Keith dragged the confused Darwin behind him as they sneaked around the bushes in the soft touch of the golden moonlight. A frown crawled in his face as he took a glance of the moving figures in between twigs and webbings. A beaming circle of light appeared in his eyes as he narrowed his vision towards the suspicious silhouette.
He turned to Darwin who was brushing his arms in anxiety and light feelings of dread.
"You ok vampy? You seemed a little scared", Keith gave him a weird look.
"Don't understand either. Another charming human side effects" , Darwin rolled his eyes at him.
Keith grabbed Darwin's shoulder and pulled him closer to him. He never turned his eyes away from the figures slowly coming to a vivid view.
"Who are they?", Darwin whispered like a kid behind him.
"According to their filthy scent..." Keith snapped the last word. "They aren't humans nor vampires", He added.
Darwin tilt his head and rose his left brow in confusion. His eyes turned crimson red as he narrowed his view.
"I can't taste the blood", Darwin bit his upper lip in frustration.
"Care to taste mine", Keith looked at him on his shoulders.
"Disgusting", He rolled his eyes at him.
A sharp pitch sound suddenly jolted their ears that it almost fried their brains. Blood started pouring down from their eyes as they tried to scream but no sound is coming from their mouths. Darwin looked up and saw a descending figure above them. Before Keith could even blink an eye, he grabbed him by his arm and pulled him back in a speed of light.
A towering body looked down at them from across the mossy grounds. Its eyes beaming white behind a hooded cloak and an eerie vibe surrounds it.
"Don't tell me it's another mirror", A hint of sigh in Darwin's voice.
"Wait...", Keith pulled him closer.
"You shouldn't have brought the child home", the figure spoke. A very soothing voice froze the open air. The world seemed to stop at its words.
In a second, the figure took off his hood and showed his face. The soft caress of the moonlight defined his heavenly features. His eyes, beaming like a pair of diamonds and his lips slightly open as if giving them a taunt. He bit his lips as he looked straight into Darwin, and into his soul. The very core of his existence.
Darwin backed down a little as he felt a surge of pain inside his head as memories started warping in his mind. An odd sensation engulfed his senses as a familiar taste of torment struck his nerves.
"I've been following you for quite some time, Darwin Frost", The guy spoke of total dread as he raised his hands and crumpled it to a tight fist. A wave of deadly vibrations rocked the open air.
Keith went on his knees as another brain frying pitch infiltrated their heads.
"This one's a real shit", Keith whimpered trying not to take his hand off his ears. Blood dripping down his eyes.
Darwin on the other tried his best not to break the tight grip of his reality. As odd memories comes flashing back, he just closed his eyes fighting to be on the right track in the middle of a crisis. He went on fours down, facing the ground with blood dripping his eyes. He let out a deep cry of pain as a very powerful energy forced him to fall into the same pit of madness over and over again.
"I heard your human memories resurfaced. Well let's put a little twist to that" , They guy sent shiver to their spine as he spoke. He flickered in front of Darwin and grabbed him by his nape like a piece of chicken. He dug his nails into his skin and a shot of what seemed like an electric bolt struck paralyzed Darwin right at the moment.
Keith looked up to them with an absolute shock. He wanted to move or scream but his body wouldn't recognize any commands coming from his brain.
His body was left afloat in the air. His eyes turned dead pale facing an infinite sight and his arms fell back on his sides. The little frailty of his life flickering on and off at the moment. His memories engulfed him like a Venus flytrap.
"I'm home...", he heard a very familiar soft voice.
Darwin opened up his eyes. All he remembered was coming back to school after a very long day. He looked at Dahlia sitting in front of the fireplace with her forehead in a frown for doing the same knitting over and over again.
She looked up to him and smiled.
"Mama, Alex is here", she tilted her head trying to scan the room, "You should check her out, She's cooking something for us" , She smiled as she pointed the kitchen with her nose. Darwin smiled back at him.
"What do we have here ma?", He locked her mom to a tight hug from her back.
"Something for my angels", His mother let out a soft smile before touching his face sitting on her shoulder.
"Where's Papa by the way? He hasn't been home yet? It's quarter past 7 already", Darwin looked at the ticking wall clock behind him.
"He's probably finishing some stuff. You know how hard working he is. You got his diligence after all", She turned back and kissed him in the forehead.
They took dinner without his father. It's almost nine already and they have been waiting for an hour. The three of them smiling and laughing as they share stories about their days. It was a very momentous evening.
