The house was a country style with a large wrap around porch. The siding was white and the shutters a dark stained wood. It sat in the middle of 10+ acres surrounded by woods and neighbors that were farmers or far enough away to not be bothersome. There was a small lake behind the house with a covored dock. A large willow tree delicately touched the water on one side. perfect for a nice reading spot. I have always found weaping willows to beautifully mysterious.
It was magnificent, exudeding beauty and peace. The perfect place for me to hide, and maybe, if it works out well enough settle down into. I was thrilled that it was even better than I had hoped when I purchased it from the paper. Parking quickly I pulled my small bag of belongings out of the trunk of my older black Camero.
I had sold my fire engine red corvette to buy it. I felt it was slightly less conspicuous but I had a thing for old sports cars. The lines of these older modles spoke to me in a way the new ones never would.
Walking up the steps to the porch I unlock the door pushing it open to the entry way with a double staircase going up to the 3 upper bedrooms. I was thankful that I was able to purches the house fully furnished. After slipping off my shoes I take my bag and head into the living room. It has high ceilings with robust wooden beams. A grand natural stone fire place sits on one wall. on the other a vast exspance of large windows overlooking the forest. Nice and cozy.
After admiring the giant chefs kitchen and looking forward to baking a heaping pile of delicous chocolate chip cookies, I went to the master bedroom. In the center of one wall there was a king sized bed set inbetween massive built in bookshelves. Part of me wanted to dive into the soft mountain of pillows and sleep for a week. The other part knew I desperately needed a shower after being on the run for months.
The bathroom was spacious with a giant claw foot soaker tub, and a shower with a bench and multiple jets and two shower heads. I turned on the hot water, slipped off my clothes and stepped in. The warm water was heaven. The long shower easing my sore muscles and slowly relaxing my tense body.
After drying off I threw on a new pair of comfy black pants and an old faded metalica t-shirt. Shoving my newly aquired cell into my pocket, I grabbed a book off the book shelf and walked out the back door heading down to the willow tree. Large roots curved just right to make a little spot to sit down to read. I eventually fall asleep surrounded by the gentle sounds of the vines swaying in the breeze.
