"Did you find anything?" Dane asks Macky who is slacking on the couch while their King is still reading the journal.
Macky slowly shakes his head with a pout, "Nope! But we do need to assess the new vampires and beasts that just arrived in the city." He swayed his body forward and rests his chin on his hand while leaning on the armchair, "They are all making troubles."
Rein nodded and looks at Taylan, "My liege, it is our duty to protect the humans. We will be conducting investigations about this matter if you will permit us."
Everyone looked at Taylan, waiting for his reply. They know that finding the Queen is crucial, but if they let go of the trouble-makers, it won't be easy for them as well.
"Alright, but the top priority is looking for the Queen." Taylan didn't look at them and continued reading. How can he let his Queen's people be slaughtered? He promised her to keep them safe.
"We did not find any trace of the Queen, my King." Jade bowed along with everyone.
Macky sighed, among all the King's guards and servants, he's the closest to the Queen. She treats him as a little brother. She loves him so much. It also broke his heart when she died along with the younger sibling he was expecting to have. He stands up and bowed as well but a thought still keeps on bothering him.
"You are all dismissed. Do what you need to do. And make sure no one should know that we are searching for my Queen."
They all nodded with their King's orders. One by one, they vanished and Taylan's left alone with the journal that doesn't seem to be helping him. His grandmother died naturally for her lifespan as a human. Normally, she'll be reincarnated with her memories and powers manifested in her new body, but the Queen is different. She was murdered. Her soul must be wondering around or she might even lose all her memories and powers with her new body.
Taylan stands up and decided to go down to the library to find interesting things.
It was quiet. Only the flipping of pages and scribbling of pens can be heard. He went to the novel section and found weird written novels about vampires and beasts. He never thought that humans will someday forget about those who saved them.
A teenaged boy went to the same section and quietly pulled a book. His aura is obviously of the beast. While looking through the book, he whispered, "My lord, I am happy to see you."
Taylan nodded, "Pen, where are the others?"
"They are on their way. They needed to talk to the new beasts in town about the rules in our city."
"Have you find any trace of the Queen's existence?"
Pen went silent. Nobody is oblivious of what the King went through. It is better to stay silent about this matter when you know nothing.
"No need to see me, tell them to do what they have to do. I can't believe I woke up disappointed."
Taylan walked passed the boy and went upstairs. Pen then also left with a heavy heart.
The King Taylan and his Queen was the most successful one to make peace among the different species. The Queen showed them love and compassion that no man showed. She was truly their mother. No one dared to tell the King but everyone died along with her. It was not only him who lost such a precious gift.
He wiped the tears that are forming in his eyes. He has to do what he was ordered to. Not only because it is the King who told them to find the Queen, but also for them who are now starting to go back to their old ways of living.
"Eliora, be sure to lock the doors when you sleep, alright?" Aunt Susie bid her farewell to Eli as she closes the door.
The night has settled in. Fewer people are walking in the streets as terrible news has been circling their city for the past weeks. Murder, massacre and different kinds of brutal crimes have been happening.
Eli walks peacefully, not having a care about her well-being, she even enjoys the night's cold fresh breeze while passing by the park. She now can strip off her facade. She doesn't need to smile or look happy. She stretched her arms and groaned.
"Ah~ I'm so tired," she whispered, "I don't want to go home yet."
Since her Aunt was admitted to the hospital, she has to work double-time to pay for the expenses as well as her tuition and other financial needs. She's always the bright cheerful one in any group but somehow, she's getting tired of smiling and looking all happy. She wanted to be the daughter her parents knew, but she's starting to feel a mysterious sadness and heaviness in her heart. It just suddenly popped out of nowhere.
She went to sit on the bench beside a light post and took a novel out to read for a while.
The silence and the breeze, along with the temperature is perfect for the reading session. She opened the book and skipped to the part she left off earlier before Trace disturbed her.
As she began to indulge herself in the book, she heard a weird noise coming from the unlighted part of the park. It was like a low growl. She stared at it for a while before deciding to go home.
It's true that she's feeling depressed, but she wouldn't want to be brutally murdered with her organs out her body just like the other victims or look like she was sun-dried.
"Crap!" she whispered, "It's late!"
She took her things and ran away but she can hear heavy loud footsteps following her. She closed her eyes for a while, while running fast.
"Darn it, why now? Why me? I won't cry if they kill me! I don't have any money!" She yelled.
She opened her eyes and walk past by a lady wearing a long dress.
"What are you doing? Run!" she yelled but the lady didn't move. She can't see her face since the light posts in the area aren't on. She was about to leave her but her guilt can't let her go. If she saw this woman dead by tomorrow she will never get another sleep for a while. Eli went back and grabbed the lady's arm and ran.
"You're kidding me, right? You saw me running, you should also start running!" she exclaimed.
After running for a while, they stopped in front of her apartment building. Eli noticed the lady's blue western dress.
It's full of blood starting from her chest. Her long straight silver hair was dripping with blood as well. Her face is covered and her pale cold skin was shinning under the light.
"A-are you alright?" Eli stutters, she's ready to scream if ever this lady does something to her.
No response was received from the lady but she placed her hands on her stomach and Eli noticed the small bulge.
"Oh my! Do you need help? Is your baby fine?" She asks and was about to hold the lady but she hesitated.
Tears suddenly fall from the lady's face. She began crying loudly. Her sobs pierce Eli's heart. Her wild imagination then began roaming.
"Did your husband hurt you? Is this a prank? Did someone tried to kill you because you look beautiful?" Eli's concern made her move on her own, she brushed the lady's hair away from her face, only to find that they look quite a lot alike, except her pale skin and silver hair.
"Woah, I should take glutathione and dye my hair." She told to herself.
The lady held Eli's hand and placed it on her belly. With the lightest touch, Eli can feel the heartbeat of the child inside the lady. She can feel the familiar warmth. She suddenly began drifting off to an unfamiliar place with blurred faces around her.
"Eliora, have you seen the King?" a familiar voice asks.
She shakes her head, for some reasons, she already know what to do, as if she's been in the situation already.
"He's sneaking around to gather sunflowers again for Eli again, I bet!" A kid happily commented before running to her and gave her the tightest hug.
"Are you ready for your wedding?" Another voice asks.
She nodded, she can feel her heart beating loudly as if it's jumping up and down due to excitement.
'Wedding?' She thought. 'Whose wedding?'
She was about to speak in her dream when suddenly, she opened her eyes. She's laying on her bed, still wearing her clothes and the door slightly opened. She immediately stands up to remember what happened but all she can recall was running away from something she can't remember.
