Chapter 169 - Questions 1

Alexander successfully brought Qian Ling back to his room. Once she saw Ariana's face, Qian Ling was shocked to see her in such short time. Alexander quickly locked the door from behind and said, "Here. You guys can talk, but minimize your voices."

Qian Ling was stunned as she blinked, "You're actually here?"

"Didn't I already promise to come back and get you? How's the poison in your body? Did it take effect?" Ariana asked to make sure her body as feeling alright.

"That's right, but I didn't think it would be this quick in meeting you again. You're pregnant, so you should be very careful in the first three months. No need to mind about the poison in my body anymore. Alexander could cure it for me." Qian Ling said as she gratefully nodded at Alexander for his help.

"Huh? What kind of poison is it? We flipped the laboratories upside down because we couldn't figure out what's in that white pill." Chen Nan interrupted their conversation.

"The white pill was not made from any medicine ingredients. No matter how many times you run tests on it, the results would come out as error." Alexander responded as he poured himself a cup of water.

"No wonder! Then what about now? How long does it take to cure her?" Chen Nan looked at Alexander with hope sparkling in his eyes.

"One month. She needs my blood to kill the parasite in her body." Alexander said as he chugged down the rest of the water from his mug.

"So, that leaves only one issue left. Within a month, we need to figure out how to get rid of the tracking device in her body. We don't know how they are able to track her either. That's the most difficult part." Ariana rubbed her chin as she thought of something.

"Oh, right. Who is this young man? I forgot to ask earlier." Qian Ling asked as she found the opportunity to cut into the conversation.

"Oh! Sorry. Sorry. This young man is my husband. His name is Chen Nan. And she is Qian Ling, the woman we have been searching for." She introduced them to each other.

Suddenly Ariana had an idea and suggested, "I have an idea! Is there high voltage in the laboratories here? If there is, can you bring me there?"

Qian Ling nodded, "There is high voltage at one of the labs where I work at. I can bring you there in about an hour. Right now, the guards are still roaming around the halls, and it'll be too risky. How about we stay here for a bit and then head over?"

"Sure. I have some questions about the Shi family and was hoping maybe you two would have some information to provide me." Ariana said as she sat on the edge of the bed.

"What question do you have? I'll try my best to tell you what I know." Qian Ling nodded and Alexander followed as he leaned onto the door.

"My first question is who is the real boss behind Shi Corps? Is it really Shi Huang Jie? Or is there someone else behind his useless brain? I'll be quite amazed if he had the IQ to run such a large business." Ariana mocked as she recalled the information she skimmed about Shi Huang Jie and his wife, Shi Shan Shan.

Alexander replied, "I think Shi Huang Jie is only the scapegoat to suck up responsibility if a bankruptcy occurs. The real boss behind this company should be Shi Kow Wan."

"As I had expected. Alexander, you are a part of the Shi family as well. How come they never mentioned about you? If I hadn't retrieved information, I wouldn't have known you were Shi Kow Wan's grandson."

"I don't know who my parents are because I've been raised by my grandfather, Shi Kow Wan. Since young, I've lived in the underground tunnels created for laboratory research purposes. They never allowed me to ask about my parents nor would I have the chance to look for my biological parents either." He answered honestly as he had promised to be on her side.

"I see. I somehow found information about you, but not your parents. Sorry if I'm being too blunt, but I really want to solve the whole ridiculous slaughtering lab situation." She bit her fingernail as she couldn't link Alexander to anyone from Shi family's connection.

'He wasn't born from a rock. There must be a reason why I couldn't find his parents. Sigh, guess we need to move on to the next question.' She lifted her head and faced Qian Ling.

"Auntie Ling, I want to ask for you to tell me your identity in Shi family. How did you end up here?" Although she already read about Qian Ling, she still wanted to fill in the details.

Her fingernails dug into her palms as she formed trembling fists. "My husband was Shi Zhuang Guo, the founder of the current Shi Corps. I was involved in a planned car accident where an explosion occurred. When I woke up, I found myself locked up and chained. I've been here for a very long time already."

"Who do you suspect as the person behind your fake death?" Ariana tried narrowing down the suspects in her mind.

"I think Shi Shan Shan would be the likeliest person to make that move on me. There is also Shi Kow Wan because he was the one who trapped me here." Qian Ling lowered her head as she recalled the accident in her mind.

"They kept you as a prisoner because you have use to them. What did they make you do in this underground lab?" Ariana clenched her fist as she got closer to the truth.

"Because they found out I have potential in creating coding programs. They wanted me to examine humans, especially those with psychic abilities. You should know my ability after I helped you last time. They wanted to use me for research and make me help them with prolonging lives. My first task was to save Alexander."

Qian Ling looked towards Alexander and saw him shaking his head slightly. She lifted her head and said, "After saving him, they thought I could help them with the research or whatever they had in mind. I've learned to cheat them over these years where I would create clones of human cells. I helped victims escape secretly and they never found out about it. I guess that's the use they need me for."
