It was cloudy outside. The sound of lightening was heard and it rumbled across the sky in a white flash. The winds were harsh as trees swayed almost as if they were about to fall down, yet it still stayed up in this weather. The rain hit the glass window if the beautiful mansion.
Rumble! The sound of thunder resided in the room. The little girl looked at the window with fear and then hopped out of bed to find her parents. Opening her bedroom door on her tippy toes, she slowly walked down the hallway along with her purple blanket and stuff princess doll with silver hair.
Her parents room wasn't far and she only had to walk a little more before reaching there. The six year old her found the room door open and without hesitation she opened the door to find no one in it.
"Mommy? Daddy?" She quietly asked in her soft baby tone. But instead of a reply all she heard was silence. She continued calling out her parent and finally realized her parents weren't there.
"An, where are they? I don't see th-" but her attention shifted to the sound.
Crash! Slap! "LINSEY!!" The sound of her father panic screamed and glass breaking was heard.
She had already dropped her items in her hands and ran towards the staircase and looked from the top down to the ground floor where she saw her mother weakly standing against a painting holding her stomach and her father who looked scared from some reason.
She also saw her grandmother and another woman beside her with a big belly. But for some reason she found this woman scary... her face was ugly looking and scary. It looked like this auntie ate to much.
She hid their watching the people in the room. Her mommy had tears fall from her eyes and her dad had an equally sad expression. But the more she looked at it.. he looked frustrated about something.
"I married you for this long.. 8 YEARS!... in these years I LOVED YOU WITH ALL! My heart and my body! We we're happy... why? WHY DID YOU RUIN IT! What about me? WHAT ABOUT DOMI!!? Wha— what about their future...Bruce... you shamelessly went and did something like this? Do you think I would let this end me? No! NO WAY!" Linsey didn't care about the people in the room anymore and spoke her mind with aggrieved face as her beautiful brown eyes spilled tears.
Bruce looked at her with a equally hurt face as he anxious face, "I- I don't know! I REALLY DON'T KNOW HER!! Linsey I- listen to me. I love you more than anyone! How could I-" he tired to explain but cut him off.
"Call me unreasonable but this is the end of us.. The end of our love.... I'm taking Dominique with me.. she doesn't deserve you anymore.. She doesn't deserve any of this! Scum! Bastard! You ruined it... YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!!" She harshly said and wipe her tears away and calm herself down as much as she could.
Dominique who was watching the scene started crying as well. She didn't know why but seeing her mother cry made her also cry. She wiped her tears and rushed down and hugged her mother's leg.
"Mommy!! Don't cry!! Are you hurt? Here let me get a bandage! Daddy tell mom she's ok, I will get a bandage." Her little voice sounded in the room.
Linsey was shocked and she quietly embraced her daughter picking her up into her arms and cried. Her tears wet the little girl's shirt and she felt her daughter patting her head.
"It ok mommy! I'm here don't cry! I will get the bandage for you so wait for me ok?" She tired to leave Linsey arms but she didn't let go.
"Daddy, mommy need a bandage? Can you go get one for her? She needs one really badly? Look how hurt she is and she's crying a lot! Hurry! And get her a bandage so she could feel bett-" she turned to her father and little voice called out to him.
But when she saw his face, she was surprised and spoke in her kiddy voice. "Daddy? Are you hurt too? Why are you crying?" She stood in front of him and tugged his pants.
Bruce snapped out of his trance and touched his face and felt that it was wet from tears. When he saw his daughter running down hugging Linsey. He felt like his heart had broke into piece. Her baby tone and comforting words made him feel sadness.
He looked at Lindsey and saw her despairing eyes as she turned away from his vision. He picked up Dominique and hugged her even tighter in his arms. The faint smell of milk and powder in engulfed him and he felt like crying again when he felt that his daughter was patting her head just like what she did to her mother and comfort him too.
"Daddy? Mommy? Why are you crying? Don't cry or I will cry too! Smile! Smile! Like this!" She used both her hands and put them in the side of her mouth and smiled.
Pure. Innocent. Happy.
Their daughter was everything to them. Yet here they are already broken and nothing can fix what happened this night. Their eyes met, as if they understood each other thoughts.
Tonight everything changed and not even there daughter small voice can help them recover what they lost.
"ENOUGH!!" a loud voice broke the silence in the room and Dominique got surprised that she quickly hid in her father's embrace because the loud voice.
"Since you said you want to leave. Then leave! I don't need a person like you with my son—"
"MOTHER!!" An exasperated look appeared on Bruce's face as he stared at his mother in disbelief.
"She said it herself." She threw a paper in front of them on the coffee table. "Sign it. And compensation will follow".
Linsey looked defeated and her eyes fell to her daughter snuggled in her husband's embrace. She knew what those papers were. Divorce papers.
Without hesitation she walked to pick up the papers and took the pen from the woman standing near her mother-in-law, she saw the woman proud with her pregnant belly. She quickly read through the papers and the conditions and snickered at the last condition.
... compensation of 15 million dollars..
"Oh Bruce... the worth I have is 15 million? I'm glad to know!" She mocked and signed the papers without hesitation and walked up to Bruce and handed the paper to him.
"L-Linsey... don't please you all I h-"
"Have? Don't make me laugh? You HAVE someone else and look? Her belly is already popping? From this day on don't look for me because you HAVE another bitch to worry about." She sarcastically said and the pregnant woman was fuming when she heard the insults.
Bruce didn't look bother at all instead he had a pleading look at her and Linsey turned away from him and picked up Dominique from his arms and headed straight for the door. Without turning back.
Bruce's eyes never left her small back and their daughters face as she looked at him. The full family they had broke apart. Leaving nothing but just and empty shell of his once warm heart. He quickly followed her but she had already stepped into a car and drove away.
He dropped to his knees and felt that he lost everything in life. Including his purpose. He lost the love of his life... and he couldn't do anything about it. She was right. They didn't deserve any of this.
