After confiding in the townspeople, Liu Jay found himself at the Hired Hands Hall. This was a place where anyone from farmers to large corporations could issue out requests which would be rewarded upon completion.
Since Jay didn't have any currency of the Eastern Continent, the Hired Hands Hall was the perfect place to earn the funds required for daily expenditures. He currently had no currency, no housing, no Eastern clothing, and no food.
Jay noticed a large request poster and 2 people, one in blue with a sword on his belt, and one in red with a sword but also a bow waiting near it. He moved onto it out of curiosity.
"Request to defeat the ice wyvern nesting around the Yi family mansion. Wyvern level: 5th stage Calamity"
The Eastern continent had different levels of cultivation, which were further divided into 7 stages each.
The first and weakest level is the Foundation level, then Martial Body, Spirit Seeking, Golden Orb, Spirit Guardian, Virtual Disaster, Calamity, Pure Soul, Immortal Essence, and Ascension level mentioned only in legends.
Each level is vastly harder to break through compared to the last, and only the talented and genius can even make it to the spirit Guardian level. Breaking through requires passing a tribulation that tests your soul strength, and can cripple or even kill you if you are not strong enough.
Wu Lin who Liu Jay defeated in the past was a Virtual Disaster level cultivator.
In the Eastern Continent, there are very few masters at the Calamity level of cultivation, even less so for the Pure Soul and Immortal Essence levels.
"Are you people here to complete the request as well?" Jay asked.
"Yes, but you must be of Virtual Disaster level or greater. Allow us to test your skill." The swordsman dressed in blue replied as he stepped to the side.
Behind him lay a black gong the size of 5 men.
"This is a Gian Gong; the strength of the sound produced as you strike it will display your power."
Liu Jay sifted his feet shoulder width apart, drawing back his arm.
"Right arm x500!"
He unleashed a punch with the strength of 500 men and the gong rang loudly.
"Amazing! So you're a 3rd stage Virtual Disaster!" The swordsman exclaimed. Apparently a cultivator of the virtual disaster realm possessed the strength of around 500 regular people. "We are happy to have you as our 3rd and final group member. I take it you are a martial artist. My name is Fan Zhi, the swordsman, and that man in red is archer Yan Mao. I am a 3rd stage Virtual Disaster, and the quiet one is a 4th stage."
Fan Zhi placed his sword onto the ground, and stepped onto it. Yan Mao did the same.
"Do you not have a flying sword?" Fan Zhi asked Jay.
"No… but I can follow you on foot. I'm quite fast." He replied with a smile.
An expression of incredulity came upon his face.
After 3 hours, the trio arrived at the territory of the Yi family as a shrill screech pierced the air.
The ice wyvern was as white as snow, and all 20 meters of its body soared through the air.
"Yan Mao will shoot it out of the air and draw it closer to the ground. At that point, you and I will attack him."
Yan Mao knocked on a sleek, white feathered arrow, drawing the string to his cheek. It caught fire and transformed and grew into an inferno, plunging through the wyvern's wing.
Another shrill scream screeched through the air as the wyvern fell to the ground, a large hole burned through it's right wing.
Fan Zhi slashed around the creature with uncanny speed and accuracy, his Silver Sword Steps cutting a brilliant path through the wyvern blindspots.
The now bloody wyvern parted its mouth as a white glow shone from within.
"Thighs x500!"
Liu Jay leapt into the air, his arms glistened red. He came down upon the creature's head like a hammer, instantly stopping its attack.
The wyvern rolled around, writhing violently, forcing Jay and Fan Zhi to jump away from it.
Its scales released a flash of white light, blinding the three of them simultaneously.
"Oh shi-"
The wyvern's tail slammed into Jay with the force of a train, throwing him into a boulder.
"Silver Sculpting Stroke!" Fan Zhi roared as a massive silver slash cut through the air, slicing off one of the wyverns four legs.
As the wyvern was caught off balance by FanYan Zhi's sword slash, Yan Mao wasted no time in simultaneously firing two blazing bolts through the wyvern's eyes.
"Thighs x1000! Right arm x1000!" Jay yelled as his muscles expanded and rippled.
"Blood craft: javelin!" A fickle stream of red hot blood slivered out of his veins into the air, forming a long slender spear 3 meters long.
His inhumanely strong arm grasped the spear, and his legs pulled against the ground with enormous leverage as Jay whipped the spear with so much force that a sonic boom exploded behind it. The javelin tore through the wyverns heart, soaring through it and dissipating into the air.
