And when Yune heard that name, Venomion, the only thing she could say was, "Never heard of you."
And Venomion was stunned and astonished as she replied, "What!? You must be mistaken! I'm famous from all around taking odd jobs and facing the most dangerous Night Demons around. I am the great Venomion! The strongest and best Light Guardian to ever face the earth."
"Right. Of course. How could I forget?," Yune replied coldly just wanting that conversation to end. Venomion was eccentric and child-like, but Yune didn't mind. She was fond of those characteristics. Yune checked up on Mirey, and she didn't seem to have a pulse.
"You killed her," Yune mentioned.
"Did I? Well, no matter. She was a villainous fiend. A real pain. Although, I thought my snake's venom was just going to paralyze her," she replied.
Yune ignored her and walked up to the steel door. It was a panic room. Yune conjured another set of hook and chains. She tried to wrap around the door, but something was creating a magnetic field. Her chains would spark and be reflected off the surface. Yune tried to open the door with her strength, but it was no use.
Venomion spoke, "You won't be able to open it even if you have Light Guardian powers. Mirey, along with her abilities to get out whatever gun she wishes to use, can also enhance or enchant stuff. She could make a regular gun shoot the same kind of projectiles she would normally use. In this case, she used her powers before the fight began to strengthen that metal box."
Yune sighed, "You got any ideas?"
"I do," she replied with a smile as she sent in some more snakes. They squeezed and slipped through the small cracks within the metal room. They squirmed inside the locking mechanism and began messing around.
Yune asked questions to Venomion while her snakes were doing work.
"So, Venomion, was it? Why are you here?"
"I've been watching this gang for some time planning meticulously on breaking into the boss's quarters. I was planning on getting rid of the boss of the Kaiser Dragon Gang. My biggest obstacle was Mirey, but you were an excellent diversion."
"Doesn't sound like normal Light Guardian activities. Shouldn't you be fighting Night Demons or something?"
"I could be asking you the same. Yet, here we both are. And before you ask, no - I was not hired by a rival gang. I have some integrity as a guardian for hire."
"Guardian for hire?"
"Oh, it's not like my clients know that I'm a Light Guardian. Just that I get the job done. Sometimes I get paid to help a woman with her groceries. Sometimes, it's to assassinate a low-life thug. All depends. But one thing for certain is that I don't do it for free. And my prices vary depending on the person."
Yune never heard of a Light Guardian doing work like that. It was strange for her to hear such a thing existed.
Venomion continued pridefully, "Well, as I said, I wasn't hired for this one. This one is a Night Demon hunt."
"Night Demon? I don't sense any."
"I know. Neither did I, but I saw it with my own two eyes including those of my snakes'. Let me explain it in full detail."
Yune didn't feel like listening to the specific, but she didn't have much of a choice. The metal door was locked and enchanted by some kind of magic.
Venomion coughed and spoke like she was telling a tale, "I saw it as clear as day, although it was night. There I was eating a submarine sandwich outside on a nearby rooftop, and all of a sudden I saw a spider the size of my hand. It stared right at me. However, knowing how brave I am, I quickly jumped back with barely a scream. Just a little bit of a scream, really. Nothing that would wake up the neighbors. And then the spider jumped back in response, but as I looked closer, it was more than just a spider. It's body looked like it was made of blackened bird bones. The creature had something like a mask for a head. Half of it white while the other black. It looked to have no eyes, but I could tell it was looking right at me. Then, the creature opened it's mouth which separated the mask into it's two separate colors. It revealed multiple lizard-like tongues with rows of teeth. It was not a normal spider to say the least. That's when it tried to jump at me. It went straight for my face. Luckily, I was able to transform in time. My snakes protected me, and before I knew it, the creature fled as soon it saw me as a threat. It was smart to do so because I am the strongest Light Guardian around. Anyways, more the point, my snakes and I chased it around in circles. That was until it found somebody it could latch onto. It jumped onto a man's face just having a nice dinner outside. Nobody else saw it, but me and the poor unfortunate man. The spider burrowed it's way underneath the man's eye. He screamed for people to help and his guards showed up, but then he became silent. He became as calm as anybody else. And when I jumped in to try and get the spider out of him, his guards attacked me. They weren't much of a problem, but then Mirey came. I barely got out of there. Ever since, I've been watching that man. He was the boss of this prestigious gang, which you turned into a bloodbath. I planned to try and sneak in, but then you came along. You just walked right up to the building and attacked. I thought you were crazy, but I saw it as a chance. Then, you reached Mirey and we both know what happened there. I watched your battle, and decided to help you out. A little thanks for getting me this far."
"So, you said that there was a Night Demon inside the gang boss. You plan on just getting rid of the monster? Nothing more?" Yune asked. Venomion didn't seem like a bad person. Yune could believe that there was a Night Demon involved even if you couldn't sense it. She was unable to detect Tasha the first time they went after it. But Yune wanted to know whether Venomion would try to stop Yune from killing any more people, but it didn't look like that. If she wanted to stop Yune, then she wouldn't have used a black coin to heal her.
Venomion was a nice person. But she was greedy. She liked money and all the material things she could get with it. However, that didn't mean that she was without morals. If she felt like she owed somebody, then she would immediately try to owe that person back. That was what she felt when Yune fought Mirey even though that they have never met before.
"Well, this guy is a real piece of trash. I've done my research on this gang and even before this spider entered inside him, their gang has been doing a lot of damage to poor folk. However, ever since that spider entered inside his head, the gang has been increasingly violent," Venomion said.
"When did this spider get inside of him?" Yune asked.
"Around a month ago."
"A month? And you didn't do anything about it in that time?" Yune exclaimed.
"I wish I could have, but all I've been able to do was watch at a safe distance until today. As I said, Mirey was the biggest issue, but those two were very close. They're daughter and father after all. However, I don't get the appeal."
Venomion stared straight at Yune's black and white eyes. She didn't think there was anything strange about it. She just thought it was part of her transformation - purely cosmetic.
Then Venomion continued, "If you do plan on killing him, I won't stand in your way. It might make the world a better place without him, anyways. Night Demons. Criminals. All the same to me. It feels like justice what you did. Although, your methods are very much brutish."
"Night Demons. Criminals and, generally, Humans. Even Light Guardians. I've begun to realize that they aren't so different from each other," Yune replied.
"Then, we can both agree to that," Venomion said.
Yune felt a connection with Venomion. It was like they were similar. However, their main difference was that Venomion was motivated by money. Yune's motivations was that she felt like the world betrayed her for killing Mizu. And all she could think about was getting back at the world.
Then, as Yune was about to ask another question, the locks on the door sprung open.
"Ahh. There we go. My lovely snakes never let me down," Venomion said.
