know to keep your food warm. See you back at the office." She gave him a breezy wave before disappearing around the corner.

Victor couldn't believe his ears. She had feelings for him for a couple of years. Used his kindness as a motivation for her to be closer to him. Ironically, her words touched his heart. It made him feel good, knowing that she didn't use reproachful methods to get where she was. Then his face fell. He had wanted to do his best in helping her fall for Takeyasu he didn't realize that she was interested in someone. He took his phone out and quickly sent a message to Take. [So I talked Akiaya up to you. No dice dude. She said she was interested in someone else. I'm sorry.] The sunny skies started to darken just after the message was sent. Victor new that when Takeyasu set his mind on something, or someone, he would be determined to get it. Nodding his head, Victor decided that he would still try to set Akiaya up with Takeyasu. What harm could there be in her allowing another guy to pursue her. It isn't as if she is married or engaged to any prominent prospects. He finally got up and began to walk back to the building himself. A drizzle of rain plopped in his cheek. The clouds opened up further allowing the water to flow at a steady stream. He was practically soaked by the time he made it back to the office.
