Chapter 1 - Pure luck

I know that the choice I'm about to make will decide how I live the rest of my life.

« Please make your choice.»

«Skill: sword god Rank: XXX (passive)

Description: All the users sword related skills will automatically become Max level.»

«Skill: Ruler of death Rank: XXX (Active)

Description: user can summon infinite undead, the strength of the undead depends on the amount of magic power used.»

«Skill: God of magic Rank: XXX (passive)

Description: all magic skill will gain 50 levels and do 500% more damage.»

«Skill: Immortal Rank: XXX (Active)

Description: User gets 1000% more HP and HP recovery and will not lose any items and or exp upon dead.»

There are dozens more of theses skills but to realy understand what is going on I need to start by telling you about [A new destiny]. Over the last 10 years VR or virtual reality has been developing at a rapid pace. First it was restricted, only the governments around the world were alows to use it but 3 years ago one more name was added to that list.

This time not a country but a company, FT, what it stands for is not realy clear. There plan to use VR to make a VRMMORPG became the digest news and probably still is the biggest news in the last century.

People all over the world celebrated this dream come true, and now 3 years later the launch date is announced and it's tomorrow.

No one was expecting this nothing indicated that the game was coming out so soon, even the people designing, making the software of the game... had no idea that tomorrow was gone be the day.

But even so there is one plus point, on the website you can buy the gaming capsule and it will be delivered before the game starts. Not only that there is endless amounts of information on the game on there website to, from the history of ever country in game to the most absurd skills.

And me as a man with to much free time obviously both one of the gaming capsules and spend the entire day and nigh before the launch reading ever relevant peace of information there is to find.

To put it simply what I found it that:

-Every player that makes a account in the first 24 hours the game starts will be given 3 gift packages these can hold any item or skill in the game. There is a 95% chance that it is a common rank item or skill, 4% for uncommon, 0,9% for rare, 0.09% for super rare, 0.008% for unique, 0.00012% for epic, 0.00007% for legendary, 0.00002% for mythical, 0.000009% divine, 0.000001% for god.

-Items are ranked just like that: Common, uncommon, rare, super rare, unique, epic, legendary, mythical, divine and god.

-Just like any other MMORPG you need to kill monsters to level up.

-There is no max level.

-Ever level up the players gains 10 states points

-There are a variety of classes they are ranked in the same way items are. Super rare classes and above are considered hidden classes that can not be learned in any city like the others.

-A class can be changed to a higher rank class at any point in time. If the user meats the requirement.

-Ever NPC is a AI.

-There are more then 200 kingdoms, empires, and other territories in game.

-The map is about 100 times the size of earth.

-Ever player in game starts as a human, this can only be changed by meting special conditions.

-There is no PK penalty.

Even after many hours of reading this is all the important stuff I found, it's pretty hard differentiating between relevant and irreverent information if the source is a endless wall of text. Seriously can't they sort these things in to different pages everything is just trow on to the front page.

Right now I'm already siting in the gaming capsule, It was delivered about a hour ago and there is no wiring that needs to be done I only need to plug it in to the wall and everything is ready to go.

There are still 4 hours to go before the game starts but I can make my character and open those gift boxes.

The process is pretty simple I put I'm my name, Villager 34, I think it's a good name, simple but you still stand out. I don't realy have any ambition if I can make some money in game I'm happy.

Then I got the chance to change my appearance I went with making myself look older a weak looking middle aged man the sort of guy you see take care of his plants in his front yard.

«Name: Villager 34 Race: human

class: Level: 0

Strength: 1

Agility: 1

Intelligence: 1

Wisdom: 1

Vitality: 1

States points: 10

Skills: »

I see, I get 10 states points to use any way I like. I won't use them now I need to see what I get from the Gift box's first. If I get a magic skill I don't want to have put all my points in to strength already.

I asked the system AI how I can open my gift box's, it seams that they are already in my inventory and I only need to think about opening my inventory to see what I have stored in there.

Trieng it out I fount it very easy to do with just a thot I can see all the items I have right now it's just 3 whit box's.

Again with just a thot they appeared on the ground in front of me. Placing my hand on top of one of them I a message appeared in front of me.

«You got 1 Fire ball skill book»

Not bad it may be the most common, common rank fire magic skill but it's still a magic skill. Magic skills are way more difficult to learn then non magic skills, I can swing a sword 1000 times and get sword mastery but I can't learn any magic if I don't have at least the basic skills beforehand.

