A Tree's Life Chapter 5 To Take A Life

Now that my little green companion (now red) had flown away, I was left all alone once again. I spent the next few cycles wandering around seeing what I could find.

I saw other fluffy creature in my adventures. Some small and some large. They came in many different colors like white, brown, black and others.

As I walked around my ability to move improved and eventually a was proficient enough that I didn't stumble and longer.

"Your 'Walking (tentacles)' skill has leveled up"

I heard the sound again in my mind. I wonder what a level is?

As I traveled around I would always dig my lower portion into the ground before the light went away so I can absorb energy from the cool dampness. I am not sure why exactly, I'm guessing it is because I use energy to move, but in recent cycles I have grown much less. If fact I don't think I've grown any taller at all. I can feel that my lower portion have grown sturdier allowing me to walk better and faster but aside from that there isn't much growth at all. Perhaps this as tall as I get.

One cycle, as I was walking around I came across a small fluffy white creature. Even smaller then myself. To describe it, it was made of two ovals, a smaller oval attached to the top of a bigger oval. Four appendages protruded from the bigger oval, the back two being longer than the front two. Also there were two elongated ovals coming out of the top of the smaller oval.

In the front of the smaller oval there was a hole, in fact there were three holes two tiny one and a bigger one underneath the smaller ones. This bigger hole was opening and closing and from what I could tell it was trying to absorb the energy around it. It too had a hole on my self, although I had no need to open it since I could absorb energy through the tubes on my lower portion and also through my green blades.

As I watched the creature, its movements began to become smaller and smaller. Then finally it completely stopped moving. The energy I felt coursing through it also completely stopped as well. I watched a little longer but the movement didn't start again.

While it was moving I could sense the energy entering the creature as well as energy coming out of it. But now there was no transfer of energy. All the energy in the creature had stagnated leaving it as a clump of energy. I say the energy transfer had stagnated, but if I focused I could tell that the energy left in the creature was slowly dissipating.

Feeling that it would be a waste to let all this collected energy just dissipate I reached toward the creature with my tubes. Similar to how I absorb energy from the cool dampness I can probably absorb energy from this creature. As I wrapped my tubes around the creature and tried to absorb its energy a sound came to my mind.

"The racial skill 'Absorb' was activated"

Hmm, I still don't know what a skill is but it also seems to have different types aside from movement.

Focusing back to the creature, I could sense my tubes sucking the energy out of the creature. As my tube dug in deeper into the creature a red liquid poored out. This red liquid was the source of energy, I could sense my tube sucking it into my system. The more I sucked the more energy flowed through me. It was a euphoric experience. I couldn't get enough, I couldn't consume it fast enough. Maybe perhaps if I used the hole in my self I could absorb it faster. I lifted the red remains of the creature up to my hole. I couldn't fit it all at once so I had to tear it to pieces and do it part by part but eventually I consumed the entire creature.

"You have absorbed a white horned rabbit kit (runt) (lv 0)"

"You have gained some experience due to the effect of the 'Absorb' skill"

"You gained 1 exp"

"You leveled up, you are now level 1(0%)"

Some more sounds rang in my head but who cares. This creature was delicious, I was overflowing with energy. I stretched out my tubes to absorb as much of the spilled red liquid that I could.

I quickly absorbed as much as I could find but it wasn't enough. I want more. I need more. I searched the area looking for more of the white creature. After rummaging around I found a burough. I could sense more creatures inside the burough. Without hesitating I crawl in.

At the end of the tunnel I found 5 more of the little white creatures. These were a bigger than the one I found outside and filled with even more energy. I could still sense them inhaling energy but I didn't care. Without a second thought I stretch my tubes out to absorb these creatures as well.

"Racial skill 'Absorb' activated"

The scene was pure carnage. I tore at the small white creature paying no attention to the high pitched screaching they were making. My only focus was to absorb as much energy as I could.
