The moment the words left my mouth, the air around me froze. I panicked as I sensed the mana in the area around us rapidly being pulled towards it. Without any emotion in its voice, the monster slowly said
"A deal? You haven't even asked my name, and you want to make a deal, huh?"
While quickly trying to gain control of the mana around us, I gulped as I said
"Yes. You have information I want, and I have information you want. And I'm willing to answer all of your questions. All I ask is that you help me find another chosen and allow me to steer their fate."
The monster slowly crept towards me with a soft chuckle after sensing the growing resistance from the mana around her.
"An attractive proposition. Usually, I'd have immediately killed you, yet meeting a human that can not only see me but can also manipulate mana has got me intrigued. What God do you serve, priest? "
While wondering what made her come to the conclusion I was some sort of priest, I smiled as I said
"I take it that means you accept then? If that's the case, I don't-"
Before I could finish explaining, I wasn't a priest. My mind was overwhelmed as image after image flashed through my mind. Most were nonsensical, yet within them, I could see a pattern forming, and when the episode had passed, I knew my purpose for being here and smiled.
"I serve the All-Seeing Eye of Fate, Scribe. You may call me Father Grimm."
The moment the words left my lips, I saw the 'Spider' tremble, and I heard it say in the softest whisper.
"Praise be the exalted one. May our Lord's sight pierce all mystery."
"I am sorry for the disrespect Father. Our Lord's emissaries come in all forms, yet I was ignorant of your status; please forgive me."
Seeing this mythical monster practically fall over in worship, I had to resist the urge to tease her and focus on building a positive relationship with her since she is the first step in my mission to claim this world. So I told her, with the kindest voice I could, which was surprisingly easy since it seems my lord had custom-designed this body to appear as friendly and approachable as possible.
"Consider yourself forgiven. More importantly, I need your assistance in understanding this world. You seemed surprised that I could manipulate mana; why is that? Also, I will need your help acquiring one of the "Chosen."
Without wasting any time, they explained that there has not been a human within this world that could use any form of magic. Apparently, the primary native God here, a being called Farqwad, practically forced all magical creatures to near extinction. He made the remaining ones agree to a Soul Bind to never teach their arts except to direct descendants. This leads to this world's current circumstances, where humans consider themselves the dominant race mostly because they are unaware of magic and monsters' existence. They also explained that most magical beings ignore humans altogether, but with so many humans running around the world, there are Threads of Fate all over the place, and since the humans are all so weak anyway, you can just make your own Chosen. As her explanation of this world went on, I couldn't resist the smile tearing across my face. I was the only one with advanced knowledge of spellcraft. Where the very fate of the world would be guided by me. Ripping me from my fantasies, I realized I still hadn't asked one thing.
"My manners seem to have left me. What's your name, child."
With what I assume is a smile she replied
"Haven Father my name is Haven"
