Chapter 123 - Mosaic Blood

Annie slept in the alleyway that day. As she slept, a chill went down her spine and woke up. She didn't know what that was, but it felt familiar. She looked up and saw a two headed creature crawling on the wall staring at her.

However, Annie wasn't afraid of it. All of it felt familiar to her.

The creature said in a child's voice with both heads, "You're more ugly than me. I didn't think that was possible. Perhaps, I'll just eat you and get rid of your misery. You can be my third head."

Annie stood up facing the monster as it encroached. But as it moved closer, the creature began to realize that she wasn't afraid. It began to back off thinking that she must be some kind of Light Guardian. But if it was then why didn't she transform, yet, it wondered.

Then, suddenly, Annie began to transform only her right arm into that of her guardian form. It felt natural to her. She conjured a rod and aimed it straight at the creature. The monster began to back away, but her left arm shout out tendrils grabbing the monster's legs. She was a mixture of both light and dark.

Within a second, she was able to fire the rod aimed straight for one of it's heads. A gray beam of light came flying out and struck the creature to it's surprise. And then shot another consecutively towards the creature's other head.

"What...are you?" the monster muttered before turning into a black coin.

Annie didn't know.

But then the other girl appeared. The other Annie in her mind. Or Picasso, as she would like to be called. Picasso reassured Annie that she was doing fine and that everything was alright. She even gently hugged Annie like a child. Her fingers went between her ragged hair. Even though, Annie didn't really feel anything wrong in the first place. It just felt normal. But she did being to feel a sense of comfort. The soft touch of skin, although not real, felt real to her.

Then, the girl disappeared and she was alone again. She saw the black coin and put it in her pocket. She didn't know what it was, but felt like it was important to keep.

The morning sung rose and she walked the streets. There were news stations playing in shops telling people to stay indoors during some storm. Most of the stores were closed. The only ones she saw were a couple of grocery stores and two bakeries.

But then she came upon a wig store. Their was a long blonde wig shown behind the window. But the store was closed. The sign said that the owners would come back after the storm. It seems like they gave themselves a vacation during the time, Annie thought.

Then, a voice came to her.

"Steal it," the voice said. She recognized it as her own voice. She thought it was Picasso.

"Steal it?" Annie asked to reaffirm, "That doesn't sound right."

"Right? You want it, you take it."

Then, Annie took a couple of seconds to think. She looked around to see if anybody was watching, but the street was empty. She controlled her tendrils to break through the glass and grab the wig. She didn't feel any guilt from taking it at first.

Annie put on the wig and looked at herself in the reflection of a shard of glass. It was a little loose, but she thought it looked good on her. It was long, smooth, and radiant.

She kept the wig and began to walk away. However, two young men saw her as she was walking away from the wig store. They didn't see the tendrils, but knew that they just witnessed a robbery.

They yelled for her to stop, but Annie didn't know that they were talking to her. She was too concerned looking at herself.

They ran to her and grabbed her left arm. They turned her around and saw her hideous and disfigured face. They backed away in fear.

But Annie was just as afraid of them. She didn't know them and her mind instantly assumed that they were dangerous. And that fear called out tentacles from her left arm. Tendrils immediately grabbed onto the two men. There was nobody else there to see or stop her.

But when Annie looked at them struggling to break free, she didn't feel any threat from them. She was about to let them go, but then the voice came again.

"Kill them," the voice said.

As soon as Annie heard that her heart beat ran faster.

"No. It's wrong," Annie said, but then the guy coughed out blood and Annie felt something within her come out. She felt good seeing them bleed. The bright red colors contrasted with the dark tendrils. It made her feel pleasure.

The gentle voice continued, "It can't be so bad, if it feels so good. It's not like you're hurting yourself. If you enjoy it, then you're meant to enjoy it. Keep going."

Annie choked a little harder and heard one of their arms crunch. The sound of it soothed her.

But then she snapped out of it. She began to feel sick doing this to another living being for pleasure. A part of her enjoyed this act of sadism, but another part of her wanted to puke.

She immediately let them go, and they ran away panicking and yelling the word 'monster' over and over.

Annie knew that that would cause attention, so she adjusted her wig and walked away coolly. Meanwhile, the Annie in her mind was disappointed that she wouldn't hurt them more, but in general was prideful and anticipated what she would do. She began to feel like a mother to her.
