Synopsis
The refusal of affection for the Princess of Tulin is not a capital crime, but it has its consequences. Even though Lieutenant Ayan of the Imperial Palace Guard had not done anything like that. It was only by great fortune that he would not end up in an unmarked grave under the Tulin walls, but in Nue, a small fortress in the middle of the Black Forest. If he does not want to return to his original destiny, he must become commander of the Princess Nue's personal guard. Simple? Nothing a seasoned palace guard could do?

Chapter 1 - Pretty Boy in White

Ayan had never seen greater bunglers than a couple who was to escort him from the world. Ever since the city gate clicked behind them, they had leaped in every scrape. Sure, it was not yet dawn, but what could happen to them right next to the city walls? In addition, they shone a magic ball on their way, which would be fine for the imperial reception hall. Ayan could only hope that their killing would be a little more professional. Although who knows if their employer has not paid for a particularly tormenting death. Then maybe it would be better if they were a little unprofessional ...

"Who ...?" one of them suddenly cried, pointing his sword somewhere in front of him.

"Gentlemen," a pleasant voice answered, and from the darkness ... emerged a pretty boy in a snow-white robe. Yes, pretty boy, Ayan simply found no clearer and concise description more suited to the handsome young man standing in front of him. Judging by his exotic attire and um on his back, undoubtedly a wandering musician from Sien. Ayan recognized the instrument only because Sien music had been quite popular in the imperial court for the past few years. He knew nothing more deadly than the sound of that demonic instrument in the tender hands of the Imperial Court ladies.

The assassin grinned in amusement and hid his work tool. Ayan couldn't help sighing. The two of them were indeed a total waste of the assassin world. How many handsome boys do you encounter long before dawn far from the road and the city gate? By their behavior, it almost seemed that every morning they routinely greet two or three.

"I really like your client. What if I gave you six gold coins for him?" suggested a handsome boy.

"Uh," one of the assassins scratched his ears. The offer was obviously more than interesting. Where did their professional pride go? Do they really intend to sell him to a complete stranger and only for six gold? Ayan felt really pained. He belonged to the Imperial Palace Guard.

"I can assure you that you will not see him again," the pretty boy smiled friendly. His teeth were almost as white as his clothes.

"Well, if that's the case, let's take it," they set their hands, and as soon as the gold coins moved into their possession, there was no sign or no sign of them. The magic light obediently followed them, but for some reason, the beautiful young man was no less visible than before.

"Done," a smile disappeared from the pretty boy's face. "Lieutenant Ayan, the General wants to see you."

A meeting with the General, the most powerful person of the Tulin Imperial Secret Police, was not necessarily a better thing than death. Yet Ayan was confidently following his savior figure. After all, he had been with the Imperial Guard for too long to be truly surprised. However, when a bright glowing magic portal opened in front of him, he couldn't help surprise:

"I guess the General won't be in town," he nodded in acknowledgment.

At first glance, it was an impressive piece of magic. Ayan was certainly not without magic, but he could have dreamed of creating a portal and still decorating it with light effects. His best performance would be something he could possibly step into in the event of the highest emergency ... maybe. That is if he did not die of magical exhaustion before any portal was created.

"Lieutenant," the pretty boy pointed toward the portal. At that moment Ayan regretted that the General had never used women for his services. It would be a breathtaking look at a beautiful maiden surrounded by the glow of the portal, while her long black hair is fluttering in a non-existent breeze. The current view was also most fascinating, but at the same time he stirred up mixed feelings in Ayan. Enjoying another man's view was something that did not fully correspond to his upbringing.

"Um," Ayan returned to the present and headed for the light with a military determination.

... to enter a dark, cramped room.
