Chapter 101 - Annie's Invitations

Annie worked tirelessly on her "art". There were still many Night Demons locked away in cages made of her rainbow lasers. They gave up on struggling to get out and only writhed and groaned in the background while Annie worked.

And when she was done, she called in Tendra to finish with the memories.

Jack watched and as time passed, more memories filled into her. However, unlike the other Jack, she didn't feel any emotional attachment to them. She felt like a hollow shell than the one in her memories. There felt no rage or violent tendencies. She felt no happiness or sadness either. Nothing but a shell.

But Annie enjoyed Jack's company even if she wasn't emotionally capable. She felt an inert beauty coming off of Jack, and she expressed interest in her constantly. They looked at the vivid imagery of the world around them together. So many colors randomly bursting from one place to the other like a torrent. The creatures that Annie created stood still like displays. Everything looked like it was ready to be presented to the world.

When Tendra was finished working, Annie was called in by a shriek. She took a pen and notebook paper.

"Time to finally open my art gallery, Jack. I hope our first guests will enjoy what we've done here," Annie said as Jack stared into the paint with dead eyes.

She entered the room for a couple of minutes and came out with two letters inside their respective fancy envelopes. She signed her signature on the back and sealed it. She handed it over to one of the small spider monsters that were crawling around.

"Make sure our soon-to-be guests get this," she ordered with a pleasant smile.

They took the letter and made their way into an opening underground.

"Aren't you excited, assistant? All my work and effort," Annie said.

"Yes. It's certainly something," Jack replied without any emotion.

Annie smiled as she caressed her face and marveled at her beauty. But this Jack was incomplete, she thought. However, now she was aware of another Jack roaming the city looking for her. She felt satisfied with her own, but she still wanted to meet this other Jack. Even if it was only a copy, she thought.