Dinner was done and the three of them sat on the fireplace. The scent of vanilla and chamomile tea danced in the air as they curled down together in a tight embrace under the thick fur blanket.
"Ma? Do you think Papa's coming home tonight? It's already ten and I'm a little worried" , Darwin looked up to her mom with a weary eyes.
"Shhhh hey, he's safe. He's gonna be ok. Guess he'll just sleepover or things like that. But we do not need to worry though. He's our protector after all" , His mom patted his head as she took a sip of her tea.
All of a sudden a strong knock on the door disturbed their peace.
Their mother signalled Dahlia to open the door with a soft smile.
Dahlia then walked slowly towards the door and took a peek at the peeping hole. She saw a familiar face that suddenly eased her worry. She looked back at them with a wide smile.
"Mama, Papa is...", Dahlia's smile suddenly faded as blood started dripping down his mouth.
Darwin screamed in horror.
His body, floating like a bubble in the midair suddenly twitched at the horrible sight in the back of his mind. Keith looked at him with frustration.
"Looks like it's gonna be the two of us then", The guy gave Keith a sinister look.
"Leave him out of this. If you wanna have some good fight I can give you beyond entertainment", Keith's eyes turned blue and gold as pulled himself up and charged towards the figure across the ground.
"Good then. Darwin is so boring these days", He let out a chuckle before flipping back and evading Keith's attack.
He touched the ground and a pair of rock clasp Keith like a sandwich but he shifted into his chimera form and immediately broke off.
"What do you intend?!", Keith's gurgling voice jolted the ground.
"Entertainment", The guy replied nonchalantly.
Keith pulled off his wings and dashed in a lightning speed but was stopped by a sudden snap.
The guy looked up to him from below with a grin. His eyes beaming like diamonds in the touch of the moonlight. His left hand moving in gestures.
"I am friends with the wind", he snapped his fingers.
Keith screamed at the pain of his skin and flesh teared down like paper in a split second. The wind felt like blades slicing through his body.
"Damn! What are you?!", He whimpered in beneath sobs and screams.
"Did I forget to introduce myself?", His sarcasm fueled Keith's anger.
The atmosphere weighted down at the impacts of the clash. Exchanging fangs and claws and magic power. Keith backed down a little. With bruises on his face and arms. He looked straight to his opponent who was singlehandedly parring him and without any scratches. He looked down in exhaustion. Finding that one link to his comrades for a help yet he cannot find one. The one person who was supposed to be the strongest among everyone around here is dying because of his memories. He looked up and tried feeding himself some energy from the moonlight as taught by Darwin. But that wasn't enough to suffice the power he had lost.
The guy on the other hand turned his attention towards Darwin whose body was twitching in the battles that he's fighting in the back of his mind.
A smile crept to his face.
"Looks like we are in the best part of the movie", He added with a taunt.
Darwin covered his mouth in full shock as he saw how his father decapitated her sister right in front of his eyes. His mother pulled him behind her. Fear, shock and anger drew her face as she saw how brutally his daughter was killed. And no one but by her own husband.
"I need to kill more", His father sounded like an eerie maniac in a killing spree. His eyes moving different directions and his smile almost reaching both his ears.
"You wretched creature!!! Spawn of devil!", Her mama threw the wooden chair screaming in pain.
She looked at Darwin who was crying behind her and grabbed his face. She embraced her in a tight hug as his father approached them in a creepy zigzag motion. His hands filled with blood and his head tilting side to side.
"Mama what is happening to him?", Darwin asked in between sobs.
"He must stepped into the some devil's tail", She replied with a furious look in her face.
His father approach them with a sinister laughter. Everytime he moves his body becomes larger and larger that it almost ripping out his suit and pants
"Spare my child, love. I'm begging you", His mother cried as she saw him charging towards them. But nothing happened. She opened her eyes to see his husband crying and looking to his blood stained palms. Guilt and pain engulfed him as he fell down to his knees.
"I did not do it. I did not do it!" ,He cried so loud.
Darwin's mother walked slowly towards him with teary eyes. She embraced her in a tight hug and cried with him.
"Something's driving me inside and I cannot control it. Where is Dahlia?" , He grabbed her face to look at him.
"She's gone. You...you...killed him", She replied with a deep painful sob. Something inside her wants to slap and strangle him but she just can't.
"No. I didn't. No. No no no...I can't", He pulled back a little running his hands through his hair in frustration and fear. He crawled back to her and softly grabbed her face.
