It was an hour from midnight when the event ended. Lily and Lin Que parted from Chen Mu and Susu as they lived in opposite directions. Instead of riding the same limousine back home, Chen Mu had parked his regularly used car across from the event. Since Christmas was almost here, he had other plans in mind.
Once they settled in the car, he took off his suit jacket, put it over Susu's body, and made sure that her seatbelt was buckled properly before driving. "Aren't we going home? This is not the right way." She asked after noticing that he made a right turn instead of a left.
"Nope. I want to bring you to a place before we head home. It'll take around half an hour. If you're tired, take a nap. I'll wake you up when we are there. Let me know if the heat is too low or high, okay?" He stopped in front of the red light and felt the temperature of her hands.
"Mm.." Slowly, her eyes closed as he turned on soothing music for her to listen to. It's been a long night, and the event was a tiring one with all the drama and chaos that headed her way. When they reached the place, it was around ten minutes before the second hand strikes twelve. Chen Mu woke her up and held her hand after they had got out of the car.
"Let's go." His warm hands rubbed against her slightly cold hands as they followed a pathway into a park. When they reached the center of the park, Chen Mu looked at his phone and smiled, "Look up there... 5...4...3...2...1"
Susu listened to him and looked up while he did the countdown. Once he counted down to 1, lights lit up in front of them surrounding a huge Christmas tree with many ornaments and sparkling decorations. Her eyes instantly lit up as she watched the lights turn on, trailing up to the huge bright star on the top of the tree.
The brightest star lit up, but that wasn't the only surprise that caught her off guard. A Christmas Carol tune played in the background and towards the end of it, the star changed from a glowing yellow color to one with mixed pastel colors. Slowly, the colors seemed to reverse in trail and trace back down around the tree to the starting point, which was right in front of her.
Her eyes followed the lights as its colors matched a fairytale theme. The moment the last LED light changed to the mixed colors, a pendant appeared in front of her. It was a pendant shaped like a pair of angelic wings with a tiny button inside of it. She looked up at Chen Mu with a curious smile as he placed the pendant in her palms and said, "Press the button."
"Hmm?" Her fingertips pushed the button inside the pendant and instantly, a three dimensional Aurora Borealis lighting appeared in front of her. The smile on her face reached her eyes as she looked at the simply designed pendant and the secret it held from within. "This is amazing! How did you do this?"
"Mmm.. not telling you. This is personally designed by me to you. If you look careful enough into the lights, you would see our names engraved in the Aurora lights." He hugged her by her waist and pointed to the lower left side of the lights.
"Chen Mu hearts...Susu on an infinity symbol" She smiled at the sight of the small signature he marked on the side. He corrected her and whispered, "It says Chen Mu loves Susu forever and ever on the infinity loop."
"What a great gift this is! I love it! Thank you," She wrapped her arms around his nape and continued looking at her Christmas gift from him.
"You see~ Aurora means sunrise or dawn and Boreas means wind. Waking up every morning and sleeping by your side at night became my motivation for working hard. Just like the Aurora princess from Disney, you are my sleeping beauty and I will be the one to save you from harm at all times. I promise you."
"Oh my.. with all these pick up lines you must have gotten a lot of girls in the past to get this good. Cheesy!" She giggled while resting her head on his shoulder as they tightened their hug.
"Nope. You're my first girlfriend. When have you ever seen me tease or flirt with another girl? Hmmm? It's always been only you, my dear." He chuckled and rubbed her back to warm her up.
"Hmmm? Talking about it...it is true... I almost thought you were gay back in school because you rarely hung out with other girls." She whispered and let out a soft laugh.
"Is that a challenge?" he loosened the hug and looked her in the eye with flirting signals all over. Though it was cold out, she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks. She turned around and said, "Let's go~ I'm getting cold. Geez, you and your hidden meanings!"
Together, they walked hand in hand back to the car and headed back home. On the way back, Susu fell asleep once again, but this time, a sweet smile remained on her face as her palms held the wing shaped pendant tightly. After parking his car, he turned to the peaceful looking angel beside him and smiled.
He whispered, "I forgot to mention. There was a myth that said if a couple showed up alone in front of the Christmas tree as midnight strikes and watched the lights turn on, then they will be able to accompany each other till old age. Even though I don't believe in these things, as long as its one that gives us hope and happiness, I'll believe in it."
"Let's see how accurate this myth is. Even without this myth, I've already determined to accompany you until the very last breath of ours. Whether I go first or you, I'll only spend this lifetime with you. Aurora lights... may the Goddess of the Dawn allow us to share more sunrises and a miracle in the future."
"My Christmas wish is for your fast recovery and for you to always smile like you did tonight. I love you." He brushed her fringe aside slightly and gave her a kiss on the lips. When she felt the familiar warmth so close to her face, she woke up and smiled, "That doesn't count. This is a real kiss."
She pulled him closer slightly and covered his mouth with hers. As their lips warmed up against each other, snowflakes danced down the cold night. It was a white Christmas indeed.
