"Alright, alright!"
The lady leading the group interrupted He Huaiguang's explanation with an impatient wave of her hand.
"I don't care about the gladioli, hibiscus, and whatnot. Your guys sent these flowers to our office and caused us to look like this. That's your flowers' fault!"
Yan Nian nodded her head calmly.
"Auntie, it was the flowers' fault, not my shop's. I won't lie to you, but this store does not have poinsettia."
"Your guys sent it over personally, so how can it be fake? The flowers are lying outrightly on the ground right now. How can you explain it?!"
Hearing this, Yan Nian looked over at He Huaiguang in a carefree manner.
"Lad, I asked you. What's your explanation for this?"
"I've been wronged… I really sent the flowers you gave me. I sent them out, but before I could even leave, these aunties have already come over to criticize me violently."
Yan Nian nodded her head before turning around to look at the strict stares of the older women who were all ready to swallow her alive.
"Auntie, when my lad returned, he didn't leave the shop at all, right?"
"So what if that's so?"
"Then could you come over, sniff at his hands, and figure out what smell is on them?"
The woman did not understand.
Yan Nian smiled gently. "Don't worry, it is definitely not something smelly. Just be brave and take a whiff."
He Huaiguang didn't understand what Yan Nian was trying to do either.
Seeing that the lady had smelled He Huaiguang's hands, Yan Nian pointed at a pot of white flowers displayed at their shop entrance and said, "Now, smell those flowers."
"You wretch, what in the world are you trying to do?!"
"I'll tell you after you've smelled them."
Yan Nian's smiled brightly. She was neither fast nor slow, and she did not show a single hint of panic.
When the auntie had done so, she snorted and glared at Yan Nian. "Alright, I've done so. Now what?"
"Auntie, the smell on my lad's palms and the flowers you've smelled earlier are the same, right?"
"So what? What exactly are you trying to say?!"
Yan Nian smiled at her once again as she explained, "That pot of white flowers are gladioli. The bouquet I asked my lad to send up to your office contained mainly begonia and hibiscus, while the gladioli were just filler flowers. However, the smell of begonia and hibiscus can almost be disregarded as they are very light. Only the smell of gladioli is strong and could stay on someone's palm for a long time."
"Oh~"
The crowd who was just watching the scene looked at each other in dismay. Some were fast to react and already understood what was going on. "So this lad must have sent gladioli, or his hands wouldn't have the smell of those flowers!"
"That's right. It's just another scam. This lady has been encountering a lot of scams at her flower shop recently!"
The auntie leading the group glared back at them. "What do you mean that this is a scam? Perhaps this lad of yours switched the bouquets on the way over and sent us the poinsettia!"
"The people who switched the bouquets aren't us, but all of you."
Yan Nian's face was now cold. She no longer tried to be polite or nice.
"I'm not sure where these poinsettias came from. But auntie, did you not know that poinsettia has a smell too? If my guy did switch the bouquets during delivery, why are we only able to smell gladioli on his hands?"
"How… How would I know if poinsettia has a smell or not? Perhaps the smell has been covered!"
Yan Nian sneered at that.
She was already at a dead end and yet she still wanted to fight.
Perhaps this was what they called a troll.
She bent down slowly to the ground and used a pair of pliers to pick up a petal of the poinsettia. Thereafter, she swung it toward the aunties.
"Come, aunties, have a sniff. What does poinsettia smell like?"
When the aunties saw the flowers, it was as if they were rats meeting a cat. They hurriedly took a few steps back as they yelled at Yan Nian to not come too close.
Yan Nian pursued them with a gentle smile. "Come on, don't be scared! Just smell it a little!"
