Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Student Representative

Reed

"Ah, there you are, Mr. Crawford! Meet Miss Powell. She's a new student and your responsibility as Student Representative for Freshman year semester one, is to make her familiar with the school grounds." Mr. Norbert says as I enter his office.

A girl is sitting on the chair opposite of him. She turns around and says, "I'm Paige."

I'm wonderstruck.

It's Sarah's friend.

"Meet Reed Crawford, Miss Powell. He is your Student Representative till next week. He might be re-elected, though." Mr. Norbury smiled and said, "If you have any questions, feel free to ask him, me or Miss Reynolds. Don't be shy. Off you go now! Best of luck."

She muttered a quick, "Thank you, sir." and turned to open the door.

That's when it happened.

She lightly brushed against my arm and an electric current passed between us. I don't know if she noticed, but I did.

Her blue eyes quickly caught mine and I backed up just the tiniest bit. She opened the door and went out. I followed her.

As we stood in the corridor, I guided her to her locker and she said as we walked, "You don't have to do this. I'll just hang around with Sarah."

It was as if she was trying to avoid me because I offended her.

"Hey, I don't mind it at all." I replied with the friendliest smile I could muster. The one girls go crazy over.

Not this one though.

"First of all, shut your mouth. You have spinach stuck in your teeth. Between your top right canine and molar. And secondly, I'd rather go around the school with my new best friend, and not a stranger." she replied in a very fast speed.

I instinctively touch my teeth and pick on them. As I see her getting away from me, I quickly grab her wrist.

That was a mistake.

I could feel her pulse palpitating, her flushed face as our noses were a breath apart. Her crystal blue eyes and platinum blonde strands amongst her natural brown.

She wriggled her arm but I did not let go. Not yet anyway.

"I don't know why you don't like me, but I like you. And it's my duty as Class Representative to show you around. For the next week at least, you have to put up with me being all up in your business at school. But I don't promise I'll leave you alone at home, either."

Her mouth opened to say something but was cut off by the school bell.

"Do what you want, don't follow me." She flipped open her timetable. "P.E" she said. She turned around and asked, "Where's the gym and the girls' locker room?"

"I have P.E, too. Follow me." I said as a desperate attempt to keep her by my side.

"Fine," she morosely said and put her things in the locker. She pulled out a T-shirt with our school mascot on it and a pair of gym shorts. "You can't come into the girls' locker room. Point where it is." she told me as we reached the gym.

I pointed and looked at her as we parted ways.
