The Ye family was many things, but to stoop so low as to compete in frivolous games was not one of them.
At least, Ye Xiu won the competition. Maybe that's why the family didn't do anything else to hinder him when he proved time and time again that he could beat the family against their own game. Excellent Era's Tang Hao didn't just think of letting go of their star captain without a lot of money and power involved after all.
Ye Qiu was witness to how Tang Hao eventually caved in under the power and pressure from the family and grieved a little but for his brother's lost dreams...
But just a year after and he already managed to get back on his feet, it was no wonder his father finally gave up with his scheming.
And sometimes Ye Qiu wondered, what would it have been like if not only Ye Xiu went with the Su siblings but he as well? Would he be playing against his brother right now in Samsara... or would he be playing alongside them with his forgotten character, Windbreaker?
His thoughts were interrupted when, "I thought you didn't want to watch us compete?" was heard.
Ye Xiu was outside the room, with bits of confetti still in his hair and his team jacket half opened.
"I couldn't resist watching for the last time."
"This doesn't have to be the end. Why don't you replace me instead? We could exchange roles again, just like what we did when we won for the second time."
His eyes narrowed at that remark, not a lot of people knew that Ye Xiu became occupied with family business during the time of the second championships and begged his brother to compete in his stead. It was easy that he never spoke and always wore masks back then, no one, not even Su Mucheng knew that it wasn't Ye Xiu she played with to win their second competition.
"You know that can't happen again... even if I really wanted to. Which I don't." Ye Qiu earned a raised eyebrow from that, even after ten years of separation, Ye Xiu still knew him just as well as he knew Glory.
"I have to leave now... Brother, you have my best wishes for Team Happy. Please never stop playing this game for me."
*Tumble*
"Young Master are you okay?!" Ye Qiu woke up disoriented and confused. How did he get home? The last he remembered was bumping into a shady old man holding a shiny brick and...
"Young master?! You should take better care of yourself! You're the only descendant left and you're going around gallivanting and doing inconsequential things?! I will report this to your father immediately!"
"But how can this be..." Why did he look so young and WHY DID THE NEWSPAPER SAY 2010?! Wasn't Ye Xiu's competition in 2019, what is he doing here?
*Plop*
The next thing he saw there was a shiny brick... A brick. How did it get here?!
"Ah, I see you've already met my gift." The shady old man from before was standing right at the door, looking very much unmatched with the whole atmosphere of the room and the occupant.
"How is this your gift? Why are you treating it like its human?" Ye Qiu must've been overworking himself unless...
*BAM*
"See. Now that you've been grounded by this shiny brick you'll believe me? If you aren't aware I brought you back in time to entertain me! Change what you want and be who you finally want to be! Windbreaker!"
This old man must be going so insane. Just when he was about to shout for the guards the old man suddenly disappeared. With only the shiny brick left in hand what should he do?
How did that old man know his in-game nickname? And where should he find Ye Xiu?
Maybe he cluld start by going outside and getting some fresh air? If he remembered correctly he woke up in the family's house located in City H.
The brick started to transform before his eyes into a compass... Maybe it would lead him to Ye Xiu of the past?
He started following the compass but it wasn't Ye Xiu he found at the end but Su Muqiu, the guy looked like he was going to go somewhere with his car. It felt like the brick was tugging him to go with the guy...
"Wait! Wait! Don't go!"
Ye Qiu was panting from shouting and running around like a hooligan who could he be going after?
"Do you need something from me? Huh..." The man's eyes squinted but then he started grinning from ear to ear.
"Ye Qiu! I thought you wanted to play some more and not go with me to the supermarket? Did you change your mind?"
"Hmm. Let me go with you I think I need more cigarettes!"
This earned him a beating on the head, "If you keep on smoking even a cockroach will outlive your blackened lungs!"
"I only get to live once! Don't you think I should get to choose what will kill me? Besides don't worry too much about me! I'll never die before you beat me in that notebook you made." It was probably good thing Ye Xiu told him about that notebook when he became drunk once.
"You little brat!"
"I'm taller than you!"
"You were still a cute little brat when we picked you up around the corner and you still have a lot of catching up to do regarding adult stuff!"
*Beep*
"Su Muqiu! Can't you drive properly?! As the people say, stop when red, yellow when waiting, and green to—"
"Ye Xiu is there something wrong? You're too talkative today."
"Maybe it was because I dreamt you were going to die in this very car."
"What?!"
The car swerved up a bit from Su Muqiu's shock but luckily there were no other cars in front of them for Su Muqiu to crash on to.
"Didn't I just tell you? Please focus and drive properly!"
"Tsk. Okay! But we will talk about this later."
"Saving your life should count as an additional 100 points to our score book right? Did I finally catch up?"
"..."
"Hey why won't you answer me!"
