Karan was sitting on his chair, as his eyes were closed from all the stress he was getting from both personal and business life.
His eyes were aching and hard to keep them open, however, he still needed to think about Nora's decision of never coming back.
"Dad?" Ryan called with a knock on an open door of his study room.
"Hmm?" Karan's eyes shot open in surprise.
"What happened? You look tired." He walked into the room while asking.
"How is your college-going?" Karan ignored his question and asked back.
"No problem." He replied.
"Good."
Ryan looked at his father's tired face and felt sad to see him working so hard all day and night. Walking to the back of his chair, he started giving a massage to his head.
Karan got surprised by his sudden movement but in a second the relaxation he felt was something worth his silence.
After a few minutes, Ryan asked again "Something happened?"
"...No."
"Dad?"
He wouldn't ask if it was something work-related, but, by his father's answer as a 'No', he knew it's something he can understand.
Karan still didn't reply to his question and after that, Ron didn't ask either. After a while, Karan removed his hand from his forehead. Ryan walks back to the front of the desk.
"Nora isn't coming back." Karan informed.
Ryan's movement stopped. "... Oh." It's been so long since he heard that name.
It's been so long that he hardly remembers the last time he had talked about her. He never did because he had no reasons and no one to talk about her.
Ryan's reaction was expected to Karan. He saw his uninterested reaction. He was a little disappointed and felt a loss but it was anticipated.
It's been so long since he heard that name from him or from his wife. At home his wife clearly disagree her existence in their life. Discussing about Nora to her is a straight no.
Sighing a little, he explained his situation anyway. "But I need her back by the end of your semester."
"What do you plan to do then?" Ryan asked as he took his seat in front of him.
"Getting sick." Karan absent-mindedly answered his question.
"Pff…" Ryan tried his best, but couldn't help and chuckle a little with the outcome of the idea his father planned. Pursing his lips he apologized. "I am sorry. It's just-"
"Childish. I know."
"Then?"
"Don't have any other idea." He truthfully replied.
This idea also only came after Carter told him about the movie where a grandfather played this trick on his grandkids to make him do what he wanted for him.
"Oh. It's okay this way too. However, it's a little cliche." Ryan replied truthfully.
"Will it work?" Karan asked dubiously.
"..." He didn't reply to his father because he himself wasn't sure of the answer. Will Nora come back for Karan?
He was little excited with the topic they were sharing. It's been years since since he talked or asked about Nora from his dad. One might think that he must have forgotten about her. And it's given that after half a decade no teenager would remember a long lost girl.
But… But he remembers her. He remembers each and everything about her and the childhood they share. However, the only thing he doesn't know is how to react or what to do with the strange awkward feeling he is having.
He understands that Nora doesn't want to come back, and he knows that he wants her back. But after then what? Will everything be the same as before? No. Nothing is the same as before. He himself have changed, let alone.
"Why would she care about me. Right?" Karan commented as he bring back Ryan from his stupor.
"But she does."
"But care enough to come all the way here to check on me? I doubt it."
"...If you are just sick, then no." Ryan honestly replied.
They can't play jokes about life or death. The most they could do was to trick her either with injury or with sickness. And this matter is not big enough for her to come back all the way back here.
"Then what should I do?" Karan dejectedly asked.
"Although I don't know if we should do this, but, you can create trouble for Steave's mansion. She would come back home for that for sure."
Karan's brows raised immediately. The idea wasn't bad. He was highly impressed by the idea. They won't do anything, but let other people help them to achieve their goals. And the best contender among their enemies for such a task was no one but the guy who would willingly do it. And that person is...
"Not bad Ryan. This idea might actually work really."
"I think so too. But the outcome won't be permanent. Once she is done with her work here, she will go back."
"I only need her to come once. Later I will convince her." Karan earnestly said. Once Nora is under his reach, he would change the outcome to his desire.
