Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Being a Apprentice and a Duel

Today will be the day I will become an apprentice. So I went to the adventurers guild on the outskirts of town to meet my instructor. When I arrived at the guild. I noticed that there where people who have swords on their hips, axes hanging on their belts, and even a great sword on someone's back. Well, this is lively. I went to the human lady at the reception and asked about being an apprentice.

"Ah, are you Felix?"

"Yes, how did you know? This is my first time visiting here."

"Someone want's to be your instructor. He even said, 'if you see a fox beastkin kid that is named Felix. I want him to be my apprentice'. Even I was surprised that guy specifically wants you to be his apprentice. When we sent 5 kids to be his apprentice, all of them were crying and running saying 'His a monster!' and that was the last time he got an apprentice"

Wow. That guy's training must be harsh, to make 5 kids running and crying even calling him a "monster". Let's see what he's capable of.

"Go through that door and he will be waiting for you at the training ground, Good luck and be safe... (oh God, that poor kid is going to be tortured by him)."

"Thanks!"

While pondering about that little comment, I arrived at the door. When I opened it I see a 20×20 meter training ground. After I closed the door, I saw a fist in my left side, heading towards my head. I then side-step, grabbed his wrist with my left hand, then use my right to grab his collar and throw him into the ground. After that, I used a Straight armbar technique, immobilizing him.

"Wow! did you see that! A kid just stopped a rank adventurer with that move!"

"Unbelievable! How strong is he!?"

"Where did he learn that technique!?"

"Who the hell is he!? I got knocked out from that punch when I was dueling with him before! Not did he just avoid a surprise attack, but even stopped him!?"

While the other instructors, adventures, and apprentices were talking. I let go of the would-be attacker, now knowing it was a test for me. Then he stands up and spoke.

"I never imagine in my 13 years of being an adventurer, that an 8 years-old kid could easily defeat me. Especially in a surprise attack."

"Um? Who are you?"

Wait, something looks familiar about him. When I took a good look at him, he's human, he has short black hair, a scar on his neck, and has dark blue eyes. Wait? Dark blue eyes? You don't mean!

"You surprised me there kid. I never would have believed what my daughter told me, that you managed to grab a bully's fist and make them so scared that they peed their pants! Hahaha! And the most hilarious thing was that comment of yours 'I think you want to go home and change your pants', Bwahaha!"

"Your... Sally's father?"

"Oh, sorry about not introducing myself. My name is Micheal Raford. Nice to meet you kid."

After introducing himself. He then taught me how to use melee weapons, some of his unarmed combat techniques, and how to use bows. And it was intense. He drilled everything I learned over and over that I thought I was going to collapse, do something wrong and I have to do push-ups 30 times and would yell so loud I thought my ears were going to fall off. But he's saving the best for last.

"Have you ever use any magic before?"

"Well if you include my [CREATE], no that's only it"

"I see. I heard about your special [CREATE] magic when Sally told me about it. How about you give me a demonstration."

"Ah, sure. [CREATE]."

What I have made was a Katana. A very nice curved, single-edge sword.

"Oh! What kind of sword is this?"

"It's a katana sir"

"Can I use it?"

"Sure."

When I let him use the katana. He used a practice dummy for him to cut it with. He perfectly cut it into 5 pieces consecutively.

"This is a nice sword. Can I keep it?"

"Sure. I'm happy that the sword I made was used by a skilled swordsman."

"Thank you for the sword. If you were in trouble. I will not hesitate to rush to your need, with the sword you made."

"I look forward to seeing you in real action."

After we were finishing talking, he then instructed me to use the other six elemental magic to see if I have any affinity: light, darkness, earth, water, air, and fire.

The First was light.

"I summon you, the light in our world so that we will see our way, [light orb]."

Nothing happened.

Second was darkness.

"I summon you, the darkness in this world, hide me from lurking eyes, [shadow cloak]."

Nothing happened, ok third times the charm.

Third was earth

"I summon you, the land we live on, stopping anything in my path, [earth wall]."

Nothing again.

Fourth was water.

"I summon you, the water of our world, flooding anything in its path, [water jet]"

N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

Fifth was air

"I summon you, the air we breathe, to cut anything in my path, [wind blade]."

