Chapter 2 - Chapter 01 — Daiyu

Daiyu could smell a delicious dessert from a distance. As she walked down the street, she came across a cafe. The scent that ran up to her nostrils was so sweet and devouring that Daiyu rushed into the cafe and bought a warm, chocolate cookie. She munched the piece of sweet and then walked back home to her apartment.

As she walked inside the one bedroom apartment, she called up her bestfriend, Sierra, they had been friends since they were children.

"Daiyu! How are you? I was just thinking about." Seirra said excitingly. She was flying to London tomorrow evening to meet her best and old friend Daiyu her self.

"I'm fine! Thank you for asking. I just wanted to know when you would land here. I'll try picking you up if I'm not occupied in work." Daiyu replied.

"Oh, don't worry, I'll make my way to your apartment. Just send me your location. Don't trouble yourself, your store is opening in two days and you have a lot of things to do." Seirra said. She was absolutely right.

Daiyu's bakery was set to open this Friday. It was a store that she had been working for months and months. The day was finally going to come. She couldn't be anymore excited. Everything was perfect, from the wallpaper to the seating in the bakery. Daiyu just needed to do a couple touch ups before the official opening where her bestfriend, Seirra would come. She would fly all the way from California to London just to be with her friend in this time of happiness.

The next day Daiyu had some tasks to run before she could spend the evening with her friend. She went to the store and got a few goodies to bake her favorite blueberry muffins. The small loft she rented out for the year was just beside the supermarket and her soon to be bakery. It was easy to go and come any time of the day. She was grateful that she was finally able to move away from California and settle down here.

While Daiyu was walking back home, a man dressed in suit and tie approached her. It was as if he was running to her.

"I got your invitation for your bakery opening on Friday afternoon," the man said.

Daiyu stopped on her tracks and tried to remember who was this man was. She gave out a few invitations last week to her neighbors but that was all, she didn't remember giving it out to a handsome stranger.

"I don't really know...who are you?" Daiyu asked as she furrowed her eyebrows together.

The man quickly straightened up and pulled out his hand for introduction, "Oh, sorry, I'm Damon Park, I own the cafe nearby. You dropped your invitation to one of my employees who forwarded it to me."

"Oh!" Daiyu exclaimed. Now she remembered which cafe he was talking about. She loved their cookies. "I'm Daiyu Kerr. I just moved in her a couple weeks ago so I don't really know anyone. It would be great if you came by for the opening of my bakery. Thank you!" She continued with a smile.

Damon Park was handsome! Daiyu thought to herself. He was probably a couple years older than her but nonetheless, he was beautiful.

"Of course, I would love too." Damon replied. "And I would like to get to know more about you. You seem to be a wonderful woman. I have a thing for bakers!" He winked.

Daiyu chuckled, "Maybe some other day, I'm running late now but see you on Friday."

"Goodbye and goodluck!" The man said before walking into his car and leaving the street.

Daiyu shook her head as her cheeks turned red with the thought of that man. She hadn't encountered anyone around her age in so long.

Just before she went home, Daiyu stopped by the bakery that was still under construction. Cupcake Queen. There was a sign outside telling the opening date. The bakery was inspired by her biggest childhood dreams which was to become a queen and bake as many sweets as she could.

Daiyu checked over a few things and made sure everything was in place. Tomorrow was Friday after all. She took a deep breath as her eyes wandered across the small bakery, it was what she could only afford. Her dream was to become big and famous among her town, Onfield.

Once she left the bakery, she went back home and decided to rest for a bit, until Seirra didn't arrive in London.

Ever baker needed some rest.
