Tuesday was cleaning day, a day set aside to get all the household chores done and dusted, excuse the pun. Avalon hated Tuesdays she particularly dreaded this one day of the week because it was the only day she had to be as strict and responsible parent as possible.
Avalon has two children, her son, Billy, who is four, and Ruby who is fourteen. Billy was usually let off most on most of the chores as he's usually too young to do these but billy still liked to help out as best he could as he was only four years of age so Avalon would assign Billy the smaller chores and Ruby had more to do than him. But Ruby, her daughter, this is where the trouble starts, she is more likely to chat back about not wanting to do chores. If she could get away with it she'd spend all day on Facebook, she was that kind of teenager.
Denise is always on her phone either tweeting, sharing the latest on Facebook or idealizing Instagram models. This sometimes makes Avalon worry because of the obvious phone addiction and sometimes she sneaks a peek over her shoulder to make sure she isn't on any sites or apps that she shouldn't be. Their father will be home from work at the hospital in half an hour and cleaning day was definitely not running on schedule for his return.
Avalon was having a real hard time prying her daughter off the phone and to the kitchen sink, she seemed adamant that the dishes could wait until after she had liked every single Instagram post, double press double-pressing her way through pictures in her feed she was likely on the way to liking every Instagram post that has ever existed and that her latest social media posting sesh should on no terms be interrupted by the mundane task of washing doing the dishes.
Avalon's blood was boiling at this point she had had such a busy and stressful day at work and just wished she could get this over with. But because she was a pushover and because of Ruby being so stubborn she didn't end up persuading her to do it so she did it while her daughter did the hoovering badly and tweeted about having to do chores phone in one hand hoover in the other she also sent an update to her Snapchat story every 10 minutes. Gosh, the children of today!
Billy laughed at her as she splashed her hands around in the bubbles his big blue eyes squinted and he showed his missing two front teeth as she glided the sponge over a glass with a pink flamingo on it, he did his best to help with the drying but he was more of a hindrance than anything. He did manage to drop and shatter one of her favourite mugs on the floor which happened to be a family heirloom given to her by her recently deceased mother. She cursed when he dropped it which she would later feel very guilty about because she knows children especially her children are very impressionable. it had been a bad day.
Avalon's career was in photography and she loved it. she loved to capture special moments as much as possible because she knew how fleeting they were and found it amazing that her job was to make sure that people remember these moments in time. She was basically paid to do what she loved -looking at wonderful things. Avalon saw it as an art, she liked to take pictures of anything that caught her eye aesthetically whether that be flowers, people, animals or a great piece of architecture-she just loved what she did. She always had her Fujifilm Instax camera to hand because she loved the way pictures can hold so much emotion and create so much pleasure.
Avalon had met Ben, her partner, at a photography exhibition when they were both in their early twenties. he was a man of little words which was why she was drawn to him in the first place he was the calm to her storm. he was reserved and shy the complete opposite of her personality. Avalon was an extroverted person although she had been hurt quite a few times this made her compassionate and she had a lot of time for those she loved and cared for.
She was nervous about tomorrow as her work would be one of the main exhibits in an exhibition uptown. She liked what she did but she was not one for big fancy events, the thought of one where she was these strangers critiquing her work kind of scared her but she was also excited to see how it all turned out. Avalon's other half had it much worse than her, however, and seeing people ill and dying every day was hard, there were times he spoke about it but times he didn't on account of upsetting her she did wish that he was more open about it though.
Avalon grew up in an Irish Catholic family the house was small and there was barely enough to eat between them so they often went without which is something no child should have to go through. Avalon often had to go to the local high street and beg for food because she was so hungry. Her mum was the angle in a world full of evil and Aavlaon grew up seeing her dad beat her mother. In the literal sense, Avalon's mother is an angle because she passed a few months back which is something that she is still in bits about although she would never admit it.
Avalon's mother was haunting her either that or she was psychologically disturbed and was hallucinating. She saw visions of her when she awoke in the early hours of the morning smiling over her in the creepiest way, just staring she never uttered a word. It was scary and Avalon questioned her sanity but she couldn't face going to a doctor because then she would have to explain that she had been having visions for as long as she could remember. It happened far too often mostly she would zone out when it did but since her mother died was when she realised the visions she was having could have saved her. and she felt dreadful but she knew now that she wasn't insane because she knew the visions were in her life to warn her about things that were going to occur in the future she thought to herself she had better stop ignoring what was happening and do something about it. But first, she needed practice and control her gift.