Putting my hand on the next box a light chone again but unlike last time this one is pink and much birther like a flash grenade blow up in my face, I couldn't open my eyes for several seconds.

Once I finally did, the message I saw saw simply put crazy.

«You can chose one XXX rank title and skill»

XXX this can only mean on thing. Either I can chose a god rank skill and title and I can't see the rank because I'm to low level, or Its a rank even higher.

And that's were we are at the present. After thinking about what skill I want to chose I had a idea. I'm not a good gamer I game for fun sure I would like it if I could make money from the game, making a hobby in to your job is a dream come true.

But I know that I can't fight and honestly I don't want to, sure fighting monsters if fine but I know that they are just a bunch of data.

I thot about becoming a thief but then I'll make to many enemy and I don't like that, it's a bother.

Looking trow the list there is nothing that realy helps me with that most are active skills for fighting, the passive once are mostly to prevent death and boost attack power.

but one of those skills stud out to me.

«Skill: god's eyes Rank: XXX (passive)

Description: Allows the user to see everything, from the worlds best guarded secret to anyone's true tots. Nothing can be hidden.

Warning: upon usage even the things the user doesn't want to see are chowed.»

I don't know for sure but I think with this skill I can just sell information like were to find a item or which NPC givers hidden missions.

The title part is easy I know exactly witch one to pick.

«Title: heavenly prodigy Rank: XXX (passive)

Description: All EXP gained by the user will be multiplied by 100.

Luck: +500»

This skill is OP in the beginning of the game but and even in the end it still is but every 100 levels you need to do a mission to advance. I'll still need to do those just like any one else.

What I realy want is the luck states boost. In the wall of text that is the games official website I found one mention of the hidden luck stat.

It was about the drop rate of items, most monsters don't drop any thing but once you kill level: 200 and above monsters you can take the core they have in there bodies and crush them, they are like the monsters inventory were they keep there treasure.

The higher your luck is the beater the items you get from them are.

This may sound insignificant but even super rare rank items will be super rare even after reaching level 500.

Unlike other games there are no level: 10 legendary items and then level: 20 legendary items.

A legendary rank item is a end game item and a common rank item is a beginners item. If you find a rare item right now you can use it with no problem even at level 400-500. There are only the user restrictions like: have more then 2000 strength or have mid rank sword mastery...

Now on to the next box. This time the light was a blueish gold not as bright as the last time but it still wasn't pleasant.

«You got 1 Intelligence up potion.»

I took it out of my inventory immediately and asked the system to appraise it, outside the character creation space I can't do this but because without it we wouldn't understand what we got out of the gift boxes.

«Potion: Intelligence up potion Rank: divine

Description: gives the user + 5000 in the Intelligence state»

There is only one way to justify me getting this, my +500 in my luck state has to have some thing to do with it. I realy wish I hadn't opened the first one jet I could get some crazy weapon or some ting out of it.

I know I'm just being greedy. I'm already stupid lucky for getting this much.

I still have a 2 and a half hours before the game starts so I left the capsule and turned on my computer. The first thing I found is people bragging about the items they got. Most of it was about rare and super rare items but there are a couple that have unique and even epic items.

One comment realy stud out to me the first item this person got was a epic rank necklace.

«Necklace: Bea's lucky necklace Rank: epic

Description: +20 luck»

The next one is a unique rank robe and the last one a unique rank skill book.

«Robe: grand wizard's Robe Rank: unique

Description: +5000 to max MP, +200 to intelligence, +100 wisdom»

«Skill book: blizzard Rank: unique

Description: creates a blizzard in a 100 meter radiance around the user. weak enemys will be frozen solid.

Cost: 4000 MP

Cooldown: 3 hours»

It's obvious that because he equipped the necklace once he got it the other items are all high tier.

I did a bit of math and if what the games website said is true there are more then 500.000.000 gaming capsules sold. the chance of feting a legendary rank item is 7 in 10.000.000, it may look like there are at least 350 legendary items out there but that's not realy true. There may be 420 or 490 but its also possibly for there to only be 210 or 280.

There is nothing to guarantee that in every 10.000.000 players there is 1 person with a legendary item.

The people that got these items probable aren't stupid enough to start talking about it that will just paint a giant target on there back.

I read a little bit more but there warn't realy any interesting items. Before I know it it is time to start the game.

I sat down in the capsule and loged in.
