Emily walks down the hall slowly, thinking about her invention, when a burst of footsteps is heard behind her. She stops and looks to see Trevor run full speed down the hallway, slapping Emily in the back of the head as he continues. "There's a time limit for eating, y'know!" He yells as he turns the corner and his footsteps trail off. Emily picks up her pace slightly when she hears her stomach rumble.
As Emily enters the mess hall, she notices that there's more people there than what she thought there would be, dwarfing the size of her school's lunch room by nearly three times. She walks over to the line and gets her lunch, and then sees Kaine waving at her vigorously. She walks over and sits down right across from him.
"Besides all of the people, this could still be a date for us." He says with a smile. "Yeah... I guess." Emily replies, slightly disheartened. "What's wrong, my sweet?" Kaine says with a worried expression. "It's nothing really. I guess I just wanted to be alone with you more often, but now that I'm gonna get trained like a solider, I guess I won't have that much free time." Emily says with a sigh.
Kaine trys to not say anything, but ends up expressing his thoughts. "It was stupid on your part to think that being trained with me would get us closer together." Emily stares, both appalled and heartbroken after hearing that said out loud. A tear bursts through what Emily had thought was a strong emotional barrier, and runs off, leaving Kaine to regret his choice of words.
