"Wait wait!" M had exclaimed.
The sounds of the explosions were almost deafening.
It took almost 5 minutes for the smoke to clear up, finally revealing what was kept underneath it. A tall, multistory building. It branched down quite a distance. There were all sorts of computers kept inside, with several computers shut down and buried in dust.
"No... you idiot! You just destroyed me!" M had exclaimed.
SRD looked over to M. "Destroyed you? No... you look fine to me..."
"Noo! Not this old junk, but every single working body I kept in there! Ugh, get down, I'll explain everything."
"You have other bodies...? Okay. I will get down." SRD walked over to the monitor, lifting it up before jumping down the hole he blasted. It wasn't that deep in, so it had no effect on him.
The place from the inside was covered in dust. As SRD walked, visible footprints were left behind thanks to the accumulated dust on the floor. The room itself was full of tubes and papers that were pinned on the walls. A few computers and a desk that looked quite ancient.
"Okay, SRD. Go forwards. I hope it's not destroyed..."
"Destroyed? You mean 'the other bodies'?" SRD walked forwards, coming face to face with a metallic door.
"Yes. Now kick that door down. It should be behind it."
SRD just nodded. His leg expanded a little, just after that, SRD swiftly kicked the door down. It was a bit tough, but SRD managed to get through it. His leg then shrunk back to its normal size. "So... what's so important behind this door?"
The room was particularly empty. Except for a large chamber which contained a green fluid cycling through it. The chamber had a crack, and the green fluid was flooding through the glass. Next to the chamber was an active monitor. It was dusted up, but it still worked, displaying a long list of statistics on it.
"Nooo! It cracked! Uhm... SRD, go and fix that crack up quickly!" M had exclaimed, sounding rather worried.
SRD placed M down, rushing over to the chamber and placing a hand over the crack. The fluid stopped gushing out of the chamber. "Fixed it. Anyways, what's so important inside of it?"
"Er. You'll find out. Now, while you're over there, there should be a wire sticking out from the back of the computer. Grab it and plug it inside of me. I have a port on the side of my screen."
"Okay..." SRD reached a hand to grab the wire he was told to. He looked over to M. "The wire is too short. It won't reach you. I have to let this green water out to come get you." SRD had reminded M.
"Oh whatever..." four legs burst out of M's body, two legs on each side, he walked over to SRD, before his legs folded back inside again. "Now plug it in."
"Wait... you can walk?"
"Mhm. I can."
"And couldn't you have walked with me here, instead of forcing me to lift you up?"
"Yes, I could've."
"But instead you told me to waste my energy and lift you up."
"That's a fact. Now stop complaining and plug the wire in before I spam your softwares."
"Okay, but I just want to tell you that my disliking towards you increased significantly." SRD turned M around, placing the plug inside. "Now what?"
"It's loading, give it a minute."
"Loading? Is this some sort of energy source?"
"No. But it should help us with it."
They waited for a couple of minutes. Suddenly, the chamber opened up. It let out a white gas, and a lot of pressure escaped too.
M's screen shut down completely. The square character was no longer displayed, it was just an old screen with no special properties.
"Hey M? Where did you go?" SRD had asked, his back was facing the chamber. He slightly kicked the screen to see if M was joking. No response...
SRD felt a hand grab his shoulders. More weight was added, and he could hear heavy breathing coming from behind. SRD's head turned around as he heard the breathing. What he saw behind him was quite the surprise.
An old, white haired naked man was standing behind him. He was using SRD's shoulder to support himself. He had a bushy beard, and a pair of rectangular glasses. His body was quite slim, so much so that a few of his rib bones were clearly visible. The green liquid was dripping from his body. He stepped out of the chamber, looking over at the shocked SRD.
"What are you waiting for? Get me a towel, this stuff is cold."
SRD stared at the man in bewilderment. "Who are you...?"
The man shrugged a little. "Come on, who's anyone?" He replied with another question. A smirk growing on his face.
SRD remembers that same response. "M..? You're a human?"
"Do I look like an alien to you? Yes, I am a human, I guess."
"How...? We killed all of them..."
"Not really. I've been hibernating there for three and a half centuries soundly. You guys suck at finding hidden people." He answered. M walked over to where the computer was placed, opening one of the drawers in the desk. He pulled out a set of clothes. Underwear, black jeans, a light blueish shirt, and a lab coat. He violently shook them to get any dust off. A lot of dust was on his clothes, but oh well, he can't do anything about it. He got dressed up, tidying up his clothes before scoffing a little.
"Alright, you take the screen. I'll be walking." He had ordered, leaving through the door that SRD had kicked open.
SRD watched as M causally left the room. This guy just revealed his real body... yet he's so casual about it. "Why do we need the screen? You're... here."
"Just take the screen, SRD. We don't have time to waste. Now that I'm here, they'll be on our tails."
"They..? Is there anyone besides us on Earth? I am more than certain the last humans were the two rebels who killed themselves."
"No no. That's what you think, you superficial robots. Truth is, there is still 'intelligent' life out there. And oh boy, they hate us."
SRD stared at M, rather confused of what he was talking about. "And... who are they?"
M scoffed. "It's a long story, but they're called the martians... and I'm sort of the reason behind them."
"You? What did you do?"
"SRD, it's a long story, like I told you before."
"Do tell. I'm all 'ears'."
M slightly nodded. "I will, but I'll do so on our way to the next destination. Now, follow me, they're probably on their way here." M had walked over to a wall, placing a hand over it, before knocking a few times on it. "Yeah, it's this one, destroy it."
"The wall? Okay..." SRD placed the screen down. Like he did before, his arms expanded, before transforming into a small pistol of some sort. He fired a few shots, breaking the fragile wall. Behind the walls were stairs that lead further down.
"Good job. Now let's go." M began walking down the stairs. It lead to a metallic door. M pushed the door open with ease, almost as if no lock was there.
Behind the door was a yellow, metallic, spherical structure, almost the size of the room. It had a few hollowed squares in it, around 5. Through them, another sphere was trapped inside, but made with a glass like material. Inside of the glass sphere, thousands of little gears were seen. Though, they were particularly rusted over already.
M proudly looked at the structure. "I'm glad it's still up after all those years."
SRD tried scanning the sphere. It didn't have any working parts, according to the scanner. It was all marked as 'unreliable'. "Up? No. None of this junk works, just so you know. What even is it?"
"That's a fact, yes. It doesn't work. It's missing most of its vital parts, unfortunately. But basically, this right here is an energy source. It's stronger, and way more efficient than Slesium."
"And where are those vital parts? Are you going to make them?" SRD followed up with more questions.
"No. I won't. They already exist. Just not here at the moment."
"If they're not here... then where? Please, stop being vague."
"Ugh, I was trying to bring it slowly to you but uh... They're on Mars." He said, mumbling the last sentence.
"Wait, come again. Where are those pieces?"
He coughed. "Mars."
