The next part of the dungeon was a long tunnel. If I stretched my hand out, with my Ninja blade, the tip would touch the ceiling of the corridor, but I couldn't even stretch one arm out beside me. With my body pressed to one wall, my elbow hit the other wall. Needless to say, we were going through this tunnel, single file. Unrivaled Pain went through first, followed by Lord Happy, Ultimate Trash Talk, Laughter in the Wind, with me bringing up the rear.
I was guessing we were about halfway through when a horrible prickling feeling traveled down my spine. At first, I wondered if I was still reacting to everything that had just happened, but then I heard a scraping sound behind me. I whipped around, but nothing was there. "Did you guys hear anything?"
"I did, we have company," Ye Xiu said.
Right after he spoke, hissing echoed through the tunnel, and what little light we had was blocked by something on either end.
"Hey kid and sister Su, duck, will you?" Huang Shaotian said more than asked, and he made Ultimate Trash Talk make a triangular Triple Slash move.
Laughter in the Wind pushed my Behind the Moon down until I was lying flat on the cave floor, less than half a second before Ultimate Trash Talk's ability released into the darkness. The slashes flew over our heads, making the area glow as it traveled towards our adversary.
What I saw made me gulp in real life. A giant legless dragon slithered towards us, taking up the whole tunnel with the size of its body. The only reason I knew it wasn't a giant snake was its face. It had a giant crocodile-like snout, and a lion's mane of feathers around the back of it's scaled head. Its maw was filled with rows of jagged teeth that would be right at home in a sharks mouth. The light was hidden by the dragon due to it's undulating up and down motion as it moved towards us.
"Little Ye, stay low to give Laughter in the Wind room to help you. Little Tang, do the same for me," Ye Xiu said quickly and shifted his weapon to its cannon form.
"Of course," Tang Rou, Ultimate Pain's user, said with confidence.
"Oh, am I supposed to just sit here and wait while the four of you have all the fun?" Huang Shaotian huffed.
"I'd gladly switch with you, Senior, if I could," I said. Ninja weren't exactly sturdy compared to Blade Masters.
"Forget it, kid, I'll just look for an opening or two," He sighed as if he was very put upon by not being closest to the dragon.
I'd considered using my Shadow Clone Technique, but that would leave Su Mucheng's Launcher to deal with the dragon, not Huang Shaotian's Blade Master. Launchers were much worse at close combat than Ninjas, so I tossed some Caltrops down. The tiny metal spikes would help slow the beast down, giving me more time to think.
"Oh fun, I love this type of dragon!" Laughter in the Wind said happily before adding, "let's push him back a bit, shall we?"
I took the warning at face value and crouched down, giving Su Mucheng room to attack. Three Anti-Tank Missiles zoomed over my head, hitting the dragon right in the mouth. The explosion from each of the projectiles knocked the beast backward. The light filtering over our shoulders from Tang Rou and Ye Xiu's attacks gave me enough light to see that the dragon on our side was stunned.
I took advantage of it's frozen state to dash forward and hit the dragon with my Annihilation ability. The beast's head was blasted upwards, making it hit the ceiling of the cave hard before it slammed back onto the floor. I slashed at it with my Ninja Blade a few times before I crab-walked backward, once again placing myself behind the Caltrops. Laughter in the Wind covered me on my way back with Gatling Gun, rattling a stream of bullets into the beast.
I was beginning to think that this dragon was more than a simple trash mob...
