Three. Days.
I cannot believe three days have flown by that quickly. After we spent the one day together, we have become closer than we were before. Each day after we spent with our friends exploring and spending as much time as possible on the beach or in the water.
'What else can we do? Today is the last day.' I think to myself as I eat breakfast on the balcony with Mekhi.
"What's on your mind baby," a shirtless Mekhi asks pulling me from my thoughts.
"I was wondering what else we can do today. It is the last day after all," I say as I tear a croissant in half and dip it into my coffee before taking a bite of it.
"We don't have to do anything we can just relax besides we have an early flight to catch tomorrow," he says before shaking his head in exasperation.
"What," I ask already knowing his response.
"You have to relax, everything doesn't have to be planned out. How about we go out to the club tonight and swimming at the beach? We can rent the jet skis again if you want," he says rolling his eyes looking helpless.
"That sounds like fun," I say nodding my head in agreeance to his plans.
"Good grief woman, you're going to drive me crazy," he says before sipping his coffee.
"What?!? I just want to make sure we all enjoy ourselves," I say innocently.
"That isn't your responsibility, your responsibility is to make sure that you enjoy yourself. We are still going to meet my parents in two days or did you forget," he says reminding me of our parents' impending meeting.
"OH MY GOODNESS," I say because I did in fact forget about the meeting.
"There's no need to panic, just relax and let things happen as they will. When you try to control everything you gain expectations and when those expectations aren't met you become upset. What's the point in getting worked up over things that you can't control," he says in a composed and mature manner.
"You are the one that reminded me! And it is quite clear that your father doesn't like me! How am I supposed to feel," I say exasperated.
"Alright, it's my fault. I should not have told you about our conversation before. He can't possibly dislike you if he has yet to meet you, try not to get worked up over this small matter. Even after our families meet each other, if he decides that he does not like you, it's only his opinion and it has nothing to do with me. I've told you before that you are the person that I've decided to be with and his nor anyone else's opinion will change my mind," he says after walking around the table to pull me into his arms.
"Okay, I believe you," I say calming down in his embrace.
"Good, now let's enjoy our last day of vacation just going with whatever comes to mind and leave our worries for tomorrow. What do you think," he asks gently in my ear.
"I agree, but I still want to go out tonight," I say nodding my head against his chest.
"We can do that, now let's finish breakfast and go down to the beach," he says before placing a kiss on my forehead then releasing me.
We then finish our breakfast and prepare to spend some time on the beach. I fill my beach bag with towels, sunblock, a book, and a blanket then change into a swimsuit and cover up. I brush my hair up into a bun and put on my sun visor then exit the bedroom to wait for Mekhi in the living room. I play games on my phone until Mekhi strolls into the living room looking like he stepped off the cover of a swimsuit magazine.
"Are you ready," he asks pulling me from my gaze.
"Yes, we have to try and get a good spot today," I say standing and grabbing the beach bag with our belongings.
"Okay," he replies sliding his tablet and a few bottles of water into the beach bag before he takes it from me.
"Did you want to take anything else," I ask standing to stretch and put on my sunglasses.
"No, we should be fine with what we have," he says and takes my hand and leads me to the door.
After leaving the room we get on the elevator and hurry across the lobby to the beach. Well more me hurrying than him, but he goes along with my antics. We go over to the chair and umbrella rental station and pay for two chairs and two umbrellas before finding a place to set up on the beach. Being that it is late morning as we set up our umbrellas and chairs; the sun hasn't reached its peak in the sky and the weather is perfect. I stretch as I stand to remove my cover up and lay on the blanket I spread on the sand in front of our chairs. I lay on my stomach and open the book I brought from the room to pick up where I left off before. Allowing myself to get drawn into the story, I'm unaware of how much has passed until Mekhi squats next to me and begin rubbing sunblock onto my back.
"Mmm, that feels amazing," I say as he continues.
"You should probably get out of the sun for a little while," he says while rubbing sunblock onto my legs.
"Okay, we could go for a swim when you're finished," I reply with a smile looking back at him.
"I was thinking the same thing," he says taking his shirt off in one motion and lifting me off the blanket in another.
"Hey! What are you doing," I scream and giggle as he tosses me over his shoulder and slaps my butt.
"Taking you for a swim," he says as he marches us towards the water.
"You don't have to carry me like this," I giggle as he continues walking finally reaching a place where the water meets his feet.
"It's more fun this way, don't you agree," he says splashing happily through the water and I cover my face.
"Hey, you're splashing water in my face," I say failing to sound upset because I can't control my giggles.
"I'm sorry baby," he says as he finally pulls me from over his shoulders sliding me down his body.
"No you're not," I pout as I quickly wrap my legs around his waist before he can place me in the water.
"You're right," he says and captures my lips with his as he walks us further into the water until we're a little more than waist deep.
"Ahh," I yelp as he dips us into the water up to our necks.
"What's the matter," he says laughing.
"I wasn't ready," I giggle along with him tightening my hold on him.
"Come on baby, let go," he says pinching my butt.
"No," I say wriggling in his arms.
"Alright," he says and unleashes a tickle attack and I let go quickly wanting to defend myself.
"Kai," I yelp as he lifts and tosses me into the water playfully.
"I'm sorry baby," he says as he walks over to lift me out of the water.
"I no longer believe you," I say giggling wiping water from my eyes.
"I'm serious this time," he says with a playful grin.
"How do I know," I ask pouting before wrapping arms around his shoulders and legs around his waist.
"Because we can't swim if you're wrapped around me like an octopus," he says rolling his eyes.
"Yes, but how do I know that you aren't going to toss or dunk me into the water," I ask raising an eyebrow.
"You don't, you just have to trust me. Anyway you're already wet, what's there to be afraid of," he counters raising his eyebrow in response to mine.
"Fine, don't leave me. Okay," I say as I unwrap my limbs from his body.
"Never," he says kissing my lips and holding my hand.
We swim and splash each other until we have worked up an appetite and decide to go back to shore. Getting back to our chairs, I dry myself off with a towel then put my cover up back.
"Do you want to have lunch here or back in the room," Mekhi asks pulling his shirt over his head.
"We can have lunch here, the weather is so nice today I want to enjoy it for a little while longer," I answer.
"Okay, wait for here and I'll go and get us some food," he says reaching into my bag for his wallet.
"Okay," I agree.
After he leaves, I pick up my book from the blanket and pick up reading where I left off. About a half hour later, I smell the food before I see it. I turn around and see Mekhi balancing two trays of food in one hand and drinks in the other. I put my book down and stand to meet Mekhi taking the two trays from him.
"You could've called me for help you know," I say to him as he takes his seat.
"I was fine, I made it here without any mishaps," he responds confidently.
"Alright, what'd you get for us to eat," I ask shaking my head and smelling the divine aroma coming from the trays.
"Open up a tray and find out," he says taking one from me and opening it up causing the aroma to intensify.
"Okay," I say with my mouth watering opening up my own container and seeing tacos, plantains, pinto beans, and rice.
"What do you think," he asks watching me.
"It's perfect," I say no longer able to stop myself I pick up a taco and take a bite.
"Good," he says and begin eating his food.
We eat our food on the beach with the occasional breeze coming off of the turquoise blue sea. After lunch, we spend a few more hours on the beach swimming, playing in the sand, and lying in the sun. We return to our room to shower and have a nap before beginning our last night out on this vacation.
