Yune remembered. She remembered everything. It all came back to her. And then, she realized where she was. She was back at the hospital room with Eli lying on a bed.
Eli was clearly older than Yune remembered, but that didn't matter.
"Eli... Mizu..." Yune muttered.
Her mask shattered. Her cloak vanished. Eli saw Yune for what she became, but wasn't afraid.
Then, Yune held her hook-blade to Eli's throat, again.
"Why? Why did you betray me?" Yune asked, "I don't understand. Did you think I was so far gone?"
Eli coughed and replied, "No. Never. I regretted what I did to you all those years ago. I thought there was a Night Demon behind you. It looked as though it was about to attack you, but the next thing I knew it was my blade piercing through you."
There was no lie in Eli's words. And Yune knew that. She pulled away her hook-blade.
When one of the late-night nurses came inside the room to see what was all the noise, she immediately turned on the lights. There was only Eli there lying on her bed awake. The window was wide open as the breeze came in.
"Is there something wrong?" Eli asked the nurse.
"I should be asking you that. I heard some sounds. Everything alright?" the nurse asked politely.
Eli was silent. At first, she believed that what she saw was just a dream. But there was a feeling in her gut that told her it was real. She smiled at the open window where Yune left from.
"I'm glad you're safe, Yune," Eli whispered hoping that it would reach her friend. And it did. Yune was just outside hanging on to the exterior of the building with her hook. Yune heard the footsteps and left before she could be seen.
Then, Yune leapt off into the night. Her memories returned, but she needed time to think. There was so much emotion in those memories, that she could not hold back tears.
"Mizu..." Yune muttered once more as she disappeared.
