Chapter 7 - Feels like Forever (3)

The cold breeze was evident as the branches swung wildly, and the lantern that was lit died out, making the place pitch black. Due to exhaustion, the villagers slept quietly as they were oblivious to the upcoming calamity.

The large courtyard beside the village hall, the place where the Chief was staying, and the guards who were guarding the village earlier were already seized by the enemy.

The 500 men who were currently surrounding the village were waiting for the signal, standing straight as their swords and spears were clenched tightly. A young man in his 20s was in the front, eyeing the village that was about to be exterminated, and grinned.

"Now that they are all asleep, exhausted, dreaming.. let us help them enjoy their sweet dreamland forever! " Tang Guo lifts up his sword, slowly pointing in the village's direction, his raspy voice with a hint of arrogance.

"Kill them all!" building up momentum, the soldiers approach the village at a fast rate!

A young boy easily woke up when he felt the ground shaking. The unusualness made the little boy call for his mother. "Mother, wake up. The ground is shaking!" Using his small hands, he patted his mother's face until he was looked at with his mother's confused face.

"It's nothing. It's just your imagination, go back to sleep, we have to be early tomorrow." The young boy didn't budge as he tried to convince her, " What I'm saying is true, Mo—" his words were then cut off as the ground shook up again, making the mother look at her son; her eyes widened as the ground sure did shake.

His mother took the lamp, heading quickly to the door. The lamp illuminated the area, and her eyes wrinkled as she gazed at the road that led to the gate. A few moments later, she saw a bulky figure wrapped in red armor. One after another, new figures appeared, running in their direction, their heavy footsteps making the ground tremble!

The woman stared blankly, as if her foot was glued from the surface, fear enveloped her whole body.. then a soft voice entered her ears, seemingly awakened; it was her son! She pushed herself as her wobbly legs tried to run, scooping her son in her arms. Then ran, screaming, informing everyone to wake up.

"E-everybody wake up! There's an attack!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. She couldn't help but gulp as her throat became drier and drier, her son hugging her tighter as he covered his face to her mother's neck, seeking comfort from her mother's warmth.

"Everyone please w-wake up!! E-everybody... Save yourselves!" feeling the ground tremble stronger.

The villagers heard a shrill voice, waking up from the disturbance. The villagers opened their doors to be greeted by a running woman holding a child with a terrified face; the woman shouted again, "E-everyone, wake up! We are being attacked! P-please everyone.."

With that, the people who were still sleepy immediately awakened with shock drawn on their faces; they swept their gaze to be greeted by a horde of armored men, they ran, but it was too late.

The armored men laugh maniacally as they slash through each person's flesh. The other villagers decided to lock their doors, making the armored men quickly force the door open.

*bang*bang*bang*

A man held the door to prevent the armored men from coming in. The terrified man gazed at his wife and his child, who was crying as they hugged each other. The man sighed, "Just a little longer, longer enough to protect my family; I beg you, don't give up yet," the man cried inwardly, feeling his strength slowly fading...

Suddenly, a sword was struck from behind, hitting his shoulder. He grimaced in pain. Then again, another sword was struck in his stomach, and two more from his leg and hands, making him spew blood.

Witnessing how her husband was struck with multiple swords made her grieve. She held her son tremblingly, realizing that there was no escape. "I-it's okay, you can let go now.." she cried as she gazed in despair at her bloody husband, who still held on. "Let us come with you. It doesn't matter anymore; we will end up dead anyway.." the man who was about to give up was struck again, but this time on his heart.

The man knelt, his white robe dyed in blood; he gazed up at his wife and son, then smiled as his body gave up.

"LAN'ER!! My husband...My pitiful husband," the wife was devastated, looking at her husband's body; she clenched her hand, making her robe crumple. Her son was shaking up, mindlessly staring at his father, who was staring at him, smiling.

Unbeknownst to him, his mother looked crazily at the armored men who finally opened the door; she grabbed a sharp knife, attacking the infiltrators, but failed as the armored grabbed the hair of his mother.

"B*tch! Trying to attack me huh?!" The armored man puts his sword at the woman's neck and ruthlessly slashes it, making the body headless.

The child who bore witness to all of that was left alone, staring at the man who was holding his mother's head; he felt like his entire being was torn apart. His rage built up inside him until he reached his limit, finally bursting out, "I will kill you, all of you.. I will kill you, all of you, I WILL KILL YOU ALL!! " the child repeats these words all over again, but the man only laugh in response, in the end, the little boy fainted from shock.

The armored man continued to laugh as he stared at the boy. "Poor thing," the armored man swung his sword and cut the little boy's arm, spilling blood from the floor, then left the boy bleeding to death on the floor.

As the armored men went out, one of his comrades asked him, "Did you kill all of them?"

The man nodded, "Of course, who would dare to be courageous enough to disobey the general's order?" his comrade left after hearing his response.
