Jack, Annie, and Tendra walked around the abandoned toy factory.
Annie coughed a little, but assured the other two she was fine. Then, she stomped on the ground five times and waited. After a few seconds, the ground began to shake. A hole was being formed in front of Annie as she stood motionlessly.
Then, when the hole broke through the concrete, a giant spider-like creature appeared. It was as large as an elephant. It had Annie's signature on it's abdomen. It was seared with hearts strung along it's body. It had a human-like face, but it was masked. The right side of it was painted white, while the other half of the mask was black. The whole spider was shrouded in a dark mist. It's legs were covered in thick bones.
However, Annie and Jack felt no presence of a Night Demon from it. This one was different than a Night Demon. It was Annie's first experiment into making a sort of hybrid. She found the spider which could create tinier versions of itself.
The first Night Demon that she experiment on was Tendra, who she found and took control of. It took many attempts to figure out how to make it obedient, but she was eventually smart enough to figure it out. She was able to conduct her energy into the needles and place them inside the monster. However, she was unaware of the effect, but she had found that she was no longer able to sense the creature. The needles conducting her Light Guardian energy mixed within the Night Demon. She had only done this technique for two of her creatures. Tendra and one other.
It was luck that Annie found a way for the creatures to hide their presence by experimenting with Tendra. She had found that mixing a bit of Light Guardian or human with a Night Demon, it wouldn't give off that specific aura.
However, the method she used was time consuming. It took a month to get Tendra to obey Annie. But after getting Tendra, it was easier to control others. As long as Annie had that monster within her grasp, she learned that she could manipulate other Night Demons to her will with it. The tentacles that the monster had could calm them down. Then, Annie was able to mix and match other creatures with Night Demons essentially creating hybrids. Annie focused on the aesthetics, but she was smart enough to figure out the details on getting it to work.
For the spider, Annie wanted complete control over it, so she used her needle technique on it's queen, the matriarch, which lived underground. For everything after, she let Tendra manipulate their mind to work for Annie.
"Good digging, my printer's pawn. I have decided that I'd like to stay at Janken City. I want you to dig underneath this building. Make passageways like a cathedral. Make a world underneath my very feet. Make it fit for somebody like God to enter. And while you're at it, spawn more of yourselves. Have the small spiders take control of a couple of humans and cause some chaos," Annie said to the spider without any fear, "Oh, that reminds me. When you create chaos, always remember to let little girls live. There's always use for fresh Light Guardians. And make sure to report and follow any Light Guardians in the city. I want to know everything about them."
The creature opened it's mouth to reveal rows of teeth and tentacles. There were also many other smaller spiders that it spawned within it's mouth. It shrieked and then closed it's mouth. The monster went back underground understanding it's task. It was just a mindless drone after Tendra and Annie were finished with it. And it wouldn't be the first. Annie continued to create more like it. She called them her pieces of art, and each one fully under her control.
Jack was unaware of creatures like these, but she felt no curiosity for their existence nor disgust towards Annie's orders for it. Annie would have given her an answer about what they were, but Jack didn't care to ask. Nonetheless, Annie still felt the need to reassure her assistant.
Annie said, "Don't worry, my sweet Jacqueline. These creatures are my pieces of art. And soon, there will be so much more. This city is huge and bustling. There are so many Night Demons already here, but I will make sure that there are more. They will be used to fund my project. Or to become used as art material. Either way, when it's all over, I will gain the attention of the world through the captivity of my art."
Jack only stared silent with dead eyes. She couldn't care, but, as long as Annie was there, she felt like there was a leash around her neck.
Jack nodded her head, "Alright, Annie."
Annie smiled back, but then coughed violently. When she was finished coughing, she replied, "Assistant, I will need your help to get some materials. We have gotten enough Light Guardians to work on right now. I hope they turn out as well as you. If not, I'm sure their bodies can be repurposed for something else. Now, we have a lot of work to do. Let's all ready ourselves for my final piece."
