Kyle had been watching them silently ever since he had turned up at Mollie's house. Even though he wasn't there at the start, he could already vaguely understand what was going on; this guy called Peter wanted to steal away his women but Mollie had rejected him. He thought it was funny and said to himself, 'Shame on Peter,' then laughed as he saw that she had thrown the bouquet of flowers at him.
Peters face reddened. He felt too embarrassed by being rejected like this and also insulted by a girl. His job was to get the girl, not to get insulted by her.
So although things hadn't gone as Peter had planned, he still couldn't do anything about it as he really couldn't win against her. Even if he were to retaliate once more, who knew what else Mollie would do. Either way, he would get embarrassed by whatever he did now.
Gritting his teeth, Peter finally gave in, 'Alright, alright! I'll f*cking leave! Can you just give me some face?'
'The longer you stay, the less likely that's going to happen.' Mollie answered.
Peter wanted to fight back but he stopped in his tracks. He thought, he should just give up now. So, after a few moments of him just standing there, he then turned around and left with a horribly dark expression on his face.
Only until he had disappeared from sight, Kyle clears his throat and says to Mollie, 'Nice performance, eh?' then laughed sarcastically.
'I know, I wasn't expecting him to turn up at my door commanding me to marry him when he knows that you are my boyfriend and I'm going to be a mother of your child. Who does he think he is? He's so shameless!' Mollie exclaimed.
'I'm guessing your parents had something to do with this? As he was allowed inside your house, he must have had your parents' permission.' Kyle guessed.
'Aww, Kyle. You're so smart.' Mollie jumped closer to him and childishly kissed his soft lips quickly with a great big smile and happy eyes.
Kyle felt better that he had guessed right, because he did not want Mollie to open the door for a handsome stranger without her parents' permission. He let this pass as he knew that Mollie was not even the slightest bit interested into Peter. He returned her a smile.
Mollie clung onto Kyle's arm affectionately while leaning her head on his shoulder. They just stood there attatched to eachother for who knows how long.
Until Kyle started to feel a little cold, and so said, 'Don't you think it's getting a little chilly? Shouldn't we go inside now?'
'Sure, whatever you want babe.' she laughed.
They then walked inside the house, still holding eachother, and shut the door. They ate some tasty snacks while chatting on the sofa about whatever they could think of. He was there for a few hours and left before 3pm.
Mollie watched Kyle get into his car from her door and only shut the door when she had seen that he had left her sight.
°°°
Moments later, Mollie checked her Instagram. She saw that she had over 4000 new messages and 700 new followers. She hadn't logged onto it since over a month ago, just slightly before the night at the concert where she had her first kiss.
She went onto her messages, then clicked onto the first one. It was from her old friend, Tanya, saying, 'Hey Mollie, I haven't seen you in a while, we should meet up one day! Text back when you know you can meet. Miss you 💋' This message was sent one day ago.
She replied saying, 'Right! Tanya, let's meet tomorrow. Come to mine and then we will go wherever after. I have so much to talk to you about! Miss you too babes xx'
Tanya replied moments later only with the words, 'Great! See you then!'
Mollie read through the rest of the messages on Instagram within a couple of hours. Most of them were just saying hello or asking to meet. There were a few models who wanted to sponser her in their photos after seeing her beautiful pictures then also finding out about her wealthy and popular background.
She then put an alarm on for 6:30pm and went to sleep. Half an hour later, her alarm went off and woke Mollie from her relaxing sleep.
"That Evening"
It was 6:30pm. Mrs Harrison has just called Mollie down for her dinner. Mollie then remembers that it was her own mother who wanted her to marry that selfish b*stard!
Mollie went downstairs to question her mother. Until she sees her sister sitting at the table, eating peacefully. Katie looked so chilled and in a good mood. Mollie didn't want to ruin this pleasant mood of hers.
So, instead of angrily confronting her parents, she gritted her teeth and hid her emotions. Mollie went up to the kitchen to get her dinner, then walked back to the table with her plate in her hands. She put it down on the space on the table opposite her mother.
As Mollie was sitting down, she glared at her mother. Mrs harrison caught her daughter's gaze and changed her expression as if she had been extremely wronged.
Mollie retracted her gaze and started to eat her dinner silently until she finished.
After a dinner of silence, when Katie had gone off to her room, Mollie looked at the both of her parents as if asking for an explanation while crossing her arms with a serious face.
'Mum, Dad. Please explain to me why you would want me to marry that selfish b*stard Peter Johnson whatever! And for the money? Seriously guys. I don't understand you.' Mollie started.
Mr Harrison was the first one to speak, 'Mollie darling. You are definitely getting the wrong idea. You don't need to worry. Please don't misunderstand us. I will tell you what is going on.'
'I'm listening.' Mollie answered.
