Chapter 2 - Chapter 1

A few weeks passed after the energy was cut out. Everything has cooled down, and the goo stopped moving completely. A few lightning strikes could be seen within the distance, which were followed up by the sounds of rain. It didn't take long for the rain to intensify, and for more lightning to occur. The cause for the sudden weather change was unknown, it barely even rained here.

In fact, there wasn't much ocean left after the A.I took over. Having no need for drinking or eating, water was useless for them. They terraformed most of the oceans into land, making the total land mass around 60%, while only 40% were left. Those little seas left were used for a few projects they had in mind. For example, the creation of underwater bases. They discovered rare materials that lied at the bottom of the ocean, which were useful for them thanks to how much pressure they can handle.

The rain hadn't stopped until a few hours later. During those hours, a lightning strike had hit the metal pole which was near SRD. Electricity, being considered as energy, activated the little piece of goo on the pole. A pleasant coincidence, this was. The goo expanded, reaching SRD's foot. When it did, it continued to expand, covering up his right leg and getting to his chest. That's where it stopped, taking up almost a quarter of his body.

The goo let out an electrical charge, before dying out, much like how it was before.

SRD's eyes lit up a bright, blue color.

"Initiating..."

"Initiation completed. Low energy, shutting down weaponry to preserve power."

SRD slowly turned his head around to see what had happened. He turned over to the tower, shocked that it fell apart. When did all of this happen?!

"SRD calling in. Where did the rebels go?" He asked.

A few seconds later, he got a reply.

"Communications were shut down due to low energy." A female robotic voice replied.

SRD nodded a little. He took another look back at the tower. "That's the only energy source. It's destroyed." SRD internally checked his battery to see how long it will last. With the small amount of electricity he got, it will only last for 2 hours.

"2 hours. Not enough." He said. He took a look down at his foot, noticing the goo on his foot. He quickly tried to follow it, seeing that it originated from the metal pole. "H m m m m" He took a few steps towards the pole, slightly touching it. An electrical pulse went through his hand. It wasn't major, but it gave him an idea of what happened. "Slesium. It got activated by electricity. It already lost most of it." He concludes. He looked up at the sky, a few drops of water falling on his lenses. "Rain. A few minutes ago." He looked back at the pole, then nodded. He turned around, leaving the scene.

"Energy is required." He mutters, walking through the streets of the city. None of the robots were active. They all were stopped in strange positions, they were all seemingly in a running position of some sort. Another noticeable thing is that they all faced the tower, which was now destroyed.

"The civilization is doomed..." He mumbles, pushing over a few robots. They fell to the ground, clearly drained of any energy.

30 minutes have already passed, leaving SRD with a little over an hour left. He needed to get any source of electricity to charge back up, but there were no options.

This was probably over for him. He only got the chance to see how the world was like after the energy was cut out. Only an hour and 20 minutes were left before all intelligent life disappears. But that wasn't how he wanted to end the world. He needed to discover a way to get more energy. Any kind of power to fuel himself.

"No time left." SRD continued walking through the city, with no particular destination.

A whole hour passes. SRD broke into buildings to see if they had anything inside, he even broke some robotic cores to try and charge himself. But they were all out. His steps were starting to get slower, and his speech went off completely.

After walking for so long, SRD notices a fire in the distance. Thermal energy! He approached the fire. It was on the outside of a building, and the fire was on a piece of titanium. SRD scraped off a piece of the goo on his chest, throwing it at the fire. If this didn't work, then all of his hopes were destroyed.

The Slesium slightly expands, not as much as it does with electricity, but it was a sign. The goo starts turning from blue to red, and emitting sparks of flames every few seconds. SRD knelt down to touch the goo. He felt a heatwave enter his body, activating the rest of the Slesium with it. The Slesium started to grow in size as it activated, covering up SRD's shoulder. This was bad, if it fully covers him, his body will be jammed. With his other hand, he started trying to scrape it off of his shoulder, but that only caused it to stick to his left hand and grow even more.

The Slesium stopped just below his neck. Another small charge and his whole head would be gone. On the brighter side, the little bit of heat managed to give SRD 30 more minutes. It wasn't big, but it was something to be proud of. Now, SRD had 50 minutes to try and revive his civilization. The fire, of course, was fully consumed by the Slesium, so it was no use to stay here.

SRD kept wobbling on, his steps becoming slower as he moved on. He reached the inner parts of the city, which were more lively. Or at least supposed to be. It was quite dark in here, hell, he didn't even know what time it was. No more fire was around. No lights, no fire, no electricity, not much left here.

45 minutes have passed, and SRD had a little below five minutes to keep going. His legs lost energy, and he just fell to the ground. Next to him were a few screens that were shattered and destroyed. Only one was in a bit of a good condition. Those screens were placed there in order to give surrounding robots commands on what to do. They were in every area, and it just happened to be that SRD fell next to one.

His vision was starting to get blurry, wanting to sustain as much power as possible. But this is where he'd stop. This is where the world stops. Millions of years later, everything they've built would be destroyed, and who knows if another form of intelligent life would appear then?

Suddenly, the screen in front of him blurs, before a green, square appeared. It had a simple face. Two circles for eyes, a bit of a mouth below them. The character wore a pair of glasses over its eyes. Which were just to smaller rectangles over the eyes, connected with a thin line.

"Hi." The character said aloud.
