Chapter 22 - 22 Coveting another

Diamond was a structured form. His aura was strongly filled with self admiration. He took lengthy strides while moving through the world. His nose always lead his way and his head always pointed straight to the heavens. His type of personality was made under extreme pressure.

Still he was a lovely sight. While returning from the North, heading towards the Southern Hemisphere, Gold and Joon met Diamond's acquaintance. Gold was smitten with his solid structure immediately. Joon did not care for her attraction towards the cold vapid being.

Joon found it hard to hide his displeasure with the situation. "Stop engaging with him.", Joon often argued. This had become a continuous topic. Diamond had decided to bless the two with his company and many stories about his favorite subject.

Gold smirked passive aggressively at Joon, "Why? Have you found new interest in me?"

Gold did not understand, Joon felt he was protecting her. He wanted her, in everyway. He just did not want to lose or harm her at his own hands. This companion was no good for them, he only caused more speration and tension.

They never talked about that night since it happened. They just went on exploring the world together as if nothing had changed. There had been a shift, especially for Gold. Her confusion made her feel rejected by Joon. She found herself lashing out in foolish ways. She did not even care for Diamond's company, but still night after night she spent hours with him. She purposely left Joon alone, hoping his thoughts would run wild. If only his passion would over take him and he would come to her, her thoughts wondered.

Diamond showered Gold with praises; to catch her attention. Once he had her attention the conversation revolved around himself mostly. He spoke of his hardships and commended his own strengths. Gold faked interest in his conversion. Each night she returned to a brooding Joon, her heart felt a little delight.

He was more attractive when passion stirred in his eyes. Every night she hoped to push him pass his boundaries back into her arms. Instead she received mixed gifts. Some nights ended in his arms; others ended with Joon taking long walks leaving her to fall asleep alone. So much turmoil caused a new tension of expectation to developed between them.

Finding it hard to maintain the new dynamic, Gold decided to return to Joon early one evening. Diamond probed, "Why do you return to him every night? I am a far better option." Gold's eyes almost fell out her head at the thought. That is when Gold realized she had enough. She retorted, "In what way?" Wrong question. She knew as she asked she did not care the answer.

Diamond began his list and Gold snuck away mid-sentence. When Diamond discovered her departure he became indignant. He went after her with the intention of confronting both of them and convince them of his superiority.

Gold found Joon waiting for her under the typical tree relaxing from the heat of the day. He looked so peaceful with his eyes closed. She almost thought he was sleep till he spoke, "Back so soon?"

She did not want to argue tonight. She actually missed him, so she laid beside him and wrapped her arms around his waist. Joon was taken my surprise. It had been a while since they started auguring that they held eachother. He became concerned, "What happened?" Joon's mind began to race with the possibilities. Diamond seemed harmless, more self absorbed than anything.

Then Diamond came rapidly into view. Joon stood up quickly, creating a barrier between him and Gold. The fire in Diamond's eyes made it clear he was disconsolate. Diamond started his demeaning monologue about Joon being beneath him and should know his place. Joon allowed him to vent for a moment. He took stock of the situation with patience.

Then the speech took a wrong turn and changed focus to Gold. He spoke of how simple minded she must be to choose Joon over him. That is were Joon lost his temper. His eyes flared with anger. He flexed his muscles up through his jawline to his temporal muscles. Without warning Joon attacked Diamond. A fist landed straight into Diamonds mouth, cutting his words short. He was taken back. Without a second thought he returned the favor and they began.

Diamond was of equal match to Joon. Blow for blow they seem to take a toll on each other. Diamond opened his negative mouth once more and Joon resolve became stronger. He transformed and consumed Diamond, leaving no trace of his existence.

Gold sat as an observer in awe.
