Chapter 57 - Exposing Myself, The Truth Media

Once again, Weibo erupted into a gigantic hoohaa. The company administering the slander, The Truth Media, had just exposed an overwhelming amount of "juicy" details.

Regardless of how swiftly the management realised the error, it was too late for salvation. Indeed, they might have deleted all traces of the exposed data at lightning speed, but alas, nothing could be faster than the all-seeing eyes of the netizens. By the time the threads with leaked information were removed, numerous netizens had already downloaded them and spread them around the net.

The Truth Media may have extinguished the sparks, but the stubborn netizens had blown it up, even bigger than before.

Oh well, there was no hope in the first place. The contents in the data involved far too many important elements of the entertainment industry.

The Truth Media was a company at the age of eight years. In this short timespan, they had participated in uncountable numbers of collaborations, both big and small. Within these cases, they had specially "taken care of" more than several handfuls of notable stars. From lesser-known or unpopular artistes to stars that were forced out of the industry by anti-fans and even the hotly popular blockbuster movie actors.

Making things worse for The Truth Media were the exceptionally hardworking and thoughtful netizens. Taking the initiative, they drafted an intricate list of names containing all the stars that were "taken care of" under their charge. Looking at the extensive list, it might not seem to be an overstatement to claim that their long reach covered half the industry.

From the data and records, their most recent contract was from just the day before. 3 million, with this sum, they were hired to spread rumours about Jinli's bigotry and nasty treatment of new stars.

More dramatically, this was not their first contract involving the slander of Jinli. Despite Bai Jinli only being in the industry for a meagre 2 years, the company had already accepted 5 deals involving just her. Within these 5 deals, their profits were tens of millions. Within them, there was: [Jinli and her bigotry. The bullying of the new artiste.], [Jinli's late-night hotel activities with the invetstors], [3rd party Affair? Jinli's role in XX's marriage]

All of the scandals Jinli was mired in, almost everything, if not all, were the good deeds of this company.

The shock knocked the consciousness out of the fans. When they came to, consolations and thoughtful comments poured in from all angles of the internet.

[Oh my god! My heart breaks for you, my poor girl, Jinli!]

[What the actual fuck! How can the hearts of people be this demonic! No wonder my Jinli was so cold and heartless in the interviews. If it was me, I would have crumbled long ago!]

[I also threw shade at you in the past. For all my despicable words and actions, I truly apologise.]

[The scum who hired them are the true trash of the earth! Shame! What a shame that their identities weren't leaked!]

[i knew this industry was toxic. Yet, I think I was too naive…]

[My poor Jinli!]

[My poor Jinli!]

...

Refreshing Weibo, Jinli found herself hitting the charts once again.

 #My PoorJinli#

In one swift motion, she shot to the top.

Not only that, the 2nd and 3rd positions were about The Truth Media. Going downwards, all of it was about the poor artiste who fell victim to the slander.

In less than an hour, every single nook and cranny regarding this company were scoured through real life and the net. Every single thing, be it the address of their office or the management's identity. Literally, everything.

Subsequently, a netizen uploaded an image depicting the scene of the company's office. Glass doors and windows were shattered and destroyed. Within, not a soul was to be seen.

Very clearly, the management knew the severity of the mess they had stirred up. Wisely, they chose a tactical retreat before the angry mobs of fans cooped them up within the office,

Yet, did they truly believe they could escape?

Seeing the extent to which this incident had blown up, there was not even a slim chance they could escape. With the directors of the industry being so strict, this incident only posed an ideal chance to detoxify the scene.

  ...

In a secretive office, somewhere in the Capital, a man clad in a fitting suit stared at the files in his hand with an ice-cold, expressionless gaze.

"You mean this data was released by them themselves?" His face remained chill and expressionless.yet, his disbelief was undeniable.

Beside him, an aide replied, "Leader Long, that's right. Our men found traces of a hacker in The Truth Media's network. However, it is unmistakable that the hacker did not lay his hands on the data, It was really leaked by their own management."
