I started to hear sounds of movement around me. My eyes felt like lead and I couldn't open them yet. I could feel my surroundings and I felt a cold steel table on my back.
"Ma'am, is there a reason we are thawing the surviving subjects from the 1991 batch?" A man asked with expectation.
"The director asked us to because of how things have changed. After we got our 1991 subjects, we were unable to get as many ideal subjects again because of how much hell we raised with that one incident. And now, technology has become far too advanced for us to even hijack a car with ideal subjects," a woman replied unhappily. "And even out of the 1991 batch, there were only 7 successfully integrated subjects who survived the serum. The rest of them died in various ways. We have not had a single success since that batch either. The director decided that even though there were unknown complications in the serum integration process with these seven, we might be able to find out what we missed on our previous tests since then. Luckily, all of them do not need anything when we thaw them. We just need to make sure that they stay under while we make some simple observations like drawing blood. Speaking of, can you get the anesthetic? We need to ensure that he stays under during the observation."
I heard shuffling around me as they seemed to be getting ready to "observe" me, whatever that meant. I was regaining consciousness slowly, but surely. I could already move my hand, but I didn't to prevent alarming whoever these people were. The conversation I overheard makes me believe that I am in the lab that I was hunting before I passed out. However, the way they are referring to the 1991 incident makes me believe that it is no longer that year. It is highly possible that I was under a medically induced coma or something similar. That is not important right now anyways. I can always figure out what specifically happened.
The lady mentioned that there were seven total successful subjects. Assuming that all of them are survivors from the plane, then I need to see if I can save them after I get out of my immediate predicament. They are all innocent individuals who were brought here against their desires and we were all kept here for a minimum of a year or two, at most it shouldn't be more than 5 years. While I was working through a plan and processing all the information I heard, the people around me started to swab me to see where they could get a vein to set a picc line IV. I finally felt that I would be able to open my eyes as they were finishing the swabbing process.
As I opened my eyes, the sight that greeted me was a room that looked like it was prepped for a major surgery. There were also too many people in here for a simple surgery. "Ma'am, he's waking up!" I heard a shout from my right. I saw that it was a scrawny, pale white man with white surgical gloves and mask on.
"Is the anesthetic ready?" the woman's voice was clear and calm. She had black-rimmed glasses that matched her black hair. She was of Asian descent like me, but I couldn't immediately tell which race.
"Yes ma'am!"
"Immediately administer it!" While the lady wasn't panicking, I could tell that she was surprised that I was waking up. The scrawny man grabbed the iv line that was next to my bed and immediately tried to attach it to the picc line that hadn't been setup on me. As he pushed away his own colleagues, I reacted by quickly grabbing his hand that had the IV line. As I saw their expressions quickly become pale from what they saw, I tried to turn his hand away from me to prevent the IV from knocking me out. I did not expect to hear the sickening crunch that came as I turned his hand away.
"GAHHH! What did you do! GAHHH!" The man screamed in agony. As I looked down to see the damage, I saw his wrist bones sticking out of his hand and the angle that his hand was in no way natural. His hand was broken clean back, and I had almost cleanly taken his hand off. I thought I would have had to struggle to stop him from putting the IV in. Instead, it seems that I used too much strength. This doesn't make any sense. I was asleep for at least a year. My reflexes and my muscles should have seriously deteriorated. "GAHHH!" The man continued to scream as he fell to his knees.
While it was true that I did not intend to do as much damage as I did, I did not feel any pity. These people at the very least committed multiple punishable crimes. They kidnapped an entire plane and experimented on them illegally. This includes children and the elderly. What sort of trash does that to their own species without any consent? I pushed myself up to a sitting position on the table where if I chose to fall off the table, I would land on my feet. I looked around and confirmed that there were three other people in nurse scrubs with one doctor in a white coat. I jumped off the table and slammed my knee into the scrawny guy who tried to stick the IV in me. I wasn't being too careful about where I hit him, but I could feel that my knee didn't have any resistance as it continued to go forward. I nearly tripped on myself because of the forward momentum.
As I steadied myself and looked down at my knee, I saw blood all over it. I didn't understand how there was so much blood because I had only tried to push him out of the way. Once again, I did not understand the force that my body was capable of presenting. When I turned around to look at the scrawny man, there was just a headless body left. I almost puked right there. I had seen some horrible things like genocide, but I had never done something like this to anybody. I repressed my desire to vomit and tried to restrain myself when dealing with the other three nurses. I just lightly tapped them on the backs of their heads. After I double checked my handiwork by making sure all three of them were only knocked out, I did a double take. The three nurses were at least 5 meters away from each other. I instantly had hit all three of them, as if I was playing duck, duck, goose. That meant that even my speed was beyond what I expected. I would need to readjust to my body. I have no idea how I became like this, but if I had to hazard a guess, the serum integration this doctor lady was speaking about seems to be the likeliest culprit.
"Speak. Where am I and what did you do to me?" My voice came out hoarse as my throat was dry. The lady doctor fell to her knees. "Please don't kill me! I'll tell you whatever you want to know!"