I'm seriously doubting I can use any elements.

And the last was fire

"I summon you, the warmth of your flame, shoot your blaze, [flame shot]"

Dang, it.

"*Sigh*"

"Sorry kid... I think your [CREATE] is great though."

"I was hoping I could just use one element. But hey, I can make anything I want. So, I think it's a tradeoff for [CREATE]."

After training was done. I then went to the lake.

And what was waiting for me at the lake was my childhood friend Sally.

"Took you long enough!"

"Sorry to keep you waiting."

Now that I took a good look at myself and Sally. We certainly have grown. My height was now slowly getting taller. My body is now maturing steadily with muscles now getting more define. And with Sally. She's now maturing into a woman. Her breast is starting to grow into an A-cup, her rump is a bit plump, and her face now looked more mature. She's now looking cuter, and cuter... wait, what am I thinking!?

"Is something wrong Felix? You look red? Do you have a fever?"

Things are getting bad to worse when Sally suddenly puts her forehead to mine. I feel like steam was escaping from my head.

"You don't feel hot. Are you sure your ok?"

"I'm fine! Just feeling a bit hot!"

"Ok then. How was dad treating you!"

Yeah... her dad, that I have managed to thrown and grappled to ground.

"He's treating me alright, and I managed to learn a lot from him, even though he was a bit strict."

"That's good. Not like the last one."

"Why? what happened?"

"He wet himself because Dad threatened him almost to death."

"... I can't even imagine that."

After we were done talking, we then started our monthly contest.

*bangbangbang* *bangbangbang* *dinkdinkdink*

Today Sally and I were using a dueling tree to see which of us would win. A dueling tree consists of 6 swinging targets that rotate from one side to the other around a vertical stem. When facing off against another shooter, each person selects a side (left or right of the vertical stem). The paddles are often painted a different color on each side for visual reference. The objective is to clear your side so all the paddles are rotated around the vertical stem. The match ends when all paddles are displayed on one side or if both shooters run out of ammunition. Both Sally and I have a gun that can hold 15 rounds of 9mm. So we both have two mags each. One inside our guns and another extra on the table. My M9 -V.S- Sally's P320 Compact. Who would win?

*bangbangbang* *bangbangbang* *dinkdinkdink*

"Yes! I'm in the lead!"

I only have 1 paddle on my side

"No, you don't!"

And Sally managed to return 2 more to my side. We were neck on neck. We were closely maintaining 3 paddles on each side.

Then *click*, someone ran out of ammo.

"Oh no!"

Sally quickly tried to reload her gun. And that gave me time to send two of my paddles to her side. Yes! one more left! *click* And I ran out of ammo.

"Dang! The timing of this!"

Sally managed to reload and sent 4 paddles on my side. Oh no! She's going to win! I reloaded my gun and sent 2 paddles back to her side. She's still in the lead! I have to catch up! While Sally is maintaining her 2 paddles lead. I'm starting to run out of bullets. I hope she makes a mistake! And it came. She missed 3 times and her 4th bullet only grazed the paddle. 5 bullets left! Concentrate... 4 paddles on my side, 1 on Sally.

*bangbangbangbang* *bang** click*

Sally run out of ammo! Here's my chance!!! My final Paddle!*bang* The last paddle went to Sally's!

"I- I lost."

Before I could celebrate. I noticed there is one paddle missing. When I look at the dueling tree. I saw the single paddle in the middle of it. That was the paddle Sally grazed and didn't notice it. If I tell her, it would be considered a tie. If I don't, she wins. But, I don't want to see Sally sad because she always loses our monthly contest. And, I don't feel good cheating on a contest.

"Actually you didn't lose."

"Huh? You clearly shot all the paddles on my side."

"Not all of it. Look."

I then pointed the paddle in the middle of the dueling tree.

"So that means~"

"A tie."

When she heard that. Sally was very happy and gave me a bear hug.

"Yes! Even though it was just a tie, it means I'm catching up to you Felix!

"Yeah, yeah just let go of me, Sally!"

After a few seconds, she let go of me and smiled very happily in front of me. Cu-Cute!
