Chapter 49 - 049 He is not

```plaintext
Luo Xiyun staggered back to her room, shutting the door with a bang. She leaned against it, her body slowly sliding down until she was seated on the floor.
She tucked her feet in, wrapped her arms around her knees, and buried her head in her legs. Her wet hair hung down, with water droplets dripping onto the floor, gradually forming a puddle.
She sat there motionless. After an unknown period, a faint melody began to play from her handbag.
A minute later, the music stopped. After a few seconds, it rang again.
It continued like this, ringing and stopping, stopping and ringing. After four or five times, she finally moved, reached out to grab her phone from the bag, answered it, and put it to her ear.
"Why did it take so long to answer? So, have you confirmed it, is that person the same one from your dream?"
From the other end, Liu Yumeng's anxious voice came through.
She stayed silent for a moment before saying, "He's not."
"Oh, isn't that a good thing? Why do you sound unhappy?"
"I'll hang up now." She finished speaking, hung up, turned off her phone, and tossed it aside.
After a while, she repeated once more, "He's not."
Gradually, a deep weariness washed over her, her eyelids growing heavier, and in her haze, she saw again the Chen Xu, who had once said word for word, "To hell with gentlemanliness."
The Chen Xu, whose heart was harder than stone, who could ignore her for months over a single word from her.
The Chen Xu, who couldn't stand the slightest grievance, whose heart was smaller than the tip of a needle, always scolding her, a complete jerk.
The Chen Xu, who, even on the verge of death, refused to say one kind word, leaving her all alone, hypocritically telling her to live well...
"He's not you..."
In the room, her barely audible voice echoed.
......
When Luo Xiyun left, Chen Xu watched her back, feeling a sudden urge to chase after and support her.
Was she feeling sad?
He restrained this impulse, yet a bit of doubt lingered in his mind. Just a moment ago, he had actually felt as if she were really sad.
It must have been an illusion.
Once her figure disappeared by the doorway, a sense of loss swept over him.
The others completely relaxed, and under Secretary Guo's guidance, officially started the game. Without any leaders present, everyone loosened up, and before long, laughter filled the room.
In a sense, it achieved the purpose Luo Xiyun initially had in mind.
Only Chen Xu remained absent-minded, detached from the group.
The others understood, though. After all, being publicly reprimanded by Mr. Luo would put anyone in a bad mood.
Someone suggested he go back and rest, and he agreed, going back to his room.
Lying on the bed, he calmed down and seriously reflected for a moment. He realized it was the concern that had confused his mind.
Even though he had spent considerable time preparing himself, treating everything as though it were just a dream.
Yet, in the dream, months of emotions with her, how could they be forgotten, severed just by saying so?
Not interacting often wasn't a big issue. But like today, face-to-face, he discovered that his psychological defenses were incredibly fragile. Unconsciously, he would find himself concerned about her.
Understanding this, he sighed and mumbled to himself, "At the time, I must've been out of my mind. Why did I have to replicate someone I knew in reality into the dream?"
In the dream, they were like inseparable lovers, only to wake up as strangers. Having to meet every day, anyone would find that unbearable.
"No, I can't stay at the company anymore. After this month, I'll resign."
He made up his mind to make a clean break. As long as he didn't see her, after a while, all this would become a fond memory in his heart.
"Stop overthinking it, she's not her from the dream."
He silently told himself, gradually drifting into sleep.
.......
The next day, Chen Xu woke up on time. After a night's sleep, his mood had mostly settled. After washing up, he headed to the restaurant on the second floor, where everyone was supposed to meet today.
Upon reaching the second floor, he ran into a colleague, who told him that Luo Xiyun had fallen ill, and Secretary Guo had taken her to the hospital overnight. She hadn't returned yet.
This news was posted in the work group, but Chen Xu hadn't seen it.
"Is she alright?" Chen Xu asked instinctively, his heart tightening.
The person replied, "She had a high fever, but it went down after an IV. Now, Secretary Guo is taking Mr. Luo home. You can see it in the group."
Chen Xu picked up his phone, scrolled through the group messages, and just then saw Secretary Guo's message saying Luo Xiyun had been taken home. Only then did he feel relieved.
"What about today's activity?" Chen Xu suddenly remembered.
"Let me check." The person picked up the phone and sent Secretary Guo a message asking about it.
Soon, Secretary Guo replied, "Free activities."
Their electronic sales department had a peculiar structure. In theory, Liu Kun was the primary person in charge, but in practice, daily management was all done by Luo Xiyun. The entire department seemed to revolve around the two of them.
Beyond that, it was probably Secretary Guo. She was Luo Xiyun's assistant, and many orders were passed down to everyone through her.
Then there were no more levels, the rest of the colleagues were all ordinary employees, with no hierarchical distinction.
Chen Xu guessed that Liu Kun and Luo Xiyun wanted a flat management style. The idea was good, but if both Liu Kun and Luo Xiyun weren't around, it could easily become chaotic, with no one knowing who to listen to.
Even now, with Luo Xiyun and Secretary Guo gone, they couldn't find anyone to lead, and could only have free activities.
Chen Xu didn't look for Dai Zixin, after what happened last night, she seemed to be avoiding him.
Surely, last night, Luo Xiyun must have scared her quite a bit.
Honestly, he felt somewhat reassured. After reality taught her a lesson, she was no longer as carefree and thoughtless as before.
He didn't want to stay in the hotel either. Seeing that the weather outside was nice, he strolled outside for a walk.
The surrounding scenery was lovely. Unknowingly, he found himself at the basketball court where yesterday's team-building activity was held. Seeing those hosts playing basketball, he stopped by.
They noticed him too and paused their game.
"I heard them call you Chen Xu yesterday," the leading man came over, greeting him, "I'm Zhao Gang."
Chen Xu showed a friendly smile, "You guys haven't left yet?"
"Waiting for the afternoon, we'll head back with you all," Zhao Gang said, pointing to the court, "Want to join us for a few rounds?"
Chen Xu shook his head, saying, "No, thanks, my small frame can't handle your bumps."
"Come on, we're all about skill, we won't use our bodies to bully," Zhao Gang invited warmly.
Chen Xu wasn't going to fall for it; his skills were poor, and he didn't want to embarrass himself on the court.
"How about a shooting contest?" suggested the man Chen Xu had nearly beaten into disbelief with his shooting yesterday.
Chen Xu looked at him, thinking, isn't this asking for trouble?
PS: Seeing so many rewards, it's really stressful. Enough said, back to typing and stocking up.
