Chereads / LIGHTS OUT / Chapter 26 - Amanda 8.1

Chapter 26 - Amanda 8.1

May 2nd, Sunday.

Because the breakfast starts at 8 o'clock, I set the alarm clock at 7 o'clock.

As I opened the door on the inside of the room, the door on the side of the lobby opened, and Corry appeared from it.

"Ah, Miss Amanda, good morning. Are you up already?"

"Good morning. Are you going to wake me up?"

"Haha, no, just in case. When you're ready, let's go to the kitchen together."

"What?"

"Because you are just starting to do it, I will help you."

"Thank you. Then I'll organize myself, please wait a moment."

When I returned from the bathroom, I saw Corry opening the lid of the photo pendant and looking into it. Noticed me coming he retracted it into the pocket.

Is there a picture of his wife or lover in it? Ah, but he lives in this mansion, is he single?

I tried to ask.

"Are you married?"

"No, I'm single. Oh, are you interested in the content of that pendant?"

"Well, yes."

"That's the person in my heart."

Maybe that person has died.

This imagination ended the conversation.

We headed to the kitchen and I made the dishes that I simulated yesterday.

"Excellent skills."

"No, thanks for lending me your notes."

"No, no, it's not just following my recipe, it's also adding your own stuff."

I am also very glad to be praised by Corry.

He helped me with the dishes. The rest of the family also came to the dining room one by one. Miss Fire wears a lolita outfit.

"Good morning." I greeted, Fire stare at me and say:

"That perfume, you no longer use it anymore?"

"Yes."

"Ah -- well."

She said so lightly and took her seat. She had been wearing makeup since morning, and the air was full of her smell of perfume that seems to cost a lot.

Gilbert seems still have a grudge on me, he ignored my greetings. I happened to notice the dark circles under his eyes is deeper, looks more like the devil than yesterday.

World didn't come down yet.

Everyone has arrived, except World.

"World is still at bed!" Gunars said. "No need to wait for him. Let's eat." He began to eat breakfast.

"Let's eat in the kitchen," Corry whispered.

I nodded and headed for the kitchen.

My cooking is delicious.

As I ate, the kitchen door slid open and Gunars poked his head in. He said apologetically:

"Sorry to interrupt your meal. World is still not here. Can you go check on him?"

"All right."

Corry was about to stand up, and I stopped him:

"I'll go."

I left the kitchen and went to World's room.

I knocked on the door. But there was no answer.

Is he still sleeping? I opened the door, World fell in the middle of the room on the blanket, there is nothing around.

"OMG."

I ran to him in a hurry. He had a rope around his neck, the kind of rope that twists when pulled. World's face is swollen with blood. He was in his pajamas without the bunch of paper clips. Maybe he wet his pants when he died, I smelled urine.

I wondered for a moment whether I should feel his pulse or untie the rope first. If he's alive, I should untie the rope, otherwise if he is already dead, then untie the rope is against the principle of preserving the site. But I don't think World is alive, so I felt his pulse first and he was dead. Totally dead.

It's a murder.

In my opinion, with various teachings from forensic science, the estimated time of death is between 2 am and 4 am. Usually the dead's expression will look hurtful, but World looked peaceful. There were no signs of fighting in the room, and someone had slept in the bed. Was he killed when he was aslept——no, he should be up when someone was holding his neck, and the killer might have used sleeping pills on him.

I think about the crime scene. Between 2 am and 4 am, the killer came to World's room. Killer asked World to eat or drink something with sleeping pills inside. After eating, World fell to bed. The killer took out the rope hidden and tightened it on World's neck——

I glanced at the scene. There were no traces of diet. The killer may have cleaned it up.

Several windows were open, but the likelihood of killer going in and out was low. Because there is no rope hook outside the window. It's almost certainly true that the killer is inside this house.

I took a photo of the scene with my mobile phone. There was nothing more to do, so I returned to the dining room.

Corry stepped out of the dining room. Maybe he feels like I've been there for too long. I told him the news of World's death, his face changed immediately.

"What did you say?!"

"I have to tell others."

"... No, let me confirm it for god's sake. Is the body in World's room?"

I nodded and Corry ran over there. It 's a big deal, and he thinks he need to check it himself. I can't ignore his judgment and report directly to Gunars, so I went back to the scene first.

When I entered World's room, I saw Corry untangling the rope around the body's neck. I can't help but blame him:

"You can't do this, you have to protect the scene."

Corry gave me a glance, then ignored my words and continued to untie the rope.

"You are right. He's dead, but from my standpoint, I have to do it, I have to untie the rope."

I watched him work silently. After Corry untied the rope, he stood up and turned around.

"I have to tell other people."

His expression looks very tired.

I can foresee that there will be a big mess in this house.

Corry went back to the dining room with me, he first whispered to Gunars, and Gunars yelled:

"What?! You say that World is dead!?"

Everyone in the room focused on Gunars.

"What happened?"

Miss Fire screamed. After Corry explained the situation, there was a mess in the room.

Everyone immediately went upstairs to World's room, and then stunned when they saw the body.

"Honey!"

Looking back, Gunars is holding Fire's arm, who seemed to have lost consciousness.

"Send her back to her room first."

Gunars said palely. Corry nodded and moved Fire out.

The killer should be among these people. For sure.
