As usual the police couldn't do anything to find out what happened to Mizu. The shopkeeper hid any evidence of Light Guardians and Night Demons, but did nothing else.
However, that wouldn't stop Yune and Eli to make their own investigation. While both of them mourned, Yune felt a sudden sense for revenge. When she recalled the scene, she thought that it was strange. At first, they both assumed it was the Night Demon, but Yune began to doubt that. She found a black coin there, but that would mean that Mizu was able to defeat the creature. It would either mean that Mizu and the creature killed each other, or that there was a second party. It could have been another Night Demon, but when Yune looked at the tracks walking away from Mizu's body, they looked like footprints. They were big and could have belonged to a bipedal monster, but Yune just had a feeling in her gut. She began to suspect that it was another Light Guardian. It was instinct and previous assumptions that led her to believe that. But there was no proof on who or what did it.
But out of everything, Yune just couldn't believe it that Mizu was dead. She only thought about the scene just to get her mind working.
Eli took Mizu's death hard, but Yune took it even harder. Her opinion about needing to stay together cemented. And when she began to suspect another Light Guardian of doing it, she began to suspect any of them were responsible even if it didn't seem likely. Her opinions cemented from an egg shell into steel. And Eli had nothing to say about it. She couldn't deny it. Even she had begun to feel angry at the world, but she also knew that there was nothing that could be done to bring Mizu back.
Yune began to lie around depressed while Eli had to take care of the food. They didn't go to school for a while, but the teachers understood their situation.
For a week, the two just stayed inside their home quietly. The whole world began to look grey as her depression continued to sink in. They barely talked to each other. Sometimes, they would just acknowledge each other and that was it.
Then, all of a sudden, Yune had enough. She was sick and tired of laying around. She needed answers as her head continued to try and make sense of it.
Yune got up and began to stomp around. Eli followed Yune wondering what she was doing. She paced back and forth scratching her head. Then, she remembered that they still had the black coin that dropped near Mizu's body. It was put away in a drawer and when Yune took it out, she looked her own reflection. Her sadness grew to anger. There was a hint of madness in her eyes.
Yune yelled, "Shopkeep. Shopkeep. Shopkeep. Get over here!"
The shopkeeper appeared and said, "What do you ne-?'
Yune held out the black coin and quickly commanded, "Tell me. Who killed Mizu?"
"I can't tell you who killed her," the shopkeeper replied.
"So, it is a who. Not a Night Demon," Yune concluded holding back her coin.
"Oh, uh," the shopkeeper said without knowing how to respond.
Eli looked in stun and exclaimed, "What? A Light Guardian did this?"
"I-uh-can't tell you that," the shopkeeper replied.
"If it was a Night Demon, you wouldn't have any reason to protect it. You would have actually given us it's location by now just so you can get a coin. That is all you care about," Yune said. She was angry and cold.
The shopkeeper went silent. Eli was surprised and began to tear up, but wiped away her tears. She also wanted to find who did it.
"We'll give you the black coin if you tell us who killed her," Eli said.
"He won't. It has to be a Light Guardian, otherwise he would have told us already. He wouldn't want to risk losing a potential source of income," Yune said, "Don't worry, Eli. We'll find this murderer and make her pay."
The shopkeeper was impressed by Yune and Eli. Their resolve and wits. They were no longer considered the top guardians of the city, but he still thought they could be helpful in hunting Night Demons. Unfortunately, he still couldn't give out the Light Guardian who did the crime. She was also good at getting black coins at times.
Yune then asked the shopkeeper, "Maybe, you can't help us. But how about a hint? Anything that would help us, and we'll give you this black coin."
She held out the coin and the shopkeeper did want it. It's attraction was impossible to counteract.
The shopkeeper took the black coin and said, "Alright. I'll give you a list of Light Guardians who were in the area at the time. They were spotted near the area by security cams and my own eyes. Any one of them could have done it. That should be sufficient to start your investigation."
Yune smiled and nodded her head. Then the shopkeeper disappeared leaving behind a paper. He didn't care about what would happen to those girls. He just wanted that black coin no matter what trouble would happen to them. It included names of Light Guardians. Eli and Yune looked at the list.
Yune couldn't remember every name on the list, but she did remember the first two.
The list contained:
-Ava Reid
-Mia Reid
It was a short list of names, which made the search even easier. They both knew that one of these girls killed Mizu. Yune and Eli both looked at each other with resolve. They both wanted to find the murderer. Yune had no plans of letting this go. And she had no plans for mercy.
