Red had clearing out the Sentinel Zergs, but he looked tensed. "Are you done watching? Something is wrong here, so you guys should be prepared." He said, turning towards the area where the few from the Radiant Sect were hidden.
Embarrassed, they showed themselves, but they didn't have time to explain anything, for Red wasn't looking at them, but behind them. With his stronger mental state and his heightened perception, few things could escape his observation. He could feel a slight tremor from the ground that instinctively told him that something bad was going to happen.
"Looks like we are in trouble." Red said to no one in particular. He immediately turned and began running in the opposite direction from the oasis, as fast as possible.
The young woman and her guard as well as the other core formation cultivators were dumbfounded. They were of higher cultivation than him, but they hadn't sensed anything yet, but they did not doubt his judgement at this moment and ran as well, following Red.
Soon, they realized why that young man had decided to run. They could sense a huge army of zergs heading their way with an incredible speed. When the female guard, who was the strongest in the group sensed the aura following them her face immediately crumpled.
"How is this possible? This Zerg army is being led by a Nascent Soul power! Run will all your might!"
However, the Zergs couldn't be underestimated. They appeared to be getting closer and closer and with rapid speed. And in front of the army a humanoid Zerg was speeding towards them like a meteor.
When the female guard saw that, her heart chilled and she knew there was no escaping it. Red was the same too, but he knew that he couldn't even hope to match that disgusting humanoid looking thing. His only hope was that these Radiant Sect members were as powerful as he hoped. He hoped that Shuli was alright as well.
The female guard turned around with a sigh. She looked at the other core formation practitioners who had fear in their eyes, but they still had determination to protect the young woman, because they knew how important she was. They had grown up in the sect, and today was their day to prove their loyalty. Red also decided to fight.
The female guard was about to tell Red something, but the humanoid Zerg had vastly out sped the other Zergs and already arrived in front of the group of humans. Immediately, all the core formation practitioners and the female guard, who was also peak of core formation, began battling that Zerg. Red immediately knew that this was a losing battle because the Zerg was too fast amd powerful. Core formation experts were not its match and neither were ordinary Nascent Soul experts.
The female guard looked at the young woman who wanted to fight as well, but had been pushed back. She looked at Red with pleading eyes. "Young man, this girl is the holy disciple of the Radiant Sect. We cannot let anything happen to her, I will stall this Zerg, but I beg you to please escort her to a safe point. There is a human base in the north. You need to run in that direction."
The young woman who had been cold and silent until now had suddenly begun acting like crazy. "No! I won't run away without you!"
However, the female guard just looked at the young woman tenderly. "Don't throw tantrums. Go!"
The core formation practitioners all looked at each other and then performing a complex seal formation while the female guard performed another seal with her hands as well. When the young woman saw that she was horrified and began crying, repeatedly screaming them to stop.
However the female guard simply looked at her and Red and then said one word. "Go!"
The core formation experts all blazed like bright suns and fused into the female guard's body. She too started erupting in a blinding light like a star. Suddenly her cultivation erupted from Core Formation to the Peak of Nascent Soul to Soul Formation. She emanated an aura that was much stronger than the Zerg's and then began fighting with it.
"Now taste the Radiant Glory of my Radiant Sect!" She yelled as she collided with the Zerg.
Red looked at the young woman and then looked at the female guard and realized that this was probably a final gambit. He shook his head and said. "Let us go, or her sacrifice will go to waste."
The young woman didn't respond and began running along with Red. They escaped in the direction the female guard had pointed at earlier, but when Red checked his map he realized that this human base was thousands of kilometers away. He sighed, knowing that desperate times were ahead.
As the two were rushing at top speed they heard a shrill scream that belonged to the humanoid Zerg. It had died. However, that shriek had put a cold chill in Red's heart. He somehow knew that was a vengeful scream. After a few minutes they saw a blinding light behind them, quite a distance away. Red saw that the young woman began shedding tears and understood what must have happened.
The two didn't talk and continued to run at their top speed for an entire day. They were increasingly facing more and more Zergs. While they were easy for Red to kill as they weren't any terrifying ones like that humanoid Zerg, but the numbers were beginning to get calamitous.
Had it been any two other people, the situation might not have played out too well, but Red and the young woman slaughtered their way through these Zergs. Red could see that the woman was killing the bugs with a vengeful malevolence.
They ran for a full day before they found a cliff side where they decided to rest temporarily. The geography made it easy to spot any incoming Zergs and avoid sneak attacks.
