Chapter 21 - Feverish Night

Susu pretended that everything was alright when she got home. She quickly prepared dinner like always and ate a bit lesser than usual. After washing dishes, she went back to her room, took a hot shower, and set out her portable bed.

Before she went to sleep, she had taken the medicine and replied to Chen Mu's text. He was very worried about her after seeing her pale expression earlier. Perhaps he also noticed her discomfort after eating lunch, but didn't expose her in front of Zhi Hei.

Chen Mu: "Have you taken your medicine yet?"

Susu: "Mmm.. just took it. The pill was so big that I almost choked."

Chen Mu: "Cut it in half."

Susu: "(Blergh emoticon) I don't really know how to swallow pills without choking lol"

Chen Mu: "Then you should get the liquid ones."

Susu: "I hate its taste. I'm tired. Text you tomorrow?"

Chen Mu: "Okiedokie. Sleep tight and have sweet dreams. Rest well and update me on how you're feeling tomorrow. If you still feel ill, even if I have to move the entire Tian residence to the doctors, I will. (Evil grin emoticon)"

Susu: "Haha.. Sweet dreams."

In the middle of the night, Susu sweat excessively that her pajamas was glued to her body. Her hair was wet from the amount of perspiration that came from her body. Her fever subsided when morning came and she took a refreshing shower after a night of battling sweat.

Feeling energetic like always, she washed her pajamas after her shower and went downstairs to prepare breakfast. She didn't forget to text Chen Mu first thing to let him know that she was feeling much better already.

After the lunch and the credit card incident, Susu didn't hear from Tian Yuo for another few months. Although he was nowhere to be found, Lily dug through his phone and found Susu's contact information. Over the course of these few months, they became good friends and would sometimes meet up for dessert.

Susu noticed that Chen Mu became less responsive when she texted and it made her feel slightly troubled. She kept thinking that he might be facing a company problem or personal issue that was really hard to deal with, but when she questioned him, he said that everything was fine.

"Hmmm... I guess if he says that everything is fine, then it's okay." She replied with a smiley face and continued with her chores for the day.

Meanwhile, in Chen Corporation, the area between Chen Mu's eyebrows was pushed together, showing his wrinkles. He was leaving teeth marks on his pen cap while reading a thick medical textbook on his desk.

"Urghh!!!! Why are these terms so damn long and have only one letter difference in spelling, but have totally different symptoms and descriptions?!! Holy shit, I might actually go crazy!!!" He scratched his head and messed up his favorite hair style. The stylist was on standby in Chen Mu's office, ready to take care of his hair for whenever he messes it up. This was the eighth time today that the stylist had to fix Chen Mu's hair.

The stylist curiously asked, "CEO Chen, you're already earning more than enough money from controlling this company's operation. Why are you studying all these medical textbooks and forcing yourself to this extent?"

"Do you have a wife?"

"Nope."

"Then do you have someone you love?"

"Mmmm maybe? I have no idea."

"Well, I am single, but I have someone I love dearly. She was sick a few months ago, and I was dying of anxiety when she told me she hated seeing doctors. She refused to visit the hospital or let those other humans who lives with her know that she was ill! She hated pills and liquid medicine. So, I am now studying my ass off so that I can enter the medical research labs and figure out some formula using herbs to make specialized tea for her to intake."

"CEO Chen, with your pace, it will take you probably another five years to get a degree and gain access to the labs." The stylist brushed Chen Mu's hair gently to untangle the naughty knots.

"Shush! I didn't tell this to anyone, but when I was in college, I studied some medical courses. After reading a few textbooks and memorizing most of the important pieces of information, I connected the dots and presented an alternative replacement for a certain ingredient in a drug, which turned out extremely effective. One of the famous professors and researcher in the medical field tried to recruit me to join his team, but I rejected because I wasn't interested."

"So...?"

"So, he told me that if I ever wanted to step my foot into the medical field, I can skip the long process of four to six years of studies as long as I pass the damn exams. I'll have access to the labs and every resource that he has access to." Chen Mu focused on reviewing the terms once again.

"CEO Chen..."

"What?"

"You're so amazing that if I was that girl who you like, I would throw myself at you and kiss your thigh. I'll be falling for you every day. That girl is soooo lucky!!! Now I'm jealous."

"..."

"Whoops, I burned a tiny strand of your hair! Hahahaha, you should focus on your studies."

"How could I do that if you just burned my precious hair?! Sigh, the medical field is so cruel to my brain... geez...." Chen Mu tried to concentrate on his studies and once in a while, he would text Susu back.

Actually, Chen Mu only told the simplified version of his presentation. The professor who was also a researcher that Chen Mu mentioned was known as one of the medical miracles in the medical field. The man was so great at his job that he was recognized in most places around the world. The adjusted formula that Chen Mu spent a week to modify took that world famous professor more than ten years and he still couldn't figure out a new formula.

Although Chen Mu may seem to goof around all the time, his IQ and EQ is pretty high under regular circumstances. And now, he found a reason to step into the medical field.