Mr Harrison cleared his throat and started to explain, 'Many, many years ago, when I was a child, the father of Peter Johnson - Harry Johnson - saved me from dying when I was really sick. Your mother was going to give birth to you very soon. If I had died, I wouldn't be able to get to see your mother or you ever. The Johnson family and the Harrison family were on bad terms until I was saved by Peters father. Our families decided that they make a deal to benefit both of our families. Both Harry Jonson's wife and mine had a child. Harry's wife had a son and your mother had a daughter. The deal was that when you had become of age, you would get married and carry on the bloodline with good wealth and power.'
'Carry on.' Mollie pushed.
'So our family owes this marriage to the Johnson family. The benefit of which they will get a beautiful and talented women connected to their family. The benefit of which our family can live a wonderful luxurious life. Both families agreed that this was reasonable as we owe them big.' he carried on.
'So, what now?' Mollie asked.
'What do you mean?' Mrs Harrison asked back.
'Well, I'm in love with Kyle now and with his baby. There's no way I'll give that all up just so that the Johnson family is happy. Besides, it's not like I'm the only possible woman to carry on their family bloodline.' Mollie frowned.
'Oh... Well Peter has already kindly said that he would bring up your baby with you and give your baby the best life of luxury possible. Kyle wouldn't have to worry about money as he doesn't have any. I don't want him relying on our family and just using all his time and effort to work for a job to earn money that he wouldn't have to worry about if he were nothing to do with us. Also, Peter has also kindly offered to give Kyle however much money he would like.' Mr Harrison proudly explained.
'You sound just like Peter.' Mollie raised one eyebrow in a concerned way. Mr and Mrs Harrison looked at her, both confused.
'So...? What are your comments?' he asked.
'I already said that I'm not giving up my love for Kyle just to have a better life.' Mollie answered.
'But our family owes theirs!' Mr Harrison got angry by her response, 'You can't say this.'
'What you're wrong about is that it's not our family that owes it, it's just you. Only you. You were saved, so you owe them. Don't bring me into this if I don't wish to be.' Mollie said.
'Young lady! Family is meant to help eachother! Not leave one another to act by themselves.' he responded.
'Why ask me for my comments if you wouldn't like my answer to be a no? Stupid.' she commented.
'Because you should have said yes. It's only appropriate for the current circumstances. And watch your words! This was a deal made years ago!'
'Before I was born! I had nothing to do with this! So leave me out of it!' Mollie shouted.
'Mollie! Stop this nonsense now! Be responsible and agree. Nothing bad will happen to Kyle, so I don't understand why you are so resilient!' he shouted back.
'You're the one who's meant to be responsibe, not me! If you don't like my answer, then kick me out of the house!' Mollie didn't understand him. She never did.
They both went silent. If he kicked her out of the house, then she wouldn't have anything to do with the Harrison family or the Johnson family's deal. This was also the reason why he didn't kick her out before when they found out that she was pregnant.
Mrs Harrison, who had been silent the whole time feeling bad, suddenly spoke up, 'Mollie, I'm so sorry about this but we really have nothing else to give to them. And this is the only thing they said was worth enough to give to them.'
Mollie had a thought, 'What about Katie? She's talented too. She has a nice voice and can play the piano. She's really pretty too. Katie is open minded and easy going. She's more into guys like him than me. She is still young so if you were to tell her now, then she wouldn't go through the same 'mistakes' as I had by falling in love with someone else. In a few years, she will be old enough and Peter's age isn't much older than hers. It would be suitable enough, right?'
'Isn't that the same. It's no different whether it's you or her. None of you owe the Johnson family anything.' Mrs Harrison answered.
'I know we both don't owe them anything. But the difference is that she doesn't have a boyfriend, she's not pregnant, she is younger so she'll grow up knowing that she will have a husband so she wouldn't think of doing what I have done. Also, she's better at getting along with others. Even the attitude that he has, she would be able to tolerate it more than me atleast.' Mollie answered.
'Thats true.' Mr Harrison said.
'But of course, we will have to talk to her about it first to make sure she agrees and tell her not to do what I have done. If she doesn't agree, then none of us are going to marry Peter and you'll have to come up with something else not involving Katie and I.' Mollie said.
'There is a problem though. It's the Johnson family. They are so rich and arrogant, that the likes of them agreeing to something from someone as lowly as I have requested are very low.' Mr Harrison said, 'But we can still try.'
'Okay, you should ask Katie tomorrow. As it's sorted for now, I'm leaving to go to bed. I'm tired.' Mollie smiled and walked away.
Recently, it seemed that Mollie was more dominant and took charge of more things. She spoke up. Mollie was in charge of her own life from now on. No one was going to make her do something she didn't want to do. She was a new Mollie. A new life.
