Chapter 29 - Arena of Heroes

Lee remained motionless for several breaths, the sudden change of events, and the realization that he would have ran mad if his sword totem didn't interfere gave him goosebumps, his robe was wet from sweat as though a bucket of water had been poured on him.

"If my sword totem hadn't interfered, that is how my mind would have been thrown in chaos, whoever created this is crazy, I bought with my hands what could have almost killed me" Lee couldn't help but shake his head, a part of him was wishing he had let the dark skinned man buy the art.

"I wasn't traumatized for nothing, at least I ended up creating mental energy" Lee grinned like a Cheshire cat, Lee immediately opened the box containing the needles, he was anxious to test how mental energy worked, he closed his eyes and directed his consciousness towards the mental space which resided in his forehead same as his dantian.

Lee wrapped his mind around the floating milky white mental energy ball, it was the first form of mental energy, he would continue to make the ball grow till a point where he would transform it to a river and at that level he would be regarded as a true mental master, according to the scroll there was more to mental energy than controlling needles, there were several amazing paths to tread that was far from his grasp at his present stage.

With but a thought Lee controlled the mental energy towards his left hand which immediately was already wrapped with white glossy mental energy.

Lee opened his eyes and chuckled on seeing his hands, he felt exceedingly powerful like never before, mental energy wasn't like spiritual energy that need several spiritual paths before you could propagate it.

Lee waved his hands and the mental energy dispersed, he stared at the needles and with but a thought mental energy wrapped around a Dragon call needle, with his mind, he gently began to make it levitate, it was clumsy, as Lee had no previous training in mental energy, the needle floated in air for a while before it dropped lifeless.

Lee wasn't disappointed by rather he chortled.

...…..

The sun returned to the horizon and darkness fell, the moon took its place and the stars showed of their beauty. Lee stared at the Dragon call needle on his palm, he had tried to control more than one needle but he discovered his limit was only one, with several failures and practice he had had in the past few hours he had gained some certain level of dexterity, Lee wrapped mental energy around the needle on his palm and like a flash of light it was already floating in the air, Lee stared at the table beside him, it was time to test how powerful the needle was, Lee waved his hands and like a white streak of light the needle sped towards the table with a shocking speed.

"Bang!"

The needle like a drill, penetrated the table without no resistance, leaving a deep hole on the very thick table. Lee was badly shocked, with how thick the table is, the material it was made of wasn't ordinary, from what he could see, the needle was enough to badly injure a first stage spiritual refinement cultivator!

"The pain wasn't for nothing!" Lee chuckled as he recalled the needle, with this his strength had taken a leap, if he could secretly injure his enemy with the needle or even seal your blood flow, then the battle would be in his favour, as for the knowledge about human body, he would be a disgrace to his clan if he had no idea, as a swordsman they had to learn about every vein and nerve, as a clan that dwelt on speed and sharpness that had to learn about certain vital points in the body.

Lee smiled and then rose from the bed, it was finally time to visit the place.

...….

The gathering point having very attractive places wasn't just words of the mouth, the Raging storm palace been a testament to that, but that wasn't only what the gathering point had, there were many more and one of them was exactly were Lee intended to visit.

Somewhere in the gathering point, a building structured like a stadium bustled, balls like the light of fireflies were floating in the air in countless numbers making the area resplendent, cheers and screams filled the air make the atmosphere extremely exciting, people were seated around a large platform like the way a football stadium was arranged, the large platform was just as large as a football pitch, the platform was separated into nine sections, each representing the stages of spiritual refinement, this were the battle stage for each cultivation level.

This battlefield was called 'Arena of Heroes', it was a public stage were several cultivators met and battled amongst each other, why Lee had to put on a mask was that high ranked clans like his clan Wateredge regarded this place too ignoble for their offspring or members to participate in, but what Lee saw it as was that this clans were scared of their image been tarnished imagine if a young man from an unknown and poor clan trashes their own in a battle of the same cultivation level, it would be such a huge blow to them.

So members of their clan were not expected to be seen in the Arena of Heroes, but people sneaked here such as Lee is doing participating in the Arena of Heroes with a mask on, and most importantly he had painted Blueflame with the Quill ink, that was one of the reasons he didn't appear in the auction without the mask, imagine him buying the Dragon call needles as the young master of Wateredge clan and then he appears at the Arena of Heroes with a mask on, one way or the other his cover would be blown and that spelled trouble for him, he wasn't afraid of what his father would do but the repercussion it would have on his father as the clan head, several ambitious elders like Chu would hold on it till the very end.
