Ring!
Ringg!!
Ringgg!!!
I wake up and turn off the alarm, then make my bed and complete my morning routine. With the weather being consistently warm and today is the first day of exams, I decide to pull on a light pair of leggings with a plain t shirt and my boyfriend denim button up that I leave open. I style my hair in a half up half down style and don't apply any make up other than lip balm. I spray my favorite sweet pea perfume and pull on a pair of sneakers before stuffing my back pack and grabbing the rest of my things and head down stairs.
"Good morning," I say as I walk into the kitchen dropping my bag in a chair.
"Good morning Lena," Mom says with a smile.
"Dad and the twins left already," I ask her grabbing a muffin to warm up and butter.
"Yes, they left a few minutes ago," she says as she has her hands wrapped around a cup of herbal tea.
"Oh okay, did you eat already," I ask her as I butter my muffin then grab a yogurt and some fruit.
"Yes, I'm drinking some ginger tea to help with the nausea," she says with a smile.
"Hmm," I say nodding my head as sit across from her and begin eating my muffin.
"Did you sleep well? Are you ready for your exams," she asks as she watches me eat.
"Yes, I slept well enough. I think I'm as ready as I'm going to be, but I'll still go over a few notes in my car before I actually go to take the test," I say confidently before eating a spoonful of yogurt.
"That's a good idea. Are you all packed and ready to go for vacation," she asks making conversation.
"No, not yet. I have to go through the things I bought over the weekend to see what I want to take with me. I don't want to take too much luggage for a short trip. I did pack up some of my clothes to take over to the new place," I say with a smile.
"Some progress is better than none. Are you going to take the things you packed up over today," she asks.
"No, I'll wait until I have a few more things packed before making a trip there," I say now eating fruit.
"Okay, is Mekhi going to help you," she asks.
"Mom, you are asking so many questions this morning," I say with a giggle.
"I'm sorry, it's just that you're moving out and I feel like sometime we don't talk enough," she says apologetically.
"Of course we do! You say what needs to be said and don't waste words on too much else, it's enough for me," I say to her reaching my hand out to touch hers.
"Maybe you're right, it's just that you are my first baby and you're moving out as I'm bringing two new babies into the world," she says with a sad smile.
"Aww, Mom. The place you and Dad found for me is close enough for me to be here every day if that's what you want. No matter where I go or how far away I am wherever you and Dad are will always be my home," I say to her.
"I'm going to hold you to that," she says with a small laugh.
"Please do," I say patting her hand.
"So back to Mekhi," she says shaking away her emotions and getting back to business.
"Mom, what do you want me to say? He's amazing in every sense of the word, he takes care of me. He's courteous and respectful…it hasn't been long since we started dating but he has yet to give me a reason not to believe in him," I say with thoughtful smile.
"It's good that you believe in him, then I won't have to worry about you," she says nodding.
"You say that, but you will always worry about me. Don't all parents worry about their children no matter how old they are," I say to her with a mischievous smile.
"Of course, but the less I have to worry about you the better it is," she says.
"I guess you're right, you are the parent after all." I say to her.
"Of course I am. I'm going up stairs to rest, call me if you need anything," she says standing from her chair and placing her cup in the sink.
"Just rest Mom, I'll come back to check on you later," I say watching her leave the kitchen.
"Okay, good luck with your exams," she says from the stairs.
I finish my breakfast, then clean the kitchen before grabbing my things to leave. I head to campus much too early for the first exam with the intent to go and study in the library. Traffic is lighter driving to campus which I attribute to the early spring breakers. When I get to the library, I cut the engine and grab my bag to head inside. As I am walking to the library building, my phone vibrates signaling a notification. I take my phone out of the pocket on my shirt and see that I have a text. I stop to read the text, then turn around with a smile.
"Good morning," Mekhi say with his velvet smooth voice.
"Good morning, what are you doing here," I ask him with a smile.
"I was leaving the training facility when I saw you driving, so I followed you," he says with a mischievous smile pulling me into his embrace.
"I always knew you were a stalker," I say laughing and shaking my head.
"We've already had that discussion. Anyway are you coming here to study a little before your exam," he asks releasing me."Yes, I just wanted to go over a few notes," I answer.
"You could come to my dorm with me, I'm going to nap for a little while," he says.
"Hmm, I don't know. I don't want to disturb your rest," I say to him thoughtfully.
"Alright, let me know if you change your mind," he says.
"Okay, go and get some rest. I'm sure you've been up since early this morning," I say to him.
"Yes, I have. I'll see you later then," he says hugging me again.
"See you later, make sure you get something to eat as well," I say looking up at him and he pinches my chin and kiss me.
"Mm, this will keep me full for a little while," he says when he's finished kissing me and turns around to leave.
'This guy is going to drive me crazy! I can hardly keep up with him.'
I shake my head as I recover my shock from his sudden attack. I touch my lips and continue walking to the library. Finding a place to sit and review my notes, I set an alarm to give me time to pack up and get to my exam with time to spare.
.…
Time flies by as my alarm goes off and I pack up to head to my first exam. I leave the library and go to my car. Once I get to my car, I place my bag in the passenger seat and start the engine. Before I have the chance to pull off, Mekhi knocks on my window with a bag and drink in his hand.
"Hey, I thought you were resting," I say with a smile.
"I was, I just wanted to make sure that you had something to eat and drink before you take your test. No matter how much you study nothing ruins your concentration like an empty stomach," he says handing me the bag.
"Aww, thank you Kai! I really appreciate you doing this for me," I say with a smile unbuckling my seat belt to get out of the car.
"You're welcome baby," he says opening my door.
"Are you going back to rest when you leave from here," I ask him.
"No, I have an exam to take as well so I will see you later," he says hugging me.
"It maybe later, later I have a spa day planned with the girls today," I say biting my lip guiltily.
"Its fine, have fun with the girls and be safe," he says kissing my forehead.
"I will, good luck with your exam," I say to him.
"Good luck to you as well," he says and I kiss him lightly.
"Bye," I say as he releases me and I get into my car.
"Bye," he says shaking his head and walking back to his car.
I drive to the building where my exam is being held and check the time to see that I have about twenty minutes left before it starts. I look in the bag and see that Mekhi brought me a breakfast croissant and hash browns. The drink is fresh squeezed orange juice. I wolf down the sandwich and as many hash brown discs as possible before wiping my mouth and grabbing my bag and drink to go.
