HONK!
It was early morning and Jimin and Jungkook were stuck in traffic on their way to the airport. Jimin had gotten a call the night before from his father telling him that he and his stepmother needed to see him. And despite Jungkook's estranged relationship with them since his mother remarried Jimin's father after she had been cheating on his father with him, he decided to tag along out of curiosity.
"YAH! Why the fuck is the traffic suddenly sucking ass now of all times?!" Complained Jimin as he angrily wacked his forehead against the steering wheel. He lifted his head and continued to curse and honk at the cars ahead of him.
Startled Jungkook's eyes shot open as he yawned and stretched. "Uh? Hyung? You good?" He asked a bit scared.
Jimin turned to look at him. "Yeah, sorry. I was just frustrated. It's all good now. You should just go back to sleep."
Jungkook nodded. "Okay." And he closed his eyes and started to go back to sleep.
Minutes later they finally started to move again. But as they were driving Jungkook's eyes opened again and he looked out the window, he had heard a loud clanging and honking, it was a large semi truck and it was out of control, it came out of nowhere and hit them. Their car was tossed high up. Jimin and Jungkook were flung to the ceiling of the car. Jungkook got knocked out cold and Jimin, still wide awake tried to get the jammed seatbelts undone.
"Jungkook? Hey Kookie! Wake up come on we have to get out!" Jimin frantically yelled as he finally unbuckled his seatbelt. Jungkook didn't respond. Jimin quickly got his buckle undone and carried him out of the car before it caught fire. He laid him on the ground and tried to wake him.
"Jungkook!! C'mon bro, wake up, please!! I can't lose you too!!" He said tears rolled down his cheeks. Just then he heard sirens. It was the fire trucks and ambulances.
"Kookie! The police and the ambulance, c'mon you're gonna be fine!" He said. Jungkook still didn't respond. The paramedics came and put Jungkook on a stretcher, they put him in the ambulance and made sure his heart kept beating. Jimin went in with them and didn't let go of Jungkook's hand.
"What's his name?" Asked one of the paramedics.
"Jeon Jungkook, he's my brother. Please save him," replied Jimin.
"It's going to be fine, we're going to do everything we can to save him," said the other paramedic. As they were going to the hospital Jungkook started to flat line.
"He's flat lining!" Said one of the paramedics. "We have to resuscitate."
They finally got to the hospital and they rolled Jungkook to the O.R. Jimin sat in the waiting room impatient and frantic. He called his parents to tell them the news. They would catch the next flight out.
"What if I lose him? No, I can't lose him too," Jimin said to himself quietly under his breath. After what seemed like forever but was only about three or four hours Jin finally came out to find Jimin.
"How is he??" Asked Jimin frantically.
"He's out of surgery, he lost a lot of blood and had a lot of internal bleeding, a few broken bones but he is stable now," replied Jin.
"Can I see him?" Asked Jimin.
"Yes, you can," replied Jin.
Jimin started for Jungkook's room but then Jin stopped him. "But you should know, he can't talk to you."
"What? Why?" Jimin asked.
"He's comatose, and we don't know for how long," replied Jin. "I'm sorry, Chim. Is there anyone I can call?"
"Uh, no, I called my parents they should be here within a day." Jimin said as he pulled away from Jin and ran to Jungkook's room.
When he entered the room Jungkook was laying in a bed hooked up to tubes and all different kinds of beeping machines peacefully sleeping. Jimin took a chair and sat there holding onto his brother's hands.
"Oh god! Kookie, You need to keep living, I know you, you're strong! I need you," whispered Jimin, he tried to contain his tears. He stayed there and didn't let go.
Their parents came the next day. They talked to Jin and went to see Jungkook. His mother couldn't contain herself, she blamed Jimin for the accident and refused to speak to or look at him. His father tried to explain to him that it was all just a hard time for them but Jimin didn't blame his stepmother for blaming him, he blamed himself too.
Soon weeks went by, then months, it lead into almost a year. Jimin never left his beloved brother's side. It was now December. Jungkook was still comatose. Jimin was still by his side. Jin came in.
"Jimin, you know you can go home, we will take good care of him," he said.
"No, I can't leave, I won't leave, not until he wakes up," replied Jimin.
"I have to tell you something, I already explained this to your parents," said Jin. "We were looking at Jungkook's tests and it may be a possibility that he might suffer from memory loss if he wakes up."
"What do you mean by 'if he wakes'?" Asked Jimin. "And how bad would be the memory loss?"
"His labs say that he may not survive, he's on life support."
"NO! He will wake up, he can't die, I won't let him!" Replied Jimin, practically yelling, his eyes filled with tears.
"Jimin, it wouldn't be fair to make him keep going like this, he's in pain," said Jin. "Besides, your parents signed a DNR. You should make peace with this and say goodbye." He left closing the door behind him.
Jimin sat there as he still held Jungkook's hands. "I know you probably can't hear me and Jin-hyung's probably right, I know it's not fair to keep you alive for me but I won't be able to live on without you." Jimin felt Jungkook's hand give his a little squeeze. "Kookie!" He said as he looked up at him, but his eyes were still closed and there were tears coming out the corners of his eyes. Jimin raised his eye brows and he jumped up. He ran out to find Jin.
"Hyung! Hyung!" Jimin yelled out.
"What?! Are you okay?" Asked Jin.
"He- He was crying! He even squeezed my hand! You have to come see!" Exclaimed Jimin running back to the room. Jin followed behind him. He pulled out his light and checked Jungkook's eyes. No response.
"It was probably just phantom spasms. The tears were probably just reflexive. It could've been anything," replied Jin.
"But, what if he was actually trying to respond?!" Asked Jimin.
"Yes. I hope that would be the case. But chances are slim. I'm sorry, Chim," Jin said as he left.
