Grace looked at her daughter as she remembered the conversation that had taken place a few days ago.
Lance had summoned them to the Terrorism Headquarters and had informed them of the progress in the investigation, along with a reconstruction of what had taken place in the mansion.
As of now, the initial conclusion was that the Tomorrow Project had an interest in Lys. The reason was yet unknown, but it was likely to have been related to the attack 30 years ago. The T-Project had infiltrated the event through the catering company that had been engaged for the party. Those involved had managed to infiltrate the National Identification Department and assigned themselves new identities and therefore, passed the identity check and was able to work at the party.
Now that a further investigation had taken place, this highly recommended catering company was found out to be a shell company for the Tomorrow Project, meant to infiltrate the parties of the Nobels and Elites to gain valuable information that was thrown about at such events. They would also source out those that were likely to support or affect their cause and then plan to contact or take them out accordingly.
If the green slime had not caught and paralysed them at the mansion, it was not likely that this would have been found out.
The green slime had contained a mix of healing and paralysing components, which also amplified the truth-telling serum they had used on everyone at the party regarding the attack. The investigators did inform all the suspects that they were administering said serum and everyone had complied.
The terrorists had thought they were fine as they had gone through specialised training in the past and were confident they would not be affected by the truth serum. But the slime had countered the effects of those training, and the culprits were left spilling everything they knew.
Their targets were Lys, and anyone else they could safely kidnap from the mansion. Other than that, they were just supposed to remain invisible to the "Elite" and collect information. And help capture, if needed.
They only knew those within this shell company. Anyone outside of said company was only known to the Owner, who had self-exploded when Lance's men had gone to arrest him.
As of now, that was all they knew about the perpetrators. The mastermind and leader of the T-Project remained unknown and out there.
Everyone who was affected by the attack was safe and healed. Those that were assaulted were offered the option of a memory wipe, which some had taken.
The biggest wildcard of the evening, the green slime, was tested and had a hint of instability to it. Therefore it was likely that someone had overexerted beyond their abilities or that it belonged to someone whose power was unstable to begin with.
The only likely culprit was Lys as she was underage and she had shown hints of her abilities coming into place. This was along with the blood test results of everyone in the mansion, which had shown that she was the only one, for some reason, that was unaffected by the drugs the catering company had dosed everyone.
She was also the only one that collapsed from the overexertion of abilities.
Of course, it was reported in the media that Lys had emotionally, mentally and physically collapsed as she was still recovering from her "miraculous recovery from a 30 year-long coma". No one wanted to put a bigger target on her back that was already there. Not to mention that if she could cover an entire mansion with her abilities at that age and without any training, she could be a strategic weapon with training.
They really should look into testing her and starting her training as soon as possible. Before she did anything else that caught the attention of anyone, or anything else.
Understanding the situation, Ian and Grace Ng nodded and increased their training and vetting for all the staff in their mansion. Everyone working in the Ng's household had been there for generations, and they did not doubt of their loyalty, but everyone close to them would have to be vetted through as well.
The worst step they would have to take is if Lys never stops being a target. They would have to isolate her for her safety. Or craft her another identity where she could live as another person, apart from them. It would be hard for them as her family members, and for her as well. But if that brings her to majority safely, it would be for the best.
Being alive but living apart was better than being separated by death and illness, or being brainwashed by the idiots at the Tomorrow Project to be against society. And technology.
She was close to Dean, who seemed to be her first 'friend' after she woke up. It would be a good idea if they can bring him in as one of theirs since he had been thoroughly vetted and even DNA checked. He could undergo training to act as her bodyguard, and since he was alone in this world, he would be perfect to look after her if she had to live apart from them.
Plans were formed in the mansion that was in the midst of reconstruction. They had to get as many parts in place before Lys woke up if they did not want her eavesdropping. That girl always found a way to listen in when the adults were talking. Though she did seem to stop doing that ever since she was discharged from the hospital, the meds must have kept her under.
Her tests would have to be set up after she woke up. An unconscious person couldn't be tested. The tests wouldn't be accurate because it consumed both physical and mental strength, not to mention that when an adult was tested, it only showed what their abilities were and not the strength of it. If someone whose powers were as unstable like Lys was tested while unconscious, it would only present as unknown.
Or as infinite.
Nothing was confirmed before one reached their majority.
But what was Lys?
Had she reached majority during her coma? Or was she still yet to reach it?
Grace Ng was consumed by questions and plans. Then her comms rang out a notification.
"LYS IS AWAKEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"