"Tell me this isn't true, right?", Tears can't stop streaming down his face. His disfigured hand caressing his wife's face.
But she replied with it yes, with a disappointed nod.
His father closed his eyes and scream so loud that it sent Darwin to his knees crying. He looked around in disbelief like a psychotic person.
"I did not do it!!! I did not do it!!!!", He grabbed his wife's face again. This time so hard that her mother struggled to shrug it off. His face started moving in circles again and his head tilting side to side.
"It hurts! Let go!", His mama screamed painfully. Her eyes starting to bulge out in the force of his father's grip and her teeth slowly popping out. Her gargling voice filled the air as Darwin pulled himself up in horror.
"I did not! I did not! I did...I did...I did!!!", His father laughed like a maniac again as he dug his nails in his wife's face. His smile almost cracking his face open.
"Run...Darwin...", Her mother's gurgling voice marked her last word and his father split opened her skull right in front of his innocent eyes.
Darwin scrammed in terror. Breaking in the door right behind him and into the icy ground in a winter night. He looked back and saw his father running towards him like a dog. He immediately pulled himself up and ran across the lawn and into the snowy lavender field. His father chasing him in an overwhelming speed that he can't keep up.
He tumbled himself on a rock and fell hard on the ground almost breaking his nose. He scampered with a wounded face. Looking at his back.
A pair of hands grabbed his nape.
"I did not kill them! I did not!", The sight of his father's face was just enough to make him scream out her lungs.
"Let go of me papa!!!", He fought so hard to slip through his father's grip but everytime he moves the deeper his nails dig into his skin.
"I love you! I will kill you!", His father's laughter roared like sounds of death in the lavender field.
In a blink of an eye, a figure appeared behind his father and pulled his head out. Blood sprayed in the air and into Darwin's face. He screamed in terror one last time.
A hooded figure stood a few feet away from him. Moonlight lit his blood stained lips as his eyes hid behind the shadows of his cloak. He pulled off his hood to reveal a very familiar face.
His own self. But a little warped off. His hair and flowing like silver strings and his skin, white as the snow. His lips were as red as blood and his eyes, gray as the moonlight.
"Who are you?", Darwin asked.
"What the world told you to become", the other one replied.
He pulled himself up and scrammed once again but his other being blocked him in an instant.
"You weak piece of shit!", His other self opened his mouth as sharp fans dug deep inti his neck.
Darwin grabbed his hair in mixed feelings of pain, affection, suffering, torment, lust, regret, joy, disappointment...any human feelings he can describe. His eyes rolled his eyes in the sensation but his other self pulled it off. His eyes fading in colors as his view slowly spiralling down.
Before he could completely shut his eyes, he saw a very recognizable face looking straight into him. His eyes so blue like the ocean in midday with a twin halo beaming around it. He tried so hard to
stay awake the loss of blood dragged him to spirals.
"Wake up...", The man in front of him spoke.
"Stephen...", Darwin whispered before dozing off.
"Stephen...", Darwin whispered and his body stopped twitching.
"Damn intruders", The guy across the them whispered in dismay.
"You know you are fucked up", Keith laughed at him.
Darwin's body fell down but Keith immediately caught him in his arms. He put him down to the ground but another mind cracking pitch sound sent him pulling backwards.
An eerie vibe filled the atmosphere as Darwin rose to the ground with no free will. His eyes shifting colors as he looked up and into the man across him.
He let out a chilling smile.
"You weak piece of shit", Darwin whispered and everything stopped. He launched five simultaneous dance attacks towards the enemy sending it flying backwards.
"How blasphemous", The guy snapped back to him.
"What are you, a god?" , Darwin let out a grin before flickering in front of him and grabbed him by his neck.
"Nope. Actually more than that", The guy snapped his finger and Darwin's body started burning up.
He screamed in pain at the flames licking his body. He flipped back and pulled himself up. Keith appeared to his side.
"You back now, Blood Winter?", Keith teased.
"Not yet idiot. You could have been dead at this moment if I was", Darwin rolled his eyes at him.
"That's too bad because that shit's a real savage", he pointed his middle finger towards the enemy.
"What do you want?", Darwin dusted his shirt off.
"A little talk", The guy replied.
"Great! Is that how you ask for it", Keith snapped at him with sarcasm.
"I'm gonna ask you one more time. Who the fuck are you?", Darwin let out another eerie vibe.
"Hilarious. Well, looks like my brother forgot to tell you about me", The guy gave them a taunting smile before turning to Hubert's crystal cocoon behind him.
