Dwarfs and Elves belonged to the intelligent race born in the same era.
It was impossible to find out the time when the two were born, but the two races had jointly overthrown the first era that had been ruled by the Dragons.
The Elves had always been top-notch in their attributes, with strong personal combat power, long legs, and good looks.
The Dwarfs' equipment building technology was even more superb. In the first era, the Dwarfs had even been able to use the endowment of equipment building. This resulted in the Dwarfs' individual combat power being only slightly inferior, or even equal to the Elves.
The Elves and Dwarfs were the main forces to overthrow the Dragon era.
The second era was the reign of the Elves.
As the Elves' allies, the Dwarfs were given enough living space and vast territory by the Elves.
But even God could not stop their interest in digging holes…
In a myriad of ways of courting death, they dug out things pertaining to the Gods era and found creatures and Balrogs of the Gods era which had never been recorded in documents.
After they had killed many Balrogs, the Dwarfs were almost dying out.
With years of reproduction, it wasn't until the end of the second era that the Dwarfs thrived again. But they began to dig again. It was the key time for Humans to overthrow the rule of the Elves.
They dug through the space barrier and the dark creatures in the abyss appeared, attacking the Dwarfs.
In the end, the Dwarfs and Elves lost a lot and left the prosperous area of the Legendary continent. The Elves built castles and cities in Blackleaf Forest and the Dwarfs gathered in the Lonely Mountain with endless grassland.
Thousands of years ago, when the last king of the Lonely Mountain fell, the Dwarfs' empire, which had been passed down for thousands of years, collapsed. The inheritors of the Dwarfs' royal family died and some were injured. The seven Royal Dwarf families divided up numerous treasures and people, forming a new kingdom.
"Those seven Dwarfs had really bad tempers!" William had played this game for ten years and loved to dig up its history.
Only by understanding the history, could there be a sense of glory when participating in the plot during the middle and late stages of the game. One could even feel Epic!
In the later stages of the game, the players would normally spend a long period of time in one faction. That sense of belonging, the sense of pride fighting for the kingdom, the sense of looking at history, and the time when they fought with their enemies was the time that really made the players' blood surge!
So William also knew these historical events could change the situation in the Gods continent.
Sia walked over. William turned back as he heard footsteps. He found that Sia was covering her mouth and wiping her red lips, which were covered with a thin layer of grease. He did not know what she had just eaten.
"Hic! My lord, do you need mages to accompany you this time?" Sia's cheeks were red. She was eating a roasted bear's paw.
Of course, it was not the Giant Wild Bear. She did not know why, but ever since the Lord declined to provide the giant beast as magic material, she could not help but want to eat bear meat…
William moved his gaze from her soft, red lips, nodding as he said, "I need five mages. What did you make of the Dragon scale I gave you the other day?"
"It's not much use. It can enchant weapons to increase their power. If you have more, you can make armor!" Sia twirled her dagger. Firmly attached to it was a Dragon scale, shining faintly with a red light.
William blinked, not knowing what to say. He patted Sia's shoulders which he was trying to avoid. "Go, study more magic and you can eat bear meat. After all, it will increase your physique, but don't think about my pets."
Sia pouted her lips. She wondered if the Lord had a dog's nose. He could tell that she had eaten bear meat.
But looking at the Lord's retreating figure, Sia felt that he was very worried about something.
…
The town sent three hundred soldiers to Blackleaf Forest again.
William received another mission.
[Stage 3: There's a Dwarf gathering place near Border Town. There are also a large number of Orcs attacking the Dwarfs. There must be a conspiracy. Get rid of the Orcs, save the Dwarfs and receive rare minerals]
[Reward: 50000 experience]
[Reward: Unknown rare minerals]
Lautner was always by William's side. This fight was different from before. According to the scout, there were as many as a thousand Orc troops. It seemed as if there were many more reinforcements coming. Now, they had blocked the entrance of the Dwarfs' cave and were attacking.
In fact, thinking about it, this was also the location of the Orc attack.
William thought that the cave the Dwarfs lived in, should be the mine with the mythril.
In his previous life, William had been able to control the mine. It was a battle between Dwarfs and Orcs, but in the end, it was he who had picked up a big bargain.
"Time is running out, we can't sit back and see our Dwarf companions being brutally killed by the Orcs!" William shouted and led the team forward. The other Elves followed him. Running in the deep forest could definitely tire out many races, but this excluded the Elves.
Lautner had some thoughts and he said without hesitation, "The Lord wants to take advantage of the friendship by saving the Dwarfs and having them under your command?"
"Yes, what do you think?" William raised his eyebrows. The Dwarfs had a strong character, but they attached great importance to friendship and kindness. When he was still a player, he would get a lot of affinity every time he received a mission from the Dwarfs. So, he was very confident that he could bring them into the territory.
Lautner narrowed his eyes and said in a deep voice, "The targets and methods are good, but we need to be patient."
"I understand!" William frowned, but he still nodded.
To be more patient would be to let the Orcs drive the Dwarfs to a dead end and let them suffer heavy casualties, and when they felt that there was no hope, they would make a move to help.
Then, William would appear in front of them as a savior, and it would be like a miracle. It would be enough to touch the hearts of the desperate Dwarfs, he would get a good amount of affinity and might even make them bow down to him…
As for Lautner, why would he say that?
It was not surprising at all.
All of the Elves, including him, even those Mages, were loyal to William Blackleaf!
They used to be his mother's private soldiers.
Every Elf from a Royal family would have his own private soldiers.
They were now loyal to him, so Lautner was going to get the most benefit for his Lord. The Lord was his God and his light. It was enough for him to point at where he wanted him to fight, and he did not need to refute and refuse.
In terms of loyalty.
There was no race that was more loyal than the Elves. In any ancient history, most of the warriors chosen as bodyguards would have absolute loyalty.
Besides, the elegance, arrogance, or kindness deep in an Elf's bones was always displayed when there was peace.
Yet, during a battle, they would use their hundreds of years of intelligence, to plot against you.
But every era has its own protagonist.
The protagonist now was Humans!
This was more like a general trend and could not be reversed.
But who would the future belong to?
No one knew.
When William and his troops got to the Dwarf cave. They climbed up the tree quickly and silently, looking at the fierce fighting beneath them. They had pity in their eyes, but they would not let these scenes shake their determination.
